After a recent breakup I found myself living back in apartment, and without my own washer and dry(thanks to my ex for keeping mine). My apartment complex does offer an onsite facility, but it sucks. There are like maybe 5 washers, and five dryers. All of the dryers suck and it usually takes two cycles to dry my clothes, and $ 1.50 a load, that adds up. Bam is about a block from my apartment, and honestly I have never been to a public laundromat. I had been thinking about coming here for a few weeks after dealing with my complexes facility too many times. Inside and outside, things are clean, and well lit. I didn’t notice anyone working at the laundromat, so I can’t speak for the service. They have tons of washers and dryers, from the giant ones usually reserved for hotels, to average and even small units. The largest unit holds something like 10 loads of laundry. It costs three bucks a load to run, but how else are you gonna do that many loads that fast. I managed to fit two full sets of bedding and a hamper full of clothes with no issue. There is a slightly smaller unit that runs about $ 2/load it’s pretty big and I think it’s capable of handling like 6 – 8 loads of laundry. I fit two sheets, a bath towel, several hand towels and wash clothes, along with two changes of my work uniform, two weeks worth of socks and unmentionables into the machine and it probably could have handled two to three times as much. There are machines that run about a buck to a buck and quarter that handle a typical size load of laundry, and very small ones for 75 cents that I guess are meant for doing whites and such. The dryers here are super efficient, they run on 8 minute intervals, with each 8 minutes being 25 cents. I thought it seemed high, until I realized how fast their dryers got my clothes done. It took my small load about 15 minutes to dry on medium. The larger load took about 30 minutes, but it was still far far cheaper and less time consuming than the onsite at my complex. The washers work really well and got my clothes very clean, even a white shirt that I had gotten pink hair dye all over came out almost spotless. The only downfall to this place is the fact that there is no staff to enforce the clearly posted rules, and there were a group of kids running around, riding a big wheel inside, climbing on the folding tables, and eventually running around with a laundry cart, which I just happened to get rammed with. Despite that I think I have found my new place to to laundry.
