I always eat here with my pops during the week. Staff here is great, food could be a little better but what do you expect from a diner in Gardena. Never too busy and has plenty of booths to sit and chat with your close ones.

It’s been a life time since I have eaten at Carrow’s. Yesterday was the first time I have had a steak at Carrow’s. To start, it is always difficult to deal with a waiter at restaurants that are not known for steaks. They will either get frustrated and upset with you for asking what the different levels of pink they understand or they just don’t know. At first our waiter seemed to not appreciate my asking but then he came back with just about what I wanted. He explained that he understood what I was asking at the time but didn’t know how to explain to me that he wasn’t sure the cook would understand. As it turned out, the steak had a nicely cooked outside and a bit of pink in the middle the way I prefer but the quality of the steak was not that good. It was chewy, not hot and void of taste. My wife had the ribs and chicken. We both had garlic toast. I don’t know what happened to garlic toast lately but it was very salty and only toasted on one side. The vegetables were not fresh nor steamed in a way that is not chewy or melt in your mouth. My 9 year old daughter had French toast which she didn’t touch. The sodas were weak as well. Looking at the photos here on Unilocal of this place is very surprising. The food actually looks pretty good in those photos but not what we received at all. $ 40 later, we all felt quite a bit disappointed. I gave the waiter a $ 5 tip because of his personable attitude and for trying to have my steak cooked the way I requested. I just can’t help thinking about how much chicken I could have purchased at Popeye’s with $ 40 Maybe that is what I get for going to Mom’s BBQ on 120th and decided not to stand in the long line. Haven’t had their ribs yet but I wish I had yesterday.

Service was slow, customers who came in after me placed their orders prior to me. When my food arrived, there were more fingerprints on the plate than food. Toast was cold and burnt, potatoes were undercooked and swimming in oil. Replacement omelette came with an uncooked egg yolk O. O, toast had hash browns on it(didn’t order hash browns). Don’t know what prompted me to take all of the jam out of the caddy, but it was filthy. Have no clue how this place passes any inspection. Never again

This place is disgusting. I had the ribs with chicken and while cutting the ribs apart, the ribs had the date label inside the meat. That’s disgusting. I will never eat here again. Management took the plate immediately so I wouldn’t take a picture. Good look in ur meat if you eat here.

My friend likes late-night food runs and we’ve been to diners like Denny’s. Even lots of Carrow’s have closed and there’s way more Denny’s around, I have enjoyed Carrow’s even though I’ve only been to it in the past year since I didn’t grow up with it like my friend did. Anyhow, this place is alright. Our server was pretty good and gave good feedback on items we wanted to order. My friend had a french toast plate and enjoyed it. I wanted to try the ribs. It was alright and glad it was soft and came off the bone.

Carrows has been a place I have loved since before I was pregnant with my 1st born. Over the years I have always been able to get a decent meal, but even today their breakfast is usually pretty good, but the coffee is always perfect. Not too strong and not too weak. Its so good I usually finished 2 cups. Carrows also keep a their waitresses, cause to me I always see a familiar waitress. So I would recommend it for breakfast… oh and hot apple pie with Ice Cream it is delicious, especially the crust.

I was introduced to the Chinese Chicken Salad a few weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised as I’ve never been a Carrow’s fan. Since then, I’ve been back again for the same salad. It was just as good the second time. Now, here’s some room for improvement… but to be honest, I knew not to order the so called prime rib. One of my friends(who loves meat) wanted to try the prime rib special. This was the toughest meat I ever tried to bite — but my dogs enjoyed it. I think it helped sharpen their teeth. Although my all time favorite Chinese Chicken Salad is from Feast from the East in Westwood, whenever, I’m in the South Bay and want a good CCS, I know where to go.

The food was great but the service was dry! Our waitress was an older black lady. It seemed as if She didn’t have any intentions to «go out her way» to service us. What I mean by that is, she NEVER asked was everything alright with the food, did we need anything else, etc. When I asked her for jelly, she went to get the jelly and just sat it on the table and kept going!!! Normally, with the GREATSERVICE I experience from other waiter. They would ask DOYOUNEEDANYTHINGELSE! She seemed more friendly with other elderly people in there, I assumed they may have been regulars, I’m not sure. However, I expect the same service as everyone else! I should knock of 2 stars but the place in general is good

The worst waiter in history Name: Jesus M Not attentive, very rude, ask him question walks away with an attitude .I like going to carrows for the special but who wants to eat there when the waiter is such an ass and waiters should know by now if your rude believe me your ass is getting put on blast on Unilocal. The whole vibe durning the time I was there with my wife last night around 9 was negative even the dude that rung the check had no life in him. Who put people in charge to hire people that are not customer service friendly. I wish you can rate with no stars.

I ordered the eight ounce prime rib — which came with a lot of food for $ 11. Loaded baked potato, glazed baby carrots, and a hefty slice of cornbread. The prime rib was okay — I’ve had better, but it was pretty juicy, and pretty hearty as their smallest eight ounce. I couldn’t even finish it. The baby carrots were well seasoned and pretty tasty as far as carrots go. The loaded baked potato was heavy on the sour cream, butter, and chives, so no complaint there. Overall this place is on par with any regular chain restaurant — think Applebee’s or Ruby Tuesday’s. Good place to go if you want to eat lot for cheap.

I remember coming here as a little girl. I live up in the East Bay Area now. I’d say I’d been here at least two times a year. We came her around 1030 on a Friday. The dining area wasn’t full but it still was busy. My daughter and I got the strawberry Belgium waffle, my son got the kids pizza, my husband got the country breakfast and my mom got something also but I don’t remember what it was. My waffle was delicious with the whip cream and strawberries. My other family members enjoyed their food also. No complaints. Defiantly a good place to come for breakfast!!!

Gosh, haven’t been here in many, many years! Now I remember why!!! =( Slow or nonexistent service. It actually starts right when you walk through the front door. You’ll usually be ignored, or at least made to feel that you are invisible. After standing there long enough that you can’t be ignored any longer, they always ask if you are there to be seated. What the hell kind of question is that??? Of course you proceed to say«yes» since you aren’t there to watch the latest episode of The Simpsons from where you are standing. Once seated at the dirty, sticky table, you will probably be waiting quite a while to have your order taken(by the lethargic server). After that, your food comes eventually, and it’s usually getting cold since that same server took forever to pick it up from the kitchen after they finished cooking it. Need something more such as the silverware or napkin they forgot to put on the table in the first place? The missing condiments? Better to get up and get it yourself. When you do, you will get their attention and they will just look at you blankly and watch. All done? Need your check? Good luck. Probably have to head to the cash register and stand there. How long? Maybe for an eternity to get someone’s attention to tell them that you want to pay. Ok, now I remember why I haven’t been there in many, many years!

According to my boyfriend, this Carrows seems better than the ones he’s been too in San Pedro. The last one he went to did not give any sauce for the prime rib, but here, they did. We came for the two for $ 20, and I think this deal is great! Two starters(salad and/or soup), two entrees(tri-tip, prime rib, mac n cheese, chicken salad or lemon chicken) and a dessert(cobbler, slice of pie, or slice of chocolate cake or cheesecake). Of course we both opted for the prime rib! One medium rare and one medium well. I wanted the tri-tip but they only cook it one way – well-done. That sounded pretty dry and rubbery lol. The prime rib was perfect! I mean two steaks for $ 20, you cannot beat that. It was very tender and flavorful, and it came with the sauce. Also, their everyday soup is cream of broccoli but they have other soup each day such as Clam Chowder. For the dessert, they gave us a huge slice of chocolate cake but we took it to go and I do not know how it tastes like lol. Carrows also offer free wifi! Go and get the $ 20 deal!

I actually am a fan of Carrows. They are like Denny’s, only a touch better, USUALLY, in my mind because they serve Prime Rib, yes even a 16oz serving with 2 sides for under $ 20. Sadly, didn’t experience such a great time tonight. OK, so, my darling sissy was coming in from Boston for the Christmas holiday. Her flight was delayed. I already knew by the time she got here and with luggage to curbside that she was going to be beyond ravenous. She was. My darling life partner really wanted to eat elsewhere but peer pressure won out, and God bless him, he agreed to eat here so my sister and I could enjoy the really good Prime Rib. Now, mind you, I have walked into other Carrows and they’ve told us, «we’re out» of the Prime Rib. Or they fess up and tell us, true confessions, we only have well done and medium available. But instead, they took our order and didn’t tell us. I’d eaten baked potatoes earlier today, so I just didn’t want another nor mash taters when I’ll be having a ton of those on Christmas day. So, my main side was French Fried. Meh. Not even crispy and they were tepid. Still, I ate a few while I was waiting for my server to actually bring me a steak knife. I c ut into what was supposed to be a Medium slice of Prime Rib and it was as well done as over done pot roast can be. I sent it back. My sister’s Rare order was only medium, but she was so hungry, she was making do. Instead of ever telling us upfront, we don’t have that, instead, 10 mins later, they sent it back with a ladle of gravy on it. Well done. By now I have given up. Sent it all back. I have eaten a few of the tepid fries and some of the garlic cheese bread. Can I really return those? No, of course not. They tried charging me for them. They were so proud that they had«discounted» my order which they never gave me. I never even had a bite of the meat, returning it immediately. We had to remind them that I’d sent it all back immediately. Finally, they took it all off the bill. I never got nor would have accepted the second side I’d ordered. If you want their Prime Rib, be sure to really push them and ask, do you have XYZ the way you want it. My partner’s meatloaf was nice basic fare. Still gave our confused server a descent tip. I think he has never eaten prime rib or steak so he isn’t not familiar with the nuances of rare, medium, and well done.
