Rudest clerk I’ve encountered in a very long time. In these economic times when booksellers are closing doors left and right, you would think that B Daltons would make sure the people they hire actually have people skills. I was there yesterday Dec 262011 with a friend looking for a late Christmas gift. We were in the children’s book section looking for books appropriate for a 4 year old. This surly clerk came back snipping at us that«There is NOSITTINGALLOWED!» What she should have done was ask us if we were finding everything we needed or even, god forbid, if we needed help. I ignored her rudeness and asked if she had a certain book that I knew another child had liked. She said she’d get it, «but you still can’t sit on the floor!» There was really no other way to look through the books on the bottom shelf, it’s not like they have chairs and we were actively shopping. She returned with the book then remained in the section to ensure we left. We’d been there for all of five minutes. RUDE, should not be dealing with customers at all. I also asked about a Pat the Bunny book and even with this response, she was nasty, condescending and snippy. You have got to be kidding me. People do come into bookstores to browse, that’s what they are there for… it’s not like we were reading books for enjoyment with no thought of buying, these were baby books! There were a few other books we were thinking of buying for different recipients, including a $ 40 star wars book for my friend’s brother in law, but after this unpleasant exchange decided we didn’t want to buy anything from this nasty clerk and left for a nearby competitor, probably never to return. Hey B Daltons, remember customers? Know what happens when your clerks are rude to them and make them uncomfortable and not wanted? Ever hear of Barnes and Noble or Amazon? Very sad to get such horrible service as I love bookstores.

A poor excuse for a bookstore, but it has a great magazine selection. The store is just too small to carry anything but what you’d find on a best sellers list. Amazon or nearby Barnes and Nobles.

I love this bookstore. It is located in the Roosevelt Field Mall, and is perfect for me to check out, while the wife shops in stores I can not stand. I have made it a regular stop when I am in the mall.
