I come to Calty salon for my eyelash extensions! Even for the touch ups! The staff here are always very accommodating and friendly.
The extensions itself are definitely high quality and you can pick from different looks like natural or gorgeous. I normally get the «gorgeous» look which is a fuller look with a higher thread count. I only need to come in for a fill once every three weeks or so! The fills usually take about under an hour depending how much I would have to fill and appointments are really easy to make. I always make them last minute but they can still squeeze me in during their week.
Highly recommend!

Overcharge & refuse to money back. They say once they charged to credit card, they can not refund!!! Then, they say they will keep overcharge amount for next time service. NO WAY! Never go back there.

Shitty job. I can’t believe how they died my hair like that. If you want good service and quality, don’t go. You will regret.

Great beauty find in the Southbay! I needed a last minute weekend appointment and Calty’s was able to accommodate me the following day. Ami did a great job cutting my hair and giving it some movement. She asked key questions about length, volume and where I part my hair. After that, she knew exactly what she wanted to do to create my hairstyle. Although this salon has predominately Japanese-​speaking clientele, I didn’t have any problems communicating with any of the staff. You could always bring a photo to help, but I didn’t even have that and was just fine. For the price ($ 40), I was really impressed. I noticed the website said $ 35 for women’s haircut, but I assume the extra $ 5 was for my longish and thick hair. Anyways, it was still a steal with what I usually pay. Totally worth noting is that I got the best head massage and shampoo here! When I walked out, I felt so confident with a fresh and flattering new haircut! All in all, I was really happy with my first service here.
The main area downstairs is a little small, but they do offer a sitting area with magazines if you have to wait. It looks like there is an upstairs area– I assume for their spa services (eyelash ext. and perms). Parking in Tozai can be rough at night just because the spots are too small and the two exits to the lot get congested. Luckily, I made an AM appt and parking was easy. I really read up on salons before I go, so Calty’s impressed me and I wouldn’t hesistate to go back!

This is a small salon that gets quite busy. I did enjoy my visit and will be coming back.
They offer the signature head massage and hot tea option as all japanese hair salons do. The crowd here is 20 – 35 and the hair dressers are also in that age range.
Prices are moderate compared to other salons as services are also comparable.

I’ve always had long hair so I was super nervous coming into the place to get it chopped off. (Wanted to donate my hair and was over my heavy hair giving me headaches). She did an amazing job. Took me awhile to get used to my new do but now I love it and I think I will always have short hair now :) thank you!

I have been coming to Calty Salon for many years, and I get my eyelash extensions here and they do an amazing job! I always ask for Tiffany to do my extensions, and she never failed to impress me. She would do an amazing job with the different styles of extensions. When I first started getting extensions, I didn’t know anything about it, but Tiffany helped me choose a style that I like, and you can always go to her for any maintenance for your extensions!
She also does eyelash perms, which also looks amazing! I get lots of compliments from people about my eyelashes and it’s amazing to feel confident in your looks.
Definitely a go-​to place! :)

Read the reviews on Unilocal and decided to give this salon a try. I got my hair cut by Hitomi and I am so pleased with the results! I’ve been getting so many compliments on my hair! The salon is a bit packed inside, but the service and the prices are great. I will definitely come back here again :)

Heads up: This place is more for Japanese speakers. Most of the staff seem to only speak Japanese.
This is a great place to get a haircut if you’re looking for a low budget but good salon. They wash your hair, massage your head, and cut. Free drinks are offered, including tea, juice, pop, and coffee. :)
For a cut, I paid $ 35 + tip, which is half the price of other Japanese hair salons out in West LA… so it’s worth the drive!
It’s located inside a strip mall with a lot of restaurants, so definitely go show off your new do afterwards! ;)

I have been going back for Eye Lash Extension for almost every month. And I love them!!! I think she is very detail oriented and gentle. I always fall asleep while she is working on me. The charge is not higher or lower compare with other salons, some beverlylhills salon charges $ 140 or more for not so detailed work and less amount of lashes. I read previous bad review, but I really do not have any complaints and I will go back to them, actually I have an appointment today for touch up. I sent my friend there and she was happy.

My boyfriend and I got our haircuts here last night per the recommendation of our friend who frequently goes here to get her haircut. Shinya cut my hair and Kaori cut my bf’s hair.
First, my bf was afraid this place doesn’t cut men’s hair, but it turned out really nicely and we both love his new haircut! I used to only take him to Rooster’s barbershop where I thought the people there already took their time to make my bf look good (and they are really good!). But Kaori took her time to go above and beyond THAT so that already says a lot about the quality of her work. I can’t say much because she didn’t cut my hair except for that I love what she did with his hair. :)
Shinya then sat me down and asked what I wanted to do with MY hair. I never know what to do so I just told him wjat I tell all other stylists that cut my hair. I told Shinya I usually get a medium layer, but if he has any good recommendations in mind that he thinks is better he’s free to do whatever with my hair as long as it’s not too short nor anything too crazy. Though it was a bit hard communicating because of the language barrier, he delivered BIG TIME! I can tell he’s really nice and funny. It is always entertaining for me to watch how stylists cut my hair because I wonder what they’re thinking while cutting my hair, and so far Shinya has been the most focused and MOST detailed. He gave me a massage whilst washing my hair and took his time in everything. I’ve never had my hair worked on by somebody longer than Shinya has, which is a good thing because I am EXTREMELY HAPPY with the results! My hair is really straight so I know how difficult it mist be for Shinya to make it look like it has a lot of volume. Until last night, I NEVER went to the same salon TWICE. But I think I just found my new permanent stylist!!! :)
I wish I was more prepared with cash. Since my bf paid, I didn’t feel right asking my bf for more money to tip. We tipped how we normally tipped for the price of a cut, but I honestly felt the stylists in this salon went above and beyond. Everything Shinya did for me last night would have been $ 80 elsewhere WITHOUT tip EASY! I’m sure I’ll be coming back to Shinya for my next cut, so I’ll make up the tip I felt he deserved last night the next time I come back. I felt like I could go to prom with the cut and a bit of curl he gave me. It was a $ 35 for my haircut and $ 30 for my bf’s minus 10% but we both tipped them $ 5/​each (though I wish I could have tipped more).
So thank you, Shinya and Kaori, for taking care of me and my bf and making us look good! :)

Calty Salon is an authentic Japanese hair salon. Haircut, shampoo, drinks, hot towel, and conditioner with scalp massage all come standard. This place usually requires an appointment and they have always been on time with me. The staff is extremely friendly and make you feel that they appreciate your patronage and business. They also have an excellent small lounge area with water, magazines and a Keurig brewer. I always leave 100% satisfied with my haircut.

I this place is more Japanese speaker friendly.
I only neeeded a trim and the cut was sufficient… nothing fancy. In LA proper, I would’ve paid $ 60 incl. tip, so $ 45 incl. tip was just right for me.

Since the dispute of a J pop magazine in Sept featuring Calty, you can’t get an appointment in less than a week.
Then I realized If the job is done in a rush, my lashes will be glued together and your real lash will fall out or you need to go back in a week. If she spends a loooog time on you, your lash will last 3 weeks with no incidence.
Seriously my neck, back of my head have bed sores in the end of such a long the session.
Last time I was here, I arrived at 1:15pm, when I was done, it was 10 mins after 4 pm. It was painful due to the spilled glue and she was using scissors to free my lower lash from the upper lash. It took 3 months to grow back.

They actually do real gel nails here — not powder set over acrylic nails.
On par with other nail art places I’ve been to. Great work, great service. My manicure has lasted 4 weeks now. I’m going to get them taken off and replaced with another design only because my nails have grown out quite a lot.

Don’t get your eyelash extensions or perms there! The girl I got it done from must be an amateur (who charges $ 90!?). I kept telling her the lashes were uneven but she wouldn’t listen. She did one eye perfectly, and once I agreed to add more after listening to her sales talk, she just did a mediocre job. But for her own lashes, she had them so nice and PURFECT. Guess she doesn’t give a shyte about other people who pay. The false lashes were poking my lashline until they all fell out in less than a week. Totally unsatisfactory!

Very nice people, good service, and reasonable prices! I love my new haircut and I definitely plan to return in the future.
