Dairy Queen of Gardendale

If I could give less than one star I would. Stopped in at 3:00pm for small vanilla cone. No line. After about 7 – 10 minutes we were told they were out of ice cream and we’d have to wait for them to refill the soft serve machine and THEN wait for it to freeze. ARE YOU SERIOUS, DQ? Got refund and left.

I’ve stopped here a couple of times for lunch.
Have been able to order quickly and food received promptly.
Food is average, maybe slightly better than some other chains.
This location is clean and not cluttered.

I just pulled out of the drive-​thru, got back on the interstate and realized they didn’t give me my drinks and upon further inspection, I’m missing a side of toast from my bag as well. It wouldn’t be a big deal if I could turn around and go back, but as I’m on a tight schedule as would anyone else be that goes through the drive-​through, I am unable to do so; therefore I have lost the money that I paid for those things and my husband and I will be thirsty while we r eating our dinner on the go… Food was hot (what wasn’t missing) and drive-​thru worker was pleasant but they need a better quality control system in place. I’ll call the manager to attempt to rectify the situation and update my review if possible.

This place is hit or miss. The last three times we’ve stopped by was a miss.
DQ’s food is OK, nothing really spectacular. My hubby usually likes to stop on a Saturday night after we’ve been out all day and had dinner just to get some ice cream.
Recently we stopped by and all he wanted was a vanilla waffle cone. They had no waffle cones.
The very next Saturday we stopped by and I placed an order for a vanilla waffle cone and a blizzard. They had no ice cream. What the heck? Apparently BOTH of their ice cream machines were frozen.
And the next week we stopped in. They had ice cream AND waffle cones this time! But I ordered a Double Fudge Cookie Dough Blizzard. The cookie dough bites tasted freezer burned. I had to pick them all out. Thank goodness it was a mini!

Food was okay… Chicken was all right. I got the mint chip shake and, to me, it’s not nearly as good as McDonald’s Shamrock Shake which I love: the DQ version didn’t have much mint flavor. The girl who took our order (drive-​thru) was not friendly or helpful. We were asking for some clarification about shake flavors and she ran down the list at warp-​speed. So we said do you mind saying those again. She did. But even faster. If we didn’t get them the first run-​down, shouldn’t you say them a little slower, separating the flavors a little? Ugh! These people KNOW the menu. We, the customers, do not. They act like we should though… We’re stupid for not having memorized their menu? This DQ worker seemed to think so.

There is a new Dairy Queen in Gardendale. It is on Fieldstown Rd next to Chick Fil A. It’s a good one. Fast service good food.

No longer a dairy queen. The name has changed but the food is the same.
Of all the DQ’s out there the burgers here aren’t so good. The ice cream is always great.
