Got amazing deals here! Soooo many types of flowers in 3″ and 4″ pots for 70 cents and a dollar. I even got ferns in 1 gallon pots for just $ 3 each, the larger 5 gallons were only $ 8 ea. I also got a very special fern, the furry kind for $ 12 in a 5 gallon pot. That fern would have cost $ 35-$ 45 in another store, and I paid $ 44 for my whole cart full!!! I got such pretty plants to put all over my yard and I will be back for the great deals on ficus trees and groundcover mosses and clover, flats for $ 10 – 14 ea depending on which kind, several cool ones. I can’t believe I was shopping at the big chain home improvement stores and other nurseries around when this place was right there by the 405. I have passed it many times and never stopped by. I am going to tell everyone about this place now. You can’t even get plants from garage sales for these prices! Check or cash only though, just fyi!

Every year I buy Dahlias here and every year I am amazed by their beauty. I buy them for only $ 5 a pot when they are small with no blooms. A few months later they are blooming and gorgeous and selling other places for $ 15-$ 20. Very much a self-service place. No one will follow you around or help until it’s time to load your car. That’s the way I Iike to shop but if you like more assistance then this it’s not the place for you. Other than my Dahlias I haven’t purchsed other flowers here. They seem to have a limited selection. But if you love Dahlias…

If you’ve ever been to Kaneohe on Oahu, this nursery reminds me of a Kaneohe nursery: great plants and unbelievable prices. I recently purchased 130 boxwood hedges and primrose plants. The Japanese boxwood plants were a third of the price at large box stores. $ 2 per boxwood plant. An insane deal. I love deals! Herb and George are great. Even if they don’t have something in their nursery, they can source it for cheaper than Home Depot or Lowes. A wholesale nursery open to the public. I walked around the whole property and could not help but enjoy the aroma of fresh baked bread coming from Kings Hawaiian Bakery next door. For a moment, the smell of sweetbread while I was standing near some plumeria plants made me feel like I was back in Hawaii. This place is for die hard gardeners who know what they want and want to order from very polite people at hard to beat prices. Instead of spending money on aesthetics and marketing, the Okada brothers pass on their low cost to the consumers with these unheard of prices. As a weekend gardener, I love the delivery service provided, though we are two cities away. The delivery charge was nominal. Very convenient and I didn’t have to load and unload the army of plants. For people who don’t own trucks and don’t want to get their car dirty, this place is so convenient! Thank you!

Great little nursery and so economical! Beautiful flowers for very reasonable rates. It isn’t fancy but if you are looking to add something to your garden this is the place to go!

Decent place… not too large an area to roam around. More of a small scale old school Japanese nursery. If you drive up and down Western Ave in Gardena, you’ve most likely passed this place many times. You’ll find it on the west side of the street between the 405 and the Kings Hawaiian facility. On a plus note, you can smell that killer bread baking. mmm

Its easy to overlook this hidden gem since its right beside the King’s Hawaiian factory bakery. I pass by this nursery every time I visit the Local Place. I love gardening and visiting nurseries, but the their display bedding plants that you can view from the street aren’t eye catching. The place looks run down and lacks a certain aesthetic appeal. I finally decided to give this nursery a try and was pleasantly surprised. They have a limited variety of plants but what they focus on is bedding plants that are even lower than Home Depot. If you are a true gardener and can see the future potential of plants that you buy, then this place is worth a look. I ended up purchasing a flat of pink candy tufts for only $ 7.58 They had other flowering plants and grasses that caught my attention, but I already had most of those species in my garden. I do plan to visit again when some of the plants start flowering for spring and summer. The place is run by two senior Japanese men. I’m guessing they are brothers. They also have a friendly black Labrador that roams the nursery. Parking is easy but its on a dirt and gravel road within the property.
