Pretty sweet digs for a rest stop if you ask me! I live in Portland but take the trek up north to Millinocket on a fairly regular basis, having to stop here for coffee or a bathroom break is not too shabby. The service plaza is right where I-95 and I-295 meet(I-95 Exit 102 Northbound, Exit 103 Southbound, I-295 Exit 51). There are tons of signs, you can’t miss it. The inside is basically a food court set-up with an awesome moose statue in the middle. Did I mention the huge moose statue outside as well? There is a Starbucks(open 6am-8pm), a Quiznos(open 11am-8pm), a Burger King(open 24 hours), a Z-market(open 6am-8pm), and a Hershey’s Ice Cream Place(open seasonally in the summer). There are a ton of bathrooms which have been clean every time I’ve had to use them. My advice: if you need to make a pit stop, stop here! Do not wait for the next one.

Super big service plaza where I 95 and i 295 meet north of Portland. Clean and well maintained. Currently they are installing a traffic circle at the entrance-not sure why– so read the signs carefully.

I travel a lot and rest stops are not something I look forward too visiting but many times they are a must. This rest stop is by far the nicest and cleanest I have ever used. The parking lot spaces are abundant, there are several places to grab something to eat or snacks and the bathrooms are meticulously cleaned and well stocked. Plenty of stalls as well so usually regardless of how busy they are there is little to no wait at all. An added bonus is the Maine craft store which has absolutely beautiful work from local artisans. Needless to say the prices are higher than you would normally pay but the stuff is gorgeous. So this is a place when Mother Nature calls, hunger or thirst takes over and a crafters delight. Wow how many rest areas can boast all of that. If you think you can make it to the next«pit stop» you may want to think twice and stop here.
