Peter(Owner) and Kelli(Trainer) are just great. I started with them 6 months ago, having had little relief from medications and surgery for spinal stenosis and arthritis(I’m in my 70’s). I attend for 1 ½ hrs 3X a week. With their careful guidance I’m now Squatting 40 kilos, Pressing 25K, Bench Pressing 35K and Deadlifting 50K and adding more weight each week. I still have lots of pain but I’m 100% more mobile than I used to be. Peter and Kelli are observant and professional and frequently give encouragement and advice.

This is my gym. I like this gym. It has made me stronger and changed me for the better. People come and go, and the dedicated improve. Come be dedicated, show up and try. Then you change for the better and become stronger. The gym only provides the instruction, the direction, and equipment.

This is a gym that produces results. If you are serious about improving your level of fitness and getting stronger, then this is the place to go. I have been to many of the gyms in the New Platz/Kingston area and most of them put more effort into calculating your dues than calculating your workout. These people actually study the science behind physical exercise. Expect to be challenged mentally and physically, and to improve. Don’t expect to have your hand held and hovered over. You need to listen, watch, and actually try to get better at the techniques you will need to learn. They will teach you all you need to know, and will watch over you to make sure you are doing it safely. I’ve found this is the only place where if you do what they tell you, you will get stronger and more fit. I could go on and on about how effective this gym is, and how much thought is put into YOUR workout and improvement. It is leagues ahead of every other gym in the area.

I liked the workouts, most of the trainers were very polite and helpful. Unfortunately, the trainer that I usually had was more interested in his ipad and iphone than in helping novices like myself. I would go to him, asking for help with a workout and he would ask me to hold on(lifting one finger while keeping his eyes glued to his Electronic Device of the Day), and only after I had waited for while would he deign to address me. He also loves to chat with the usual group of regulars(who were very nice and welcoming). Oftentimes I would approach this particular ipad/iphone-addicted trainer, and he would just IGNORE me while continuing to chat with a group of people(chat, not train). Today I asked him for help with an exercise, and he asked me to wait, since he was helping someone else(there were FOUR people in the entire place, including me). I understood, I had no problem with waiting. After he was done helping a young woman, he turned his back to me, addressing the other two people in this facility and started talking(gossiping really), suddenly oblivious to the fact that I was there waiting for him. I waited. And waited. And waited some more, until I decided that I’ve had it with being ignored while he gossiped with two women about a certain«Mary». I am a middle-aged, level-headed professional, mother of three. I am not a diva and I do not seek attention at all. Perhaps the fact that I am a member of a minority group(the only one that I saw there at any time) was a factor in this trainer’s behavior? I do not know. The scarce attendance can probably be attributed to this man’s behavior. * * * EditDelete
