I’ve been here once, it’s your basic diner. Kind of a dive but the service is good. They could go a long way if they cleaned up a bit, got rid of some cheap deco, and painted. The bathrooms are incredibly small and within 3 feet of a table so that was awkward.

I was forced to go here because the Hen House in Gardner was closed and let me just start by saying I will never go back. The food isn’t the greatest as you could tell my soup was microwaved and everything lacked flavor. If you’re in the area I would highly suggest going to the Hen House instead, the food there is great and is cheaper than eating at the Blue Moon diner!

What happened to this diner?! I used to love the food here, so much so that it was a «must go» whenever I was back in the area after moving away. The staff was fun, energetic, attentive, and the food was amazing! The cooks and waitresses would dance and sing the songs on the jukebox-it was incredible! However, the last few years have seen a decline. There’s no more energy, the staff are rude, and the food is laughable. Every time I get food(whether pick up or sit down), they mess it up! They forget something completely, and still charge, or just simply make a mistake(like giving cheese sauce instead of hollandaise). If you ask them to correct the mistake, they say nothing, offer no apology, and seem annoyed that you’ve asked them to correct the order you’re paying for and they messed up. And the food in general is not as good as it once was. The home fries are bland, the quality has gone down, and everything seems flavorless and undercooked. It’s such a shame. I’m visiting family in the area this weekend and today we have experienced our last breakfast/meal at the Blue Moon Diner. We ordered pick up and the order was messed up again. My sandwich was sloppily thrown into a container(to the point I couldn’t eat it with my hands and it looked more like an omelette with a bagel thrown in) and I was once again given cheese sauce instead of hollandaise. I beg you to find the spirit you once had and bring it back into your food and atmosphere.

Stopped in for lunch. Had hot dogs and burgers, nothing spectacular, but cooked well. The waitresses were very attentive and pleasant. I must say that breakfast looked very good.

Would not go back. Small portions, hard under cooked home fries, hash was raw when asked for well done, french toast was very small and over cooked. Service was par.

This place is eggcellent! I’m from NJ, so I know my diners. Blue Moon has the best diner coffee. Ever. I feel like calling it ‘diner coffee’ is almost an insult. The breakfast plate I had was incredible. My fiancé’s omelet was okay, but it seemed the hash browns made up for it. The service was GREAT! It’s got such a neighborly vibe! I hope we make it back to this place!

When it comes to small wallflower like diners you normally wouldn’t notice… This one is excellent. From the French toast to the eggs this place will cook your food right. Friendly and quick is the nature of the staff. My only complaint would be the parking… and memories of eating there with my ex haha

Terrible service and a staple in the eggs. My husband was served a broken up pancake that was also burnt and should have been thrown away. I would have been very embarrassed to even consider showing it to a customer let alone serving him. Toast was to come with the eggs but when asked for it, we noticed that when the bill came we were charged for it. Abominable service in a dirty place.

Nostalgic! Fast, clean, welcoming with good service. In search of the Great American breakfast, Blue Moon would rank three out of five stars as a classic diner. It’s located in a historical downtown with potential but in dire need of a facelift, but don’t let need for renovation scare you off from a good meal at Blue Moon Diner.

Cool place service was very fast and the food was tasty. The homefries were the only thing that could have been better

Just ate there today. As good as it gets for traditional Diner food. Great homemade Corned Beef hash and my favorite type of home fries. Good coffee topped off a good price of $ 20 for 2. Im going back. Good service, too.

I had the fish and chips with cole slaw, and loved it. I would have assumed to expect a by-the-letter approach to basic simple americana food. What a pleasant surprise. I think I liked best the very same character trait that their one bad review was turned off by: creative originality. Two words not ordinarily associated with«diner food». I couldn’t help but notice little things — small flourishes of «creative license» if you will. Where many diners go for rich/heavy flavors, these were light and herby. You’d find little unexpected notes just faint enough that you weren’t quite sure…“was that marjoram”…“wait was that cinnamon”. The end effect was a cole slaw that tasted sweet, without tasting sweetened, but not so under seasoned as to seem just plain and raw. Balance. A potato salad so light as to remind you of an artful use of cauliflower(no, I assure you the potato tasted like potato: I’m trying to accurately convey just how light it was). Definitely not the bland heavy mayonnaisy mouthful I expected. The fish was fresh, decent and simple. I didn’t notice anything super unusual about the treatment of the fish(haddock, btw). That’s not bad for contrast, though, like a simple E major chord after a progression of progressive chords. Cleans the palate!

Hungry? Go here. Like the diner atmosphere? Go here. Wanna get a great breakfast for a great price? It’s all inside. Sunday morning, after a nice, leisurely. scenic ride, we pulled in around 8 a.m.for a bite or two. I rode here with a friend of mine and wanted to share the“dinah“experience with took awhile to choose our meals ’cause their menu is extensive. I had the hash of course and he had an omelet of some sort. Our food arrived quickly and looked and tasted great. The coffee and the service was outstanding. Great bang for the buck here and just a good place for a good meal. We’ll be back…

Maybe this goes without saying but the thing to get at Blue Moon is the breakfast. Each time we’ve been, my partner has gotten breakfast and I’ve gotten lunch. Every time I have food envy. Hers is always great and mine never seems to be all that good. So stick with breakfast and expect the not so friendly diner service and you’ll be all set.

Neato old-school diner with lots of opportunities for people-watching that you won’t want to miss. Food was average, but worth coming in for. When they recommend peppers and onions with your homefries, say yes.

Very pleased with our experience at the Blue Moon. It’s like a little oasis in the middle of Gardner — a well-preserved luncheon car hearkening back to a bygone era in which a decent breakfast was the best, most important meal of the day. The table service was courteous(especially as we waffled back and forth between a seat in back and a seat in front) and the food was fresh and delicious. For some reason I opted for the«original»(canned) corned beef hash over the«homemade,» but was not displeased. The rock n’ roll theme is a little precious but doesn’t overwhelm or push the place into cheesiness. Only complaint: the table-side jukeboxes work, but we couldn’t hear our selection(Patsy Cline’s «Walkin’ After Midnight») over the din.

I had heard that they had recently been remodeled, or under new management, so I was pretty worried going there for breakfast last weekend. I should not have been worried. It hasn’t changed. This is a good thing! One thing I noticed — all women working here! Just something I saw — no need to panic, kids! I got the sausage gravy and biscuits and some scrambled eggs on the side. It was great! Just what the doctor ordered. Sure, it feels a little grimy in here, and I had to kill a fly with the menu so I could keep eating without being grossed out, but hey — this is a Diner and this is America so deal with it!
