Let me give you the good first: Dr Rollins and her staff are very nice and they take our Blue Cross dental insurance(which is why I had chosen her — I used to go to Dr. Baker but his practice accepts no insurance of any type). Now for the bad, which I wish wasn’t so extensive since they’re very nice people — I’d like to be able to say my experience was good. I had a crown done in December 2010. They had trouble with the molds(air bubbles or some such) and had to redo them. No, sweat, I thought — it happens. Then they had trouble with the temporary crown and spent an inordinate time fitting it. At one point, she broke the temp with all the inning and outing and had to make another. Then again, on it went, wiggle-wiggle test-test, then off it came for a little adjusting. Then on it went, wiggle-wiggle test-test, then off it came. Over and over again while the novocaine wore off and things were becoming uncomfortable. They finally got it the way they wanted it and off I went. I returned a couple weeks later for the permanent crown and things went pretty much as they should. I needed two more crowns and figured things had been a little rocky the first time, but, as they say, stuff happens. I wish I had run… I returned for the additional crowns. The initial visit(grinding away the existing teeth and taking molds, etc) went OK with only a couple redos in the process, much like the first time. I did feel at that point, «OK, you really ought to get this right!» but figured oh well, just get me finished and I’ll find a dentist who does better before I need anything else done. I returned for the permanent crown and after much effort, it didn’t fit. They said they’d have to reorder the crown. I was already hurting from all the abuse they’d put my mouth trhough trying to fit the crown. Now, unfortunately, when you find yourself in this situation, they have to re-prep the teeth that need a crown and take fresh molds, so it was like having 4 crowns done instead of two. I wouldn’t recommend this and after a couple hours in the chair I left the office feeling like I’d been run over by a truck — repeatedly… I have to admit, I really didn’t want to go back. I’ve never had a fear of dentists before, but I had to give myself a serious pep talk to walk through Dr. Rollins’ door again. Thankfully, my third and final visit for these two crowns went off without the same level of problems I’d experienced in any of my previous 4 visits(crown #1 times 2 visits and crowns 2&3 times 2 visits up to this point). After only some minor issues we were mercifully done — proof there is a merciful God who knew I couldn’t stand any more problems… I knew I wouldn’t return to Dr. Rollins, regardless of insurance. But when they called me today to schedule my 6-month cleaning, and my heart began to race and my palms to perspire, I thought maybe a should write a review about my experience. The thought became a conviction when I read some other poor slob’s experience(sorry, you’re probably a very nice person — just a figure of speech!) that was similar — maybe worse! — than mine. Looking for a good dentist? Keep looking! In fact, run… Go up the street a couple blocks to Richard Baker’s office(or his business partner, Dr. Lawson, though I haven’t been to Lawson) — he’s really outstanding!
