What’s the purpose of making a reservation a month &11 days in advance with a ‘Special Request’ to be seated at a booth attached if the restaurant does not acknowledge its first come first serve patrons with priority and the utmost importance. I booked our reservation way in advance this year as my husband & are usually a last minute Valentine’s Day couple. We had been here numerous times and although the service can be mediocre we looked pass that. However, our Valentine’s dinner on 02÷13÷16 was cut out for quite an experience. We arrived at exactly 7pm(the time we scheduled the reservation). I had a hunch something was up & I said to my husband, ‘if we ever showed up late to a reservation they aren’t usually happy and now that we’re on time they’re not ready to seat us…’ To which he replied, ‘yeah you’re right.’ We waited patiently to hear our name called. Nothing happened for about 10−15mins. Then they called us. Here I am all excited that finally we’ll be seated and can enjoy our romantic time out. Boy were we in for a rude awakening. The young lady approached us and uttered, ‘I know you requested a booth but unfortunately one would not be ready until another hour.’ My entire stomach began fuming before the words escaped my tongue, ‘An hour! We booked our reservation over a month ago and you’re asking us to wait an hour!’ By this time my husband, the calm one of the bunch, said ‘we will take what’s available.’ This was truly not acceptable! She didn’t apologize, she didn’t offer any compensation and neither did any of them offer us a telephone call in advance to say we may not have the table we requested. By now you can tell I was not pleased. She took our need for romance & stomped on it like a bug beneath her foot. Her whole attitude & demeanor oozed ‘oh-well-I-don’t-give-a…’ I was ticked off! As we were escorted to a table crammed in the back room in the middle of the floor I looked to my left & noticed there was a table to the wall & asked if we could be seated there. You wouldn’t believe the response she gave: ‘I think that table is reserved.’ You have got to be kidding me! We made our reservations ages ago only to have that request overridden & now another couple is able to bask in their moment without an err. Hmmmmm… what’s wrong with this picture. As we sat, my husband could tell how angry & frustrated I was. 5 mins seated, no waiter/waitress acknowledged us. No water or bread offered. The servers all kept passing us as if we had become invisible. My husband saw this & said, ‘We’ve never had this experience.’ We waited patiently. In comes Cecilia — she checks on her previous guests, looks at our table and turned back to acknowledge the couple she just checked on. ‘Could she really be our server & if yes why did she make a u-turn.’ After chatting with the couple, it seemed she sucked up the idea that she was assigned to a black couple & she came over and said hi with a fake smile attached to her countenance. This my husband caught on to as well. He & I just looked at each other & listened as she tried to pretend as though she was truly happy we were there. He & I knew better as on one of our previous dates we watched as the manager with the grumpy face walked around to everyone’s table to ask how their meals were and three times she skipped by us. On this occasion I realized it had to be the color of our skin. I refused to accept this notion, but this time I didn’t. Finally the bread & water arrived. She took our drink order and left for 5+ mins. No drinks. At this point the fumes were igniting in ever fiber of my being but I tried to hold it in as my husband had requested that we try to have a good time. After all we were already there & trying to find another restaurant to accommodate us now would be futile. Here she comes with our drink — wine for my husband & a Shirley Temple for me(I don’t drink). I looked at my drink and realized — I have no cherry. The strikes keep piling up. I pointed this out to my husband & he insisted that I returned it. By this time I soliloquized what else could go wrong. How many more disappointments could really come our way. Seriously! As they seated another couple next to us, we noticed a change in Cecilia, she went over & loving introduced herself to them, they were given a much more genuine approach. No problems, my aim was to observe. Then the man ordered an entire bottle of wine — $ 82.30 bottle of wine to be exact. Cecilia kissed their derrière until we left. It’s truly amazing to see how they treat their patrons. Just like everyone else who enter their doors we are paying customers. It’s just sad to see in this era that people of our skin color are still be overlooked or ignored. We came out for a wonderful time & instead we were able to solidify what my husband & I had been observing — skin color makes a difference. It wasn’t a good night for us but my husband managed to keep me happy during it all. Off to Capital Grille we go from now on.

Way too pricy for this level of food and service. Last time I came here, it was a very decent restaurant with nice food. But yesterday, the food was a disaster. First the composition was so awful, salad was like a bunch of grass on the plate, stuffed shrimp was jus four shrimp lying on the plate and seasoning all over, steak was just one big meat. It was like red lobster level. In my memory, this restaurant should be in Morton’s level. But I was wrong. The servant gave our bill without realizing we ordered dessert! would never come back again.

Certainly not in the category this restaurant should be given the name Ruth’s Chris steakhouse. The service was just about as in a local diner, atmosphere leaves much to be desired and the place needs a much needed facelift. The food however was in line with expectations and to the standard one would come to expect from the name.

I was lucky enough to go to the Ruth’s in the Northbrook, Illinois location last year. Wanted to share the experience with the family, and it didn’t disappoint. Enjoyed an excellent filet and sides. Try the fried calamari in the hot chili oil(I had this dish in Illinois, but it was offered in Garden City only as a special appetizer the night we went.) Dessert is not to be missed, if you have the room. We had very attentive service. Not cheap, but good for a splurge now and then. As far as comparison’s to Luger’s — frankly, I have enjoyed both establishments equally well.

3 ½ stars. I was invited back to dine at their Garden City location. This time we had a five top, six pm reservation on a Sat nite. Our server was extremely attentive, got drinks out right away, apps started before dinner order was placed. Keep in mind the food comes out in 500 degree plates, servers will also caution you to this. We ordered a couple of their cowboy ribeye specials, sides consisted of mash potatoes, asparagus, a tower of onion rings along with some tomato mozzarella. My husband and I learned from prior experience and ordered our entrees to come out with warm plate instead of their usual. This was a pleasant dining experience. Thanks.

Excellent food and great staff. Im from queens and i travel frequently to this location due to me not really liking the ruth Chris in the theatre district. The staff here is great and very attentive and i love that. The décor as well is very warming and very elegant and i love that ass well. Sides were great and the fillet mignon was out of this world. I wish i could say that about the theatre district location but there fillet was more like a hockey puck on a plate not the biggest fan of that location, but this location is great.

I went there today for me and my boyfriends 5 year anniversary, I called made a reservation they asked the occasion & I told them. When we got there, we were seated at a Table that was already prepared with rose petals and a happy anniversary card. I thought that was so sweet. Our waiter, was so nice and friendly. His name is mike. He read out the whole menu to us just cause it was our first time there. And we got free dessert! Lava cake. This was my first but not my last time at this place. I highly recommend it. I would give it more stars if it was possible

The lobster Mac is terrible but the steak was so good and the drink was amazing. I forgot the name. But it was amazing and our waiter was so nice. Do not get the lobster Mac

Waiter refused to cut a party of 11 into 4 checks and felt the need to embarrass one of the couples by giving them their own waiter even though they were part of the whole party. Ribeye on the price fixe was a slight step up from Outback. Bread used to be better. Goto Lugers, Wolfgangs or Capital Grille. You can keep your 500 degree plates.

Definitely one of the top steak houses I’ve been to. The steak melts in your mouth. The sweet potato casserole is out of this world. The desserts are also amazing.

Excellent service! I find steak good but not the best I’ve eaten. Will go back for the service and the romantic ambience.

Went here for my wedding rehearsal dinner and also my first date night since the baby and the service and food have only gotten better. The steaks are delicious and well seasoned. The service is impeccable. They showered my table with red rose petals and gave us free dessert because it was our first date night since the baby was born 2 years ago. They are warm loving people and they welcomed us with such great hospitality. You won’t regret going to this place.

I had a great experience at Ruth’s Chris. I dined in with a group of 12, our reservation was for 630pm but my mother and I arrived a bit early. Instead of waiting in the front we noticed it was Happy Hour and proceeded to get seats at the bar. We spent over an hour there waiting for the rest of the group to arrive and were taken care of by the bartender. My moscato was delicious and the Niki BBE martini I had was also a nice combination but weak. Bacardi, Malibu, pineapple juice, triple sec and a splash of blue curacao not overly sweet but still weak. The décor is very traditional with navy walls, blue curtains and dark wood; your typical American steakhouse. They definitely could have recorded a scene from the Godfather in there lol. The restaurant was decorated festively as well, poinsettia here, reef there. They also placed jingling bells on our place settings, which we all wore around around our necks during dinner. Our original reservation was for 10 people but the manager Mariola was extremely accomodating concerning our additional 2 guests. The table next to us was occupied but Mariola approached them and explained the dilema. In exchange for their table she offered them a comped appetizer/dessert. They happily obliged and we were grateful for the extra space. The food was excellent! I had the blackened salmon with a side of sweet potato casserole. In my entire 30 years of being on this earth I have never, EVER had salmon that was as delicious as the one that I got last night! It was blackened to perfection, all the right seasonings crusted on top, so flavorful and moist. Ughh I’m drooling just thinking about it! The sweet potato casserole wasn’t the prettiest of dishes but it was absolutely delicious. It wasn’t too sweet, some of the potatoes were still in tact(not all mashed), theres was a subtle honey flavor and an awesome crunch on top from the pecans. All in compass my meal was delightful. Everyone else at the table raved about their food. Stand out items were the lamb chops, crab cakes and salmon ofcourse. All in all the service was good and the food, impeccable! I would return, just on someone elses dollar lol

I have been going to this location for about 10 years now and have noticed that the quality is suffering. They produced some of the best steak available early on — their cowboy ribeye was phenomenal. Lately, however not so flavorful steak. Ruth’s «thing» is to deliver your steak on a scorching hot plate with the meat sizzling in butter. I feel the seasoning that was once a high point has been toned down. While they report the steak as «Prime» it tastes just short of that. The sides have also suffered with time. They once had an escargot appetizer which was awesome– now removed from their menu. The BBQ shrimp is still an definitely something that should be ordered. I am in love with the Ruth’s chopped salad(sans the bacon) — THIS is what every salad should aspire to become.; the portion size could well be a meal in itself(just to be sure pair it with a cup of their awesome lobster bisque). Their lyonnaise potatoes were once very good– but now smaller in quantity size and just not what-it-was 10 years ago. It’s a steak place amongst many in the NY area — good place to dine. Stellar steak? No. Reliable and good service? Yes. Probably a go-to place with a group for a good dinner with plenty of options on the menu for varied tastes.

Our family came to Ruth’s Chris(RC) for my parent’s wedding anniversary. We each ordered the Ruth’s Classic which comes with an appetizer, entrée, side, and dessert for about $ 46 – 55 depending on the entrée you choose. I had a gumbo which was very warming and a medium-well rib eye steak with a side of mashed potatoes. The steak was full of flavor and was probably the best I have ever had. I also tried the filet mignon which despite being cooked well done was very tender, though not as flavorful as the rib eye. The garlic mashed potatoes were great and complimented the steak perfectly. Another great side to try out is the lobster macaroni which is usually a special offered at RC. For dessert I tasted the bread pudding and the chocolate cake with ice cream. The bread pudding was decent but I wasn’t a huge fan of the latter as I felt the chocolate was slightly bitter. The staff at RC are very friendly and our waiter was very informative. The ambiance was nice but the noise level can get a bit loud at times. There is no dress code, most guests were wearing semi-formal attire but I did see people in t-shirts and jeans as well. The food of course is pricey but RC is several notches above most steakhouses. Ruth’s Chris is the place to celebrate those once in a year special occasions. I wouldn’t recommend bringing a guy/girl here on a first date, he/she will expect too much from you afterwards as RC sets the bar pretty high!

Great Service, I stop by this establishment at least every few months. I usually have a great waiter/server/dining-room attendant/restaurant attendant. Their are no words to describe his art. I seem to always be seated in Dan(the man with the plan and a mind reader) area. Before I finish the last sip of my drink he has another one on the way. When it comes to customer service, this man should be going around the US(United States… not us) teaching others how customer service works. The food and the drinks are always great. Thank you Ruth Chris for hiring this guy. V/r P

Went here for my 5 year anniversary. The service was impeccable, the food was cooked and served to perfection! I opted for the T-bone steak medium rare my wife, the filet mignon. Tasty, filling and by far the best steak I have ever had! Location is pretty easy to find! Parking can be tedious but you’ll find a spot! Overall an exceptional experience and I can’t wait to go back!

I am embarrassed to say I’ve never been to Ruth’s Chris before last night because I always assumed it was an Outback Steakhouse type of place. I was very, very wrong. My hubby and I went last night for our anniversary. The décor inside is very classy yet modern. We were seated immediately and were greeted by our AWESOME server Dan. He gave us a brief history of the restaurant, told us about some specials, and was just overall funny and pleasant. I wish every server was as enthusiastic as him. We split: The Cowboy Ribeye(with a blue cheese crust)-Cooked perfectly and the crust was heavenly, just wish there was more of it Shoestring Fries-So so crispy. The portion is huge. I kept eating and eating and still didn’t make a dent. Creamed spinach-the perfect flavor and consistency They also gave us with a complimentary dessert for our anniversary, which was really nice. We got the chocolate mousse cheesecake which was a great sweet ending to a savory meal. I’ve been to many steakhouses around Long Island and NYC and this place ranks pretty high. I will definitely be returning more often.

It was my first time at Ruth Chris. I had an amazing experience. The service was amazing and so was the food. Will definitely go back. Ordered a NY strip and Petite Filet both medium rare. Side of garlic mash, creamed spinach, and lobster mac and cheese. Steaks come out on a piping hot plate, drenched in butter. All delicious!

I have had better food at other, less expensive steakhouses, however I will probably come back just because of the customer service. My boyfriend and I visited Ruth Chris for his birthday. Our reservation was originally for 8pm but we called in and asked if we could come a half hour earlier and they were happy to accommodate us. CUSTOMERSERVICE– was awesome. When we visit steak houses similar to Ruth Chris I often feel that we are not treated as nicely because we are younger than most that usually visit places like this but I did not feel like that at Ruth Chris. EVERYONE was friendly from the hostesses, to the bus boys, to the people filling our glasses with water to our waiter Kathy. We truly couldn’t have asked for more. The table had a nice red ribbon on it and a birthday card for my boyfriend which was a nice touch. Kathy was amazing. She explained the menu very well and made great recommendations. She needs a raise and I promise I will ask for her everytime I come here. PS: I don’t usually remember the name of our waiters/waitresses after we leave a restaurant but her service was so good that I couldn’t forget it. FOOD– was just okay. I have the ribeye and my boyfriend had filet mignon. He said that his was good but mines reminded me of hamburger meat and was lacking flavor. The mashed potatoes were perfect! The cream spinach tasted like spinach dip not my cup of tea. The gumbo was amazing and dessert was very good. Overall the experience was a good one again and like I said I would come again just because the customer service was so great I probably would just try different food options. Happy Unilocaling :)
