Garden Grove Regional Library

This is a really nice library! The staff are friendly and really helpful! The bookstore has good deals too! I love how there is a pond outside to sit and relax.

Nice library with ducks outside. Came here for the first time since I was visiting the area on a Saturday. Went inside and the worker there, a young male sitting on the left table towards entrance was very kind and helpful.

One of the few libraries open on a Sunday in the OC, which explains why there’s always a lot of people here. The place is kind of small, but the WiFi speed is adequate. Located right next to a park area.

Why the hell do you bring a toddler to library?!! Isn’t library supposed to be quiet? Came here to study and this baby constantly crying every 5 seconds and their parents didn’t even do anything to make the baby stop. How ignorant! If you can’t control your kids, please go somewhere besides library. Library is not the kindergarten or playground for kids. Smh

I am a semi– retired College Professor and I have found the Garden Grove Regional Public Library, a wonderful place to spend time searching for information, working on their multiple computer systems, selecting and browsing-​over their large selection of books, working on my projects, tutoring my students, and interacting with a wide variety of people from the local community, mostly Vietnamese and White American, who come to the library in search for knowledge and a meaningful learning experience. The library offers multiple types of learning programs, dedicated to adults, youth and children. Its two wide open levels, offer a variety of areas, some of them more quiet than other ones. Upstairs is dedicated mostly to adults, for reading, studying, and computer work. Downstairs, there are busy areas, dedicated to children and their parents, teachers and tutors, somewhat noisy, but appropiate for these activities, where verbal communication is escential and natural part of it. Young children are sometimes loud, expressing their enthusiasm for reading and getting books to take home, in company of their parents. The youth area, has diverse multimedia programs, and is more quiet and very friendly. The diverse groups establish close relationships and team work. A strong sense of community is clearly displayed. All library personnel are extremely friendly and professional, and always open to help and support you in finding the proper solution to your needs and desires. Parking has always been easy, even being able to find shaded spots, thanks to the trees of the very beautiful park that surrounds the library building, with plants, ponds and a variety of geese, ducks, and roosters. I have been a patron of a couple of dozen public libraries in Orange County, and to be sincere, the Garden Grove Regional has become in just few months, one of my very favorites. George Frank.

EARBUDS ARE A MUST. There’s a library worker in the evenings that has the absolute worst, most annoying Woody Woodpecker laugh EVER. There are homeless people here a lot and some shady looking people. Kinda dirty. I come here to work while my son is at practice. At least they have free wifi and I didn’t have to go to Starbucks and spend $ 6 bucks for a drink just to get free wifi.

I used to go to this library a lot as a kid so I’ll always love it! It’s large, especially in comparison to surrounding libraries. I’ve been a few times in the last 10 years and it has been fine. It’s pretty quiet and they’ve added a bookstore with its own entrance on the main level.
It’s hard for me to hate any library!

Shittiest library I have ever been to in my whole life. No way a single second of peace would ever be spent here. Loud, dirty, annoying and mean staff (except the Asian ones, and this old white man) plus drunk homeless and kids running around screaming. I am not telling a single lie since I’ve been here for a while because I need a place to study for anatomy class. Based on my experience, the fatter a librarian working in here is, the louder they are. Trust me, the fattest white ones are the loudest. I think there are two of them, and together they make this shitty library become the worst library ever. If you really want to read or study, pick some other places. If you’re planning to take your kids here, please respect others and keep your children quite!

What a horrible downstairs librarian in the kid’s area today at 1 PM. She would not stop talking, despite us asking her repeatedly to do so. Incredible that rather than enforcing quietness she made some excuse about how it’s usually so loud in there. No wonder with someone like her in charge.

This library is so so. If you really need a place to do work in the area I guess this is an ok spot. The wifi is mediocre and can barely load a youtube video without lagging. There’s people talking on cell phones and loud children running around. Staff doesn’t do anything about it and are sometimes loud themselves.
If they were more strict about managing the place I would give it 4 stars. Its a library for goodness sakes, take your phone calls outside! The audacity of some people…

This is one of a very well stocked Library with free wi-​fi for the Public and a great selection of magazines. The librarians are friendly. The only qualms I have about this Library is that it is infested, on Saturdays with quite a few homeless people. However their silly antics some times contribute to great people watching. So that negative works sometimes as a positive.

There’s mutated ducks and chickens here. And homeless people late at night. And teenagers at day. Pretty scary place for a human.

Years ago while I lived a few miles away I used to come here and read some books and relax. My son used to call this place Duck duck library, of course due to the duck in the pond. It is across the street from a hight school, I beleive many students will come here after school to hang around with friends or do homework.

They have so many programs through out the year, its great for everyone to join and participate! There are teen volunteers, adult volunteers, teen programs, summer reading programs, etc. The awards are cool too!
There is a new bookstore on the outside of the library. The bookstore helps out financially with the prizes and supplies the library with cool stuff too!
The reference is extremely knowledgeable and is super willing to help at anytime!
The ducks are a plus at the park outside the pond. They are fun to watch! Very tranquil and relaxing. (except their poop on the ground)

When I say Im going to the Lie Berry in the Garden Grove/​Westminster area this is where I’m going, not the Gentleman’s Library. Silly kids!
Anyways, I grew up going to this public library. My aunt and uncle both attended GGHS and I would spend a lot of time chillin here with my grandpa waiting on them to get outta school. The park area near the library is also very nice (though dirty, thanks a lot ducks). The police station is nearby so don’t bring any donuts here cuz you will get pulled over and the cops will «search your vehicle» and leave you hungry because all the donuts will just «disappear».
Ok very serious, its a library so you get what you expect; books, computers, study areas, rowdy teens, bums, the works. Do I recommend it, sure why not.

Fines: Although it’s just 25 c /​overdue book per day but the bill may be big depending on the number of checkout items/​No. Of overdue days etc. Avoid paying fines by renewing your items on-​line by creating a free a/​c mentioned below.
Creating an online a/​c for Free: You can also create an on-​line a/​c (check with your library branch) and login to –1. review your a/​c 2. Renew your checked out items (I use this all the time to renew my books once they are due if I still need them).
Note: You can renew each books on-​line only 2 or 3 times.
You can also set email alerts to send reminders for the Due date of your checkout items. All right enough said on due items but believe me I see people paying fines all the time at the counter because either they forgot their books were due/​overdue etc.
Checkouts: While checking out books (like other Unilocaler have mentioned) it’s always good to be alert and cross check all items were scanned, conditions of the books/​items prior to check out.
While returning items cross-​check all items were scanned that you have returned and check the return slip to validate.
Also this library has a nice pond with ducks, roosters, bunnies, turtles and homeless people hang around here too (just like the other parks), but we always have fun feeding the animals, chasing them. It’s like a petting zoo :)

Overall libraries are a great resource for books, events, story-​time for kids, activities, home work help, a great centre for learning & knowledge, books, DVDs, CDs, digital downloads, Virtual Galleries, databases, programs, videos, and so much more, after-​all we should support our public libraries for the brighter future of our kids.

As far as a library goes. less than average. The wifi is extremely iffy. The staff is not very friendly at all, and it is always loud from all the school kids. The bathrooms always stink, are a complete mess, and are never stocked with paper products. Plus all homeless people bathing and brushing their teeth is a huge turn off. No wonder they call it «Garbage Grove.»

Crowded and noisy
BEWARE when checking out. TWICE now I’ve been accused of creating damage to books that had already happened before I checked them out. I can understand it happening once, but to have the same thing again within a matter of a couple of months? I’ve donated $ 1000s in materials over time and don’t mind paying the random late fine when it happens, but please don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s raining.
If you’re smart like I should have been it would be good to scan through the pages of each book with the clerk BEFORE you let them scan the barcode

You ever go to a location and leave feeling you need to take a long shower to clean yourself off? This place does exactly that! Small, loud location, bad lighting, smells bad at the bottom floor, tables are often sticky and dirty, and hardly any outlets for your laptop unless you sit at those small electrical tables. This library has Dirty restrooms and many of the librarians don’t go the extra mile to help you with finding your books. And this review is posted after giving this place 3 – 4 chances, not just a one time experience. Avoid when necessary.
