Excellent breakfast. And for everyone who thinks its old – I think it’s a gem frozen in time! Pretty awesome that it’s frozen in the 60s and 70s. Perfect stop on your way to Longwood Gardens from Lancaster, PA. It was clean and a total throw back experience!

The restaurant was very durty, there were 3 tables around us that remained uncleaned for 30 min while we were waiting for somebody to come and take our order. The place was not full at all, yet nobody came to our table, so we left as we didn’t want to wait for another hour for our food to arrive.

Stopped here for a late dinner. The young people that were work were nice and courteous. Food was really good. The lasagna had more meat in it than I am use to, but it was good. The apple dumpling my wife had was amazing. Would come back next time I am in the area.

Ew, just disgusting all around. First of all NOTHING in this place has been updated since prob the late 70’s. We got sat at a table and everything was just dingy and felt like it hadn’t been cleaned in years from the tabletop to the booth seats. I was going to Oder a side of bacon but I heard a waitress say, hey that side of bacon is in the microwave can u grab it. Umm yea no thanks. We were in a hurry bc on our way to Dutch wonderland so I told the hostess this so we could order right away. The waitress seemed to have a slight attitude from that point forward in my opinion. My pancakes were hard and just not good until I drowned them in syrup. I hardly wanted to eat from the silverware everything was just gross

My first time here, awful. Just awful. First we noticed the lobby is wonderfully cool, then when you actually go in to the sitting area it’s uncomfortably warm. We order onion rings and fish sticks for my daughter. Onion rings came out burned and busted open. Clear sign of dirty oil and dirty fryer. We sent them back, came back out the same way. Fish sticks were overcooked as well. She made excuses about the fryer. She did remove the onion rings from the bill. My husband ordered Chicken Pot Pie — which came out like chicken square noodle soup. This is not traditional Pennsylvania Dutch by any means. Which is what they advertise they serve. His side of broccoli never made it to the table. We never bothered to ask for it. We already knew there were no boxes leaving with us. I ordered a greek salad with chicken. It was pretty good, but the olives had the pits still in them, yuk! Feta Cheese is supposed to be crumbled, not cut in giant croûton size chunks. It wasn’t until my husband came out of the bathroom that I felt the urge to run out of there. He said, «Let’s get ot of here, you should see the bathrooms!» I asked him to explain. He said, «the urine smell will burn your eyes and there is no soap to wash your hands, so you know them cooks aren’t washing theirs either!» Oh gaggamaggot! We will never return. I’m sad that tourists and visitors that come to Lancaster County may think this greasy spoon is representative of the wonderful Pennsylvania Dutch cuisine that is made around here, because it’s not. Truth be told, the Amish throw slop to their pigs that is better than this. Avoid until they read their reviews here, hire new cooks, and clean and properly stock their bathrooms. Grody to the max!

I have been going to the Gap diner for breakfast once every three years or so for over 30 years. It has changed, but that’s not a bad thing. Back before the over building that has turned Route 30 into a 15 mile long strip mall, the diner was actually a tourist restaurant with gift shop. Vestiges of that remain, but this vintage diner is now a greasy touchstone for those who can’t take another processed fast-food breakfast. What to get? Whatever you want. You will get a large portion of tasty food. I like the Eggs Benedict Dutch Style with creamed chipped beef instead of hollandaise sauce.

Any of the sandwiches which were under $ 10 were hearty. Being there for business meant that price was not a concern. That being said. The menu items over $ 10 were delicious especially the honey batter fried chicken. Seating there was prompt yet the waiting time for food after ordering from the menu, in a party of 4 or more, was at least 10 – 15 minutes likely because everything there is cooked to serve.

If you want a good omelet in an old greasy spoon restaurant, then Gap Diner is the ticket. Knowing that it’s old, run down and not very clean is offset by decent breakfast fare and attentive friendly service. I wouldn’t go here for dinner with so many good choices around Lancaster… but coffee and a good omelet are at Gap Diner.

Yeechy. Used to be a quaint diner with PA Dutch flair now… not so much. I had ham with some kind of nasty raisin sauce I had to scrape off. Hubby had gyro and fries which he said were fine. Atmosphere hasn’t been updated since 1965 — in a bad way. Hostess didn’t know how to use the register. We used to eat here all the time and never again.

I came here for breakfast, and had a good experience. I got the Belgian waffle with apple topping, and hash browns. The Belgian waffle was quite good, and the apple topping was rich and flavorful. The hash browns were fine as well.

We stopped here during a road trip this summer as looked like a place with homemade food. What a mistake, this is the worst lace we have ever stopped at. I ordered the BOWL of Chili, see phone I took, it was a small cup and with that not eatable. If was full of kidney beans and tasted awful, It was all left left behind. Another person ordered the gyro, the meat slices all the same size and shape looked like it came out of a freezer bag and heated. When we got the check they charged for a bowl of chili, I had thought they had brought me a cup by accident, it didn’t matter as it couldn’t be eaten anyways. My advise, stay away from here.

Popped in here on the way out to Harrisburg. Great little homey place with clean counters and pleasant staff. I had the liver and onions, which was primo. My guest had the fried chicken and waffles which was a mountain of food. Only way to save room for the(excellent) apple pie was saving half my meal to go. Classic diner menu, and I would stop again anytime!

Stopped by the restaurant after a short trip to Lancaster. I hear a lot of bad reviews about this place, but I am not sure what everyone was talking about! I came here with three other people, and all of us really enjoyed the food. My uncle said the Chili was fantastic, he is a big chili lover! My aunt enjoyed the flavor of the chicken pot pie stew/soup. It was weirdly a chicken put pie with no pie lol. But she still enjoyed it, just be aware that there is no crust or pie! I got a sub with gyro meat and melted cheeses. It turned out to be delicious! I was not expecting a restaurant like this to have gyro meat, but the sandwich i got was great. Wish we got to try one of their pies off the extensive pie list, but we were too full!

Used to be a great place. Has seen better days! Food was awful, cold soup, greasy meatloaf and gravy full of lumps. Bathrooms? Filthy . Kitchen looked so dark, like they were using candles. 10 years ago, parking lot was full. Jan 2014? 5 cars. That should have been our warning. Sad, since location is perfect for tourists. Present owners should sell to someone that knows what they are doing. Don’t waste your time and money.

As a fan of Diners, and Dutch cooking we saw the Gap Diner and thought. Hey why not? Overall this place isn’t to bad. it’s really inexpensive, and the food is decent. You could get out of here with a family of 4 for under 30 bucks depending on what you decided to partake in. As for the Dutch food. Not a very big selection in fact I think you would find just as much«Dutch Food» on any Diner’s menu. This Diner appears to have a pretty long history, and local connections. Overall not to bad for a quick, and inexpensive lunch.

I like going to weird locally run diners, but this place was so sad and nasty it put me off the idea for a while. Service was by a nice guy, but you could tell he was embarrassed to be giving the food he had. Prices were quite reasonable. But the food was the worst food I’ve ever had, and I have really had to think if that can possible be the case, I have after all eaten in poor roadside stands in Yugolsavia pre-war and in dirt poor villages in the Philippines. But yes, this place really did give me the worst food I’ve ever had. I don’t wish this place harm, but the food was horrible and I have to warn others.

Came here and checked the Unilocal reviews before going in(obviously!) Was a little worried based on what I read, but was pleasantly surprised. This diner is a greasy one! Menus felt greasy, as did the on table promotional signs. The rest of the atmosphere was very old school, but not in a bad way. In fact, my grandmother found it very appealing(which says something.) The food wasn’t bad. I had one of the lunch specials. I went with the chicken salad melt which came with a cup of soup of my choice. I read on their menu that their chicken corn was home made so I picked that. I had high expectations for the soup as it was hyped up on the menu. It was nothing to write home about, but it was good. The chicken melt itself was very tasty and exactly what I was in the mood for. I was expecting it to be served open(not that they indicated it would be) but it was served as a normal sandwich. Enjoyable. Overall a fine, light lunch. Service was fine. They were happy to accommodate my request of American cheese instead of Swiss. No need to come out of your way to come here, but if you’re on your way somewhere and need to stop for a quick meal this place is fine.

The Gap Diner was a great, big DISAPPOINTMENT. After a long day of riding my sled, I was really looking forward to eating a good, traditional, diner meal. I should have settled for the Mickey D’s across the street. I had high hopes for the Gap. It looked the part, diner chic and all. Maybe even shades of a Greek Diner(they rock). Well…this was none of the above. It was a huge let down. The menu looks the part. I ordered a Rueben sandwich. I gagged it down. The waitress was more interested in impressing a broken down biker.(Wait…I’m a broken down biker!?!) Save your money. Eat somewhere else.
