Not very authentic. I ordered machaca con huevos. Machaca is usually a shredded beef/carne seca mixed with scrambled eggs and onions and maybe some Tortilla strips. This had chopped steak instead I’m f shredded beef and the eggs looked like they were sitting under a heat lamp. I ate one bite and moved the plate to the side and ate chips instead. The server never bothered to ask me what was wrong.

I’m always satisfied when I come. Is it the best Mexican food I’ve ever had? No. Is it your best option if you live in Garland? Yep. I have been several times for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each time I was pleased. The salsa is great and I love the flavor of the refried beans. Service is pretty quick and the food is always piping hot.

This was my first time to eat in downtown Garland. But I was in the area and met a friend for lunch on a quiet Monday. We had planned to eat at another restaurant but decided that, on this chilly day, we’d have Mexican. Sorry. Anyway, boy was I pleasantly surprised. The lunch menu was quite extensive and varied. I had the three enchilada plate — one each of sour cream chicken, avocado and spinach. Very tasty. Retried beans had good flavor and the rice was better than it needed to be. Big olé iced tea glasses and I only needed one refill. Our waitress was cheerful and Johnny on the spot. Chips and salsa were above average. One minor downside is parking. Street parking is pretty tight. I ended up parking a block or so away. A small sacrifice for such such a good meal at a very reasonable price. Will I be back? Of course?

This is our go-to, no-fail favorite. Consistently great food and good service. From excellent frozen margaritas to killer poblano and cilantro sauces, this place is a winner for us, every time. We’re moving much farther away and plan to make the drive to come back here regularly.

Did not even get the chance to try the food. Walked in and stood by the hostess stand for around 10 minutes on a quiet Monday evening, no signs to indicate if you had to seat yourself or otherwise. Waited while at least 4 members of staff ignored us so we left. How rude.

Dos Banderas is one of my favorite places to eat in all of Garland. It’s never let me down. It’s the perfect place to go if you want to have a nice conversation and relax with friends or family over a good meal. Their large, bright, and open dining room has a great atmosphere. The waitstaff is usually very friendly and attentive. I’ve never had a bad meal here. And I can’t forget to mention the chips and salsa, which are some of the best I’ve had. Surprisingly, my favorite thing about this place is breakfast. The prices on the breakfast menu can’t be beat. And the coffee is always just right. For me, it’s the perfect start to any day.

This place is very reasonable and very tasty. In fact, I tried the chicken enchiladas with tomatillo sauce — best enchilada I’ve had in a long time. Tasty heat! Ask for Greg. He is an EXCELLENT server

Ugh! Horrific service and God-awful food! Queso tasted like something out of a Campbell’s soup can. Taco dinner was bland and fajita chicken nachos were clearly heated under a broiler as I almost burned by hand on the plate and the chips were close to burned. There are plenty of great Tex-Mex restaurants in and around Garland where our money would be better well spent! I suggest you do the same. Do NOT waste your time and money at this restaurant.

Ok the environment is cute and well decorated. The server forgot the order twice. Waited. a bit for. service but not too long. The food(including the salsa) was bland. Tried to. order in advance so the food would be ready, but they would. not accomodate that. No big deal really as.the.food.came out quickly. Other than that, nothing great here.

Homey atmosphere and friendly service! Our appetizers were delicious. The skillet fries were sizzling when they got to the table. It was great food and a show! The Banderas platter had something for everyone. My cup of tortilla soup had wonderful flavor. The burritos and enchiladas were simple and tasty. The accompanying beans and rice went well with the dinners. Sopapillas topped off a memorable meal. I highly recommend this place and will be back even though we fed three and a child for $ 80.

I’ve been to many Tex-Mex restaurants but none stood out to me except for this place. The first thing I look forward to is the unlimited chips and salsa. If you can get the salsa to taste just about right, that tells me there are other good dishes on the menu. Their red salsa is refreshingly delicious. I would usually ask for extra as a dipping sauce and would also add it to my rice. It’s so hard to keep my fingers away from the chips and salsa but I must save my appetite for the main entrée. My favorite order is the chicken Chimichanga plate. Comes with rice and beans but I usually substitute the beans for extra rice. This would only cost me under $ 8 lunch special price. They have this amazing spicy green tomatillo sauce. I would ask to have this added to my plate. One of the best sauce I’ve tried. Their enchiladas and burritos are great choices as well. I just usually order my favorite dish since no where else can make it like theirs. Always great service. Definitely a place to checkout in the Downtown Garland area. There are additional parking to the left side of the restaurant. It’s a bit further in the back but walking distance is still close.

Love this place! I had a really good chimichanga and my husband likes nearly everything on the menu. The salsa is great. It’s homey without feeling cramped.

Ate there for the 1st time yesterday. I’ll be going back. Had the Banderas salad(I think that’s what it was called.). Had fajita chicken and beef, bacon, avocado, and a kicka** sauce of some kind that I drizzled over it. Wish the salsa had been hotter/spicier but by no means a deal breaker. One of the best salads I’ve ever eaten anywhere. Next time I’ll try the nachos or enchiladas!

This is always a good place to go for lunch or dinner. Good service and good food. Reliable and dependable and tasty. This my wife’s favorite place. The single star ratings are not warranted for this place. It’s not perfect but purdy good stuff!

My go to place for Mexican food in Garland. I live close by and go there fairly often. Their Mexican breakfast is overlooked, but is inexpensive and very good! Migas are excellent and breakfast burrito are good size and delicious. They have a good little bar and a good selection of beer! For dinner I recommend the Carne Asada, Shrimp Al Mojo De Ojo or Monterrey Steak, all very good and large portions!

Oh how you have failed me. After many breakfasts and dinners, our experience last week was a low mark in our relationship… I had the Tex Mex Combo plate and it was indeed a plate of fail. The cheese enchilada was flat, flavorless and the cheese was reminiscent of what you would find on a half cooked grilled cheese sandwich. The chicken burrito appeared to be chicken from a warmer, wrapped in a tortilla with all the care of a bored prison cook. It was sloppy, loose, flavorless and the queso was as flat as a Paris fashion model. The flauta was a grease soaked tube filled with boring mince. It was not the crisp flavorful flauta I have come to know and love. The taco? No, I just won’t go there… My wife had the Burrito Dinner. Her account parallels my own. She could have been eating minced mystery meat wrapped in construction paper for all the flavor it had. No flavor or seasoning. It was just meat from a warming tray, wrapped in a tortilla and slathered in the same coma inducing queso in which your tongue actually falls asleep during chewing. My dish and hers were served quickly and yet completely tepid. The boy had a Chicken Fajita Quesadilla and ate it. No usual comments on how good it was. This is explains his unnatural fascination with the chips. At least they had salt. The service was spot on and the food was not the servers fault. The fault was laziness in the kitchen and total lack of attention to what they are serving. Chili Gordo’s does it light years better.

First time here and i really enjoyed it. Salsa was great but the queso was really runny. The service was fast and our meals were hot and tasty. Me and my husband each enjoyed our chicken and fish tacos. To finish our meal we grabbed a few sopapillas and they were delicious! We had an app, 2 meals with drinks and dessert all for under $ 35. We will be returning soon.

I just recently moved here from Houston and was a little hesitant about going to a Mexican restaurant I didn’t know. Usually you never know if you’re going to get lucky with finding a restaurant that had great food or really bad food. Luckily my husband and I decided to give this one a try after church and to be honest I was very surprised and impressed! They give out free chips and salsa, which is a major plus, but what was even greater was the taste and freshness of the salsa. It was extremely addicting, I could hardly stop eating it! My husband ordered the veggie enchilada, which I wasn’t much a fan of, but he certainly seemed to like it. I ordered the fajita plate, which came with a good amount of fajita(too much I had to share) on top of grilled peppers and onions(YUM!), refried beans(tasted homemade) and rice(flavorful), sour cream, Pico de gallo, guacamole, and tortillas. It was beyond delicious when put together in a taco along with the salsa they serve you. My mouth was in food heaven! To be honest I was afraid to come here because of the reviews but everyone has different opinions. Sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith and try things out for yourself.
