With the proliferation and over saturation of big box hardware stores, the local family owned hardware store has taken a real beating. Finding one is getting more and more difficult. The L. was in need of a particular piece of man-chinery as I call it and after doing some internet perusing, found what he needed at Majestic’s Hardware. We took a lovely fall drive into the country in search of this must have item. We walked into a classic hardware shop. Of course it cannot compete with the corporate giants but there is a sense of historicity and of doing something good by shopping at a Mom and Pop place. Old hardware stores also seem to share a particular fragrance that is both intoxicating and yet somewhat repugnant. ;))) We were quickly and kindly attended to and the item we had sought out was brought out for us and loaded into the man-truck lickety split. On my way out to their backyard I noticed a really cool piece of machinery. I think it was a pipe cutter but it was vintage and had so much character and was made in the USA. They don’t make them like that anymore… :(((It was fun to photograph. We were very pleased with our purchasing experience. We hope they will be around for a long time to come. This song just reminds me totally of high school… lolz.
