I ordered a fried egg banh mi, and the inside was doused with a cloyingly sweet, teriyaki-like sauce. I’ve never met an egg sandwich I didn’t like… until this one. I couldn’t even finish it.

What’s the point of taking phone orders when you only start making them after I get here?

I came here on a Sat to purchase the pâté chaud. First, they are three for $ 2.50. They are a combination of pork and chicken BUT have a dry liver taste. There is too much dough versus the meat part and it’s dry and overbaked. I’ve eaten many pâté chaud, including my mothers homemade French Vietnamese version, and the one here is awful. I won’t return nor recommend.

Best Banh Mi ever! Forget Lee’s sandwiches or any of those other places. This is the best place out there. I literally have driven 30 min or more JUST to come get me a sandwich here. I have even made a run at work and came and bought dozens of Banh mi for my co-workers. They are fast and very delicious. My favorite one is the one with egg. The bread is so flaky and crispy and fresh. They even sell the loafs separately.

Great sandwiches! The bread is perfectly crunchy and soft inside. We always get the combination which has all the meat and egg. The buy 3 get 1 free deal is ridiculous since the sandwiches are already like 3 bucks.

Banh mi is just a Vietnamese sandwich right? Wrong! Maybe if you’re hitting up Lee’s Sandwiches. And why would you anyway?! Quality and quantity, this is the place to go. The banh mi dac biet here is the best in my book. It’s not your average dac biet, though, it comes with spam and fried egg on top of the usual bbq pork, daikon, carrots, cilantro, and jalapenos. The baguette is flaky and not too crispy. Size wise, it’s perfect, where all the ingredients are evenly distributed. Great balance of flavors in every single bite. I also fiend for avocado shakes, and here it is blended very well. Not overly sweet and not clumpy. Price is a bit higher than Lee’s and Banh Mi Che Cali. And you have to buy 3 to get 1 free. But with an egg and spam, it’s not surprising. They have plenty of other choices, and you are not limited to just sandwiches. There are a few seats, but this is more of a to go kind of establishment. It can get packed, so you might want to consider taking it to go.

Okay, so I work nearby… I eat here often. Almost a regular. Figured by now you wouldn’t serve me your old french rolls. However, on a good day the sandwiches are great. The Đc bit is good and the spam with egg is great when fresh. Been eating spam my whole life, would taste better fresh as opposed to sitting out. Just sayin… The service, well they’re old school Vietnamese. There is no service. Lol Just buy and get the fugg out!

I LOVE the banh mi DACBIET here! It’s not the typical kind with cold cuts and pâté/butter. YOU must try it to see how it ROCKS the yummy scale. ***The French baguette is flaky and crispy. This sandwich has savory bbq pork, spam(instead of pâté), cucumber and fried egg. They add pickled daikon, carrots, cilantro, and sliced jalapeños. The best part is the ‘secret sauce’ that is drizzled on the bread. One delicious sandwich for breakfast or lunch. I frequently stop here in the mornings for their SPECIAL – buy 3 banh mi and get one free. Less than $ 10 will feed yourself and 3 work mates! Start your day on the right track with a protein packed meal…

First off, only eat here if you like fatty meat and don’t care about your waist line. :) They call«Spam» = «Ham» = «Pâté». Their«Ham» /«Pâté» is actually«SPAM» Banh Mi Dac Biet = Egg + SPAM + Fatty Barbecue Pork = Delicious, a bit salty if they put too much soy sauce in it, still yummy yet fatty. Banh Mi Grilled Pork = Half fat, half pork, sometimes it smells a little, tastes decent, but sometimes it’s too fatty that I have to pick out all the fat before I can enjoy it. They usually have a deal like buy three get one free or something. Banh Mi comes in rounded small size soft yet crunchy at the same time. If you are like me, I only order the Banh Mi Dac Biet and that’s it.

Really really disappointed. Stopped by today wanting to explore new banh mi places instead of always going to the same few locations and got an iced coffee($ 2) a number one(pork, $ 2.50) and egg rolls(.75¢ ea) The coffee is good the flavor is nice and I wouldn’t be opposed to getting this again. What I didn’t like is the ice they use are huge chunks of ice which get in the way and make it so you actually get less coffee. My coffee ended up being about 6 sips and I have a cup full of ice left. I have always in every other Vietnamese establishment gotten the small small crushed ice. The banh mi had good flavor I enjoyed the different additions they put in it that I haven’t had at other places, like cucumber. But the pork was so so so fatty. I actually had to pick out quite a bit of it which was really unappetizing. Yeah it was $ 2.50 and you get what you pay for but down the street I know a good place that charges $ 2.75 and the quality is much better. Lastly the egg rolls. They were the driest egg rolls I have ever had in my life. Which is sad because they didn’t taste bad they were just really hard to eat because of how dry they were. They were also extremely peppery which I actually like but I know some people may not feel the same. I wish I could say I would try them again but I don’t think I will. I’m hoping the fatty sandwich and dry egg rolls were a fluke but I’m not very hopeful on that.

I got #1, pork sandwich for 2.50. Pork had nice flavor and was very tender. It was the red bbq pork not the grilled pork. Would recommend! Also ordered the pâté chaud 3 for 2.50. Cheap but would not recommend. It was a little stale and didn’t have that much meat. The smoothies looked pretty good. Went on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty packed.

I came on a Sunday afternoon, craving for some good banh mi. This place popped up on Unilocal with pretty good reviews so I decided to try it out. The usual Asian service did not surprise me but the mold I saw on the bite sized desserts in the refrigerated displayed grossed me out a bit-what a turn-off for my taste buds. By that time I had already ordered my banh mi dac biet(combo). This place is a bit different because this sandwich, oddly did not come with pâté… but instead had a fried egg and fried spam along with the usually meets. The sandwich was pretty good but the pâté had a weird taste to it(and I don’t think it was a mind thing due to the fact that I saw mold on something). I was kind of glad to see that this place had quite a few customers so it helps me think at least the food in the back is fresh. But I would really think twice about returning.

Their Banh Mi is life changing! It has the usual fixings of pickled shredded dairkon raddish and carrots, sliced jalapenos, cucumbers, cilantro springs, some kind of fish sauce(or maggi seasoning) and your choice of meat. But what set it apart from the rest is their bread. Their Vietnamese baguette is perfection. The outside has a nice crunch and not too hard, while the inside is soft and not mushy. And it’s only $ 2.50−3.25. So cheap! They also have hot foods available, smoothies and lots of baked goods. I had to try their CHICKENCURRY recommended by Unilocalers, and it was amazing! It has a strong lemongrass taste. I really like it! The place is really small and gets pretty packed during lunch hour. I came around 12pm and there were a lot of people. I waited 20 minutes to get my food. I went back the next day around 11:30 am and it was much better and got my food in 5 minutes ^_^. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to Lee’s O_o

Hands down one of my favorite banh mi places. All the ingredients put into the banh mi are so fresh and the flavors intertwine perfectly. My go to banh mi is just the banh mi thit, simple but delicious after school or work!

People are still going to Lee’s Sandwiches?! It’s crazy when you hear that most individual’s only know of Banh Mi because of Lee’s. Really… the place that serves sandwiches that taste like plastic? With options like Banh Mi Cali and my recent discovery, Thanh Tam, there are NOEXCUSES. It all started when my coworker gave me a sandwich from Thanh Tam at lunch and I was instantly hooked after the first bite. The baguette wasn’t so hard where it’ll cut the roof of my mouth yet provides a nice crunch. Additionally, the bread wasn’t so soft that it feels like you’re eating mush. I’ve only tried and ordered the Banh Mi Dac Biet and frankly this puts all other Banh Mi’s to shame. I personally love having a fried egg on anything and everything(almost everything) and I admire that in addition to the pork sausage and pork belly, Thanh Tam adds in Spam and Fried Eggs to their Special. Who knew the addition of spam and eggs can change an already delicious sandwich. Literally a mouthgasm. They also have a buy 3 get one free special so you can gorge yourself throughout the week. The portion size is perfect and I would usually finish a Banh Mi and want to another half. With Thanh Tam, I’m perfectly content with just one. I also ordered the Avocado shake which was blended to perfection. It was the perfect amount of sweetness to go with the Avocado’s creaminess, just like how mom did it. Most places can go overboard with the sugar/condense milk. I am definitely a fan and can no longer look at any other Banh Mi spots the same way again. Thanh Tam is a love/hate relationship with pickled veges: Looove the food /Hate that it has ruined me for any other Banh Mi outside Vietnam.

Bánh mì xíu mi is so good, but it smell like somebody farted in the car. I thought my son did #2, nope — it was the sandwich. I don’t know why it smell like that, but it tasted authentic, just like when I had it in the old country. Also their egg and Patê sandwich is great too, but the pâté is actually can meat(Spam), not the liver stuff that seems to give white people the look of disgust.

Opps I Unilocaled it again I read your reviews Got lost in your words. Oh baby I think I am full I ate my Bahn Mi Im oh so satisfied. Located on Euclid just past Westminster ave on the right hand side if your going south on Euclid in the corner facing the street. My GPS took me across the street. BADGPS!!! Parking can be tight closer to the shop, so park in the larger lot and walk on over. Once you enter their menu of Bahn Mi sandwiches with pictures are posted on the wall. Plus they have an additional menu fir banh mi sandwiches on a small 8 by 10 board on top of the counter. If your not into sandwiches they offer spring rolls, bakery items and hot foods behind a case. Service is fast and friendly a few workers greeted me and offered me their smiles. I had the chicken banh mi, listed on the smaller menu. It was prepared in a french roll packed with Rotisserie style shredded chicken and had a nice flavor, accompanyied by standard veggies, cucumber slice, cilantro, carrots, pepper, you know the usual suspects for a banh mi, and a thin layer of spread. I would of liked to taste their spread in every bite, but I didnt. That was my only disappointment. I added a little butter at work and a sprinkle of black pepper and made it all better. But, I will say this is my favorite chicken meat out of all the Bahn Mi places. Its almost like a shredded bbq Rotisserie. My Café Sua Da was not filled to the top, which disappointed me. Its not as strong as I like it, or as sweet but I did enjoy it. A solid 4 Stars, maybe 4.5 stars. I will return to see if its 5 Stars next week. I spent $ 4.75 for lunch. Money well spent. 3.5* Been eating these scrumptious Vietnamese sandwiches since I was a kid. My papa would buy them home after shooting pool @ Bida Thanh Tam. Fast forward and now they got a bakery that sells bake goods and Vietnamese to-go food. My Go-To spot for banh-mi. Well, here and Top Baguette. Still tastes the same as it did years ago. Thit Nguoi and Dac Biet are my favs. Dat Biet has eggs & spam on top of the thit nguoi. Bread is good too. Not doughy. Very light and airy. Still taste great after re-toasting it hours later. Their special sauce drizzled inside is delicious and what makes their banh-mi so yummy. The Crack Sauce is on the sweeter side so for those who are saltier eaters, y’all may not fancy it. Baguette bread is extra, worth the extra .50 cents. Definitely take advantage of the 3 get 1 deal and definitely try to call ahead to order bc they take a minute making these YUMMY suckas. Final thought… Good sandwiches, great deal w the 3 get 1. Give it a try.

Their bread is to die for! You can get the baguette by itself or get any banh mi with this delicious, buttery goodness. It’s flakey, crispy but soft at the same time. I got the pâté egg banh mi; of course buy 3 get one free. Whenever I have to get a bunch for some group get together, I always try to get it from here. You won’t be disappointed! It’s the best in an area with the best banh mi!
