Yum. You can see them making the fresh tortillas while you wait for your food! Chicken taco was the best!

My co workers and I decided to have some tacos on a warm sunny day in LA and we thought hmmm… But where? So I asked one of my co workers to Unilocal a place because I was being lazy. So he found this place and we went. Chicken taco– was the business. Tortillas are hand made, soft and the chicken was really good Pastor taco– was ok. So it was really good that I went back 1 week later. But this time. Uh oh. Asada taco– too much fat Enchiladas chicken– I guess the chicken taste good in tacos. It was pretty bland right along with the beans. The 4 stars are only for the tacos and friendly customer service. AAANNNDD they only accept cash.

Best chicken tacos I have ever eaten. If you dislike this place you simply don’t understand the taste of true, authentic Mexican food. Everything from this restaurant and cooked by Johhny is gold hands down. Try everything in the menu, but I recommend coming for their fresh tortillas and chicken tacos.

Really disappointed. Ordered a carne asada burrito, meat was already cooked before I walked in. They throw it into the grill when I order it and char it because it’s already cooked and is no over cooking. Rice is such a light orange color that you can tell they skimp on the tomato sauce. Wish it was better. Seemed like a nice place.

Pretty good burrito– I had the al pastor. The tortilla was amazing(they make their own), but the meat had something crunchy in it??? Maybe just cooked a little too long. In Southern California, fantastic Mexican food is usually just around the corner. In this case it was decent, but I’ll probably try one of the others before going back.

I really wanted this place to be good but sadly it did not live up to the Unilocal reviews. Location: In a small strip mall with small parking Restaurant: Large and appeared clean Overall: Food was bland. We ordered tacos and ceviche and we were sadly disappointed. I’ll stick with Ricos Tacos down the street.

If u dont mind waiting 30 minutes for ur food after u order it … food is great. La comida esta muy sabrosa… 3 estrellas porque tardan demasiado en traer la comida.30 minutos para un burrito mojado y no habia mucha gente.

Tasty, authentic, and cheap. What more can you ask for? Tacos La Perla gets 5-stars alone for making all of their tortillas in plain view as you order. As for the food, I really love their wet burritos… I highly recommend. I’ve also had their chimichanga(good) and hard shell tacos(good, but small). The only disadvantage would have to be the parking. Other than that, no complaints.

Tacos are delish. Extra star for their home made tortillas. If a place is taking the time to make fresh tortillas, makes me think their whole menu is worth a sample.

Totally hidden gem. In the corner of a little strip mall. The decent sized tacos are $ 1.29 each in homemade tortillas pressed and cooked on the spot. The meats are tasty and not overly seasoned. Overall a quality spot.

Very good tacos with hand made tortillas and very good salsa. The service was great, my order was exact. I am definitely coming back to try other things! Oh, The only thing is this place is hard to see; it sits in the corner of a small plaza I almost missed this place.

So far the food I’ve tried has been good. Love that they make the tortillas after I order so they’re very fresh. Had the sopes, tacos and mulitas and my family and I were satisfied. Will be going back to try the tortas as well.

Great little local spot for Mexican food. The restaurant is very clean and the staff is friendly. I had an asada torta and a Mexican Coke. It was very good. The restaurant reminds me of Tacomiendo on the Westside. They make their own tortillas and masa here too.

Tacos are made with handmade tortillas!!! Yes please! They had me at handmade! The different meats of the tacos I ordered were excellent. The lengua was tender and not bland like other places. That is all! LOL

Nick discovered La Perla in Gardena when he asked some locals if they knew of a good place to eat. They told him La Perla was the only place they ate besides their own homes. Recommendations don’t get much better than that. Nick and Carlos told me this was the best Mexican restaurant they know of and after eating there I can’t argue with them. It’s Mexican food for Mexican people. I asked for guacamole and chips and was told they don’t have guacamole. My burrito was wrapped in a flour tortilla made seconds before it was filled. The inside was carnitas, beans, rice, and salsa. Everything about it was perfect. It’s amazing how much of a difference a fresh flour tortilla makes. They are not supposed to be thick and white like the ones you get a taco bell. They should be thin and almost transparent. On the weekends you can order barbecue ribs. Seemed like an odd menu item so I tried one. The barbecue sauce squirted on top kind of skeeved me out because of how closely it resembled ketchup. The meat itself was too fatty. Stick to the burrito. Next my eyes got to big for my stomach and I ordered a fish taco. The fish taco at La Perla comes with a full filet of fish. It could have been served as a fish in chips entrée in a pub. Fish tacos don’t really get me going. As we discussed that day, fish tacos should only be eaten while you are looking at the ocean after a long day at the beach. A strip mall in Gardena is not the right setting. Nothing I have had in Los Angeles has come close in terms of mastering the right flavor, balance of ingredients, and freshness as La Perla. If you find yourself in Gardena you must go there and it’s worth the drive if you are 30 – 45 minutes away.
