This is a good place to come eat some Salvadorian food. They have lots of plates to choose from you won’t be disappointed. The service is great they are quick and helpful.

the problem with every salvadorean place is customer service, in this case the food is not so much the problem(but some dishes new major improvement) to go there and put up with some ladies attitude? they are there To Serve You, emphasis on the word SERVE. but, instead we get long faces, forgotten orders, mix ups, I have to say some of the younger waitresses are nicer than the older ones but they are not even close to what customer service is all about. may I suggest management to invest in getting them some training? #1 Get out of the way when a customer walks in, not the other way around(except if you are handling food) #2 apologize if service is taking longer than expected #3 ask if the order is correct and if they need anything else #4 check up on customer, refills? #5 smiles won’t give you wrinkles, they might increase your tips #6 don’t you ever, EVER hand the food plate to the customer, put the damn plate on the table, this is a restaurant after all. service needs to improve or customers will have no choice but to pick from a little list of 3000 salvadorean restaurants in LA. you are not the only choice Mr Nuevo San Miguel.

Summary: This place used to be delicious, but now they don’t care about the quality of their food. DONOTEATHERE. My family and I have been long term customers of this«restaurant» for years, ever since before their renovation. The quality of the food has become WORSE and WORSE every time we visit. this review is not about a recent encounter, it’s about various horrible encounters over time. This place used to be good. It was so good. The food was delicious and the prices were cheap. Now its more expensive and the quality of the food… well there is NO quality anymore. my family and i gave them a chance over and over again, because we want to support our local businesses. The last time i went, i asked for an horchata and two pupusas de queso y frijol. Those pupusas had the THINNEST layer of cheese imaginable, and a small corner of each pupusa had some beans. The horchata did NOT taste like horchata at all. It tasted slightly sour and it looked spoiled. I did not drink it. Now with my other family members, each one has their own story to tell. My father went recently and wanted to order a mojarra. he was told that they didn’t have any ready and it would be a 20 – 30 minute wait. He decided he didn’t want to wait so he ordered a caldo de pollo, with chicken breast specifically. he commented that he liked how this restaurant would always give him the caldo with the rice and chicken on the side. He gets his caldo but this time it has the rice and chicken inside. He’s okay with it and is about to eat when he notices a bone sticking out. he pulls out the bone to find the saddest excuse of a chicken breast. that sh*t was more bones than meat! He talked to the waiter to complain that they gave him the leftovers and they tried to tell him that it was normal sized chicken. they even went as far as to bring him some raw chicken breasts to show him that they all look alike. they DID look alike, they were all bones with little meat! My dad refuses to eat it and so NOW they offer him a mojarra. He accepts. 5 minutes later, they bring him a mojarra that earlier would have taken 20 – 30 minutes to cook… my dad ended up with diarrhea that night. i could go on and on about the different stories about this place, but these were the ones that made us decide to never step foot in here again. this sorry excuse for a «pupusería» cuts corners when it comes to their food. their pupusas are terrible, the pan con pollo just didn’t have the right taste, their shuco has been over-salted, and they no longer give you corn grains to put into your atol de elote. They have lost what used to make them good. They seem to care more about looking like a «chic» and«upscale» restaurant with big TVs and iPads than their food. They will continue to lose long-term customers like us, and they will not be able to retain new customers if they continue to serve their«food.»

I came here at 12:50 and got my food at 2:10 that is ridiculous !! I was with a party of 4, ordered two pupusas, one mojarra frita, sopa de res and platanos… they brought the pupusas first and then it took 40 mins for the rest of the food to come, I don’t understand why this took so damn long, they didn’t even bring all of our drinks, they forgot an horchata and a water, I saw a group of five men get there after us and they still got their food before us. I have a baby too so you can just imagine how impatient she was. The bathrooms are TINY, there’s not even a changing table, the soap was LITERALLY A WHOLEJUG! So the pupusas were pretty good and so was their sauce, but the sopa de res was plain, the meat was very fatty, the soup broth just tasted like zucchini, like seriously, I expected something amazing since the wait time was so long, the mojarra was crunchy and good but certainly nothing special. Jesus Christ the rice was horrible, it was inedible, literally inedible… It was beyond salty, like seriously how do you mess up rice that bad ?? The waitresses never apologized for the wait or reassured us when the food would be out, to be honest the only reason this has 2 stars is because the manager was empathetic about it enough to give us a discount on the food, I hope they use this review to improve their restaurant because there is a lot of improvements that should be done asap. I really wanted to like this place, I really did.

I give this place 4 ‘s for food first time my family and I tried it, however one thing I completely did not like was the restroom area as a female with a little girl I did not like passing by male restroom and at plain sight to see a man standing at the urinal doing his thing another thing stalls are super tight hardly any room for a mother and her child. Other then that place is nice in appearance minus restrooms and food is great

The only thing I would order here is the Pupusas, everything else is alright nothing amazing. I do have to say that the service kind of sucks. I have dined in multiple times and have received my food luke warm, the amount they take to get serve it to you, you would think your food would come out hot! I would definitely call ahead and order for take away.

So we sat down order our drinks,(two horchatas) which are not good at all. We return them to get waters, and they told us they still gonna charge us for two drinks that we only tasted, a sip. Go to pay and tried to make me pay, and to consider I work at a restaurant, what happened to the costumer is right. With bad service also. And they were trying to make me pay it anyways. I’m like I’m not paying. So I didn’t.

I actually like this spot. Not the best pupusas I’ve tried but they were good. They were not greasy. They had a good amount of «stuffing» the prices were reasonable and the customer service was good. I definitely visit this place every one in a while.

One of my favorite Salvy restaurants to dine in or order take-out. I love everything about this place specially the breakfasts, shrimp soup, pupusas and empanadas. my family and I eat here often because of their great quick service, clean establishment, delicious food and affordable prices. I would give them 10 stars if I could. Uno de los restaurantes salvadoreños de mi preferencia por la comida tan deliciosa y excelente servicio, les daría 10 estrellas si pudiera :)

They are very rude and when you need a manager or someone in charge to talk to there is nobody around. When someone who was in charge came they said I had to go to him he couldn’t come and talk to me which is bad costumer service.

I really don’t understand why this establishment is so poorly rated. This restaurant is phenomenal. A good friend of mine grew up in Gardena and apparently made it a ritual to ONLY eat pupusas at this restaurant. Since meeting this friend, all he talks about are the pupusas from his hood and how amazing they are. Surprisingly, we were in the area. So, I had to see what the fuss was all about. It was raining this particular day. My friend and I ran inside San Miguel in hopes to stay dry. We were greeted by the owner and staff; moreover, we were seated promptly. Our order was taken quickly as well. A quick glance at the menu was more than enough. I was a man on a mission and I already had an idea of what I wanted. I was hoping the dishes would taste just as good as they looked on the menu. It was my first time eating at a Salvadorian restaurant and I didn’t know what to expect. Once our orders arrived, to my surprise, the dishes were portrayed accurately on the menu. I wasn’t disappointed with my choice. The dish looked just as good as it did on the picture. As a matter of fact, I was shocked, my dish was huge(I ordered El Migueleño). On my plate I found an array of salvadorian delicacies: PLATANO, PUPUSA, and CASAMIENTO. I devoured my plate almost as if through osmosis. The food was brought out piping hot. The servers were very attentive and the owner was even helping out on the floor. I’m not surprised the restaurant was full on a rainy day like today. Looks like he cares about his clientele, employees and business. A place like this should be worth waiting in line for. Stop complaining. It gets busy on the weekends, but that’s a good sign. WOULDYOUREALLYEATTHEREIFITWASEMPTY? *FOODFORTHOUGHT*

I’ve been living pretty close to this place since it opened. Literally walking distance. I have only been to this place about 4 times. I will be honest and say some of their food is good, but the costumer service is absolutely ridiculous. On every single one of my visits, there’s always an employee with a bad attitude. On my last visit, i stood in front of the pickup line for about 20 minutes and saw waitress after waitress walk right in front of me and never bothered to even recognize i was there. Thus the reason why I’m so hesitant to come to this place. I’m in the hotel business and I will say I would never recommend this place to any of my guests. Such a disappointment to say the least. Management should put more effort and get rid of a couple employees. After all, no matter how good your food is, if you don’t treat your customers right, you lose business.

Food is almost always good key world almost! They have good days and bad I guess depending on what you order. Beans are way to watery. Pastelitos de carne were not good. Pupusas were good. Reason they get one star is due to the lack of customer service. Sooooo many waiters and no service I had to get up and go tell them they forgot an item we ordered. Sad thing I wasn’t the only one who had to go hunt down someone. Won’t be coming back ok food or even amazing food doesn’t out weigh service. The remodel unfortunately did not improve the service.

Surprisingly dissatisfied. The pupusas looked fresh and soft but when tried them I really disliked the flavor. The chicharron and frijol had too much spices to my liking. The quezo and chicharron was mainly melted cheese which tasted funny. The tomato sauce was plain and flavorless. I couldn’t get myself to finish a whole pupusa which is weird just saying it. I will not eat there again!

Delicious food… usually the service is great. Family oriented. Today I ordered to go breakfast: casamiento, eggs, steak, cream. Unfortunately, the steak was left out. I realized it until I was home and ready to eat.

Good food, quick service. I had the chile relleno, which was very good. It was filled with meat and veggies, which surprised me, since every other relleno I’ve had in the past was full of cheese. We ordered a variety of items for the table to sample. The pupusas were the best thing I had here. Great flavor and texture. Te only thing I did not care for was the tamale. The masa was too mushy for my liking. Great place overall, and you could make a solid, cheap meal out of the pupusas alone.

Nuestra visión es lograr que en el 2015 en la ciudad de Gardena y Los Angeles el lugar de eventos y el restaurante Salvadoreño sea reconocido como un restaurant familiar, y de buen ambiente.

I wanted pupas, so I Unilocaled it. This place is kind of in the cut. Very clean and neat. Waitress were very attentive. The food was very delish and we’ll prepared. I got a loroco pupas and the fried fish. The fish was stuffed with herbs, a very nice touch. The pupas was nice and the slaw on the side was good. This is a good place for families too. I noticed alot of familia was there. Reasonable priced too.

Pupusas and I are deeply connected. I mean, so deep that they have attached themselves to my thighs, but I don’t care. I will not part with them. In any case, body bashing aside, I am always on the lookout for a good Pupuseria. This place is pretty good and probably my second favorite in the area. Their servings are great. They recently renovated this place and it’s actually really large now and pretty decent looking… Inside. Outside, you’d never think to stop here let alone eat here. Their tamales de elote are yum. I mean, it’s typical Salvi food. They do it well. Their curtido is good. The service, however, sucks. Don’t expect to be looked after and if you want something, don’t bother waiting and just go up to the counter and ask. They’re pretty busy most of the time with in house and take out orders. I love that they’re open later on weekends. A great place for take-out if you live nearby. If you’ve never had Salvi food before, definitely try their pupusas(I usually get plain ol’ queso, but if you don’t mind pork, you should try the revuelta) and make sure you put curtido(the fermented cabbage stuff) and salsa on those bad boys or you’re missing out. Order an Horchata to drink. Really yummy stuff. In summation: Great food. Crappy Service. Ambiance is non-existent. Order take-out if you can.
