I had high hopes for this place-​I must have just been high. I love to give new local places a shot and was really excited when this place opened close to the office. I should have saved my excitement for someplace else.
First sign of trouble-​one menu when you go in. I’m not talking about serving the same thing all day. I mean only one physical menu in the place. Next, only one guy working-​not a big deal when you are talking premade or fast food-​but when you are talking made when you order southern cooking there may be issues. And there were.
After ordering our food (I went with fried pork chop with potatoes and another completely forgettable side (I mean literally I can’t even remember what it was). Coworkers orders included chicken plates and a side of candied yams.
We waited, and waited, and waited. Once the lunch hour was officially over we told him we had to return to the office. He said he would deliver it since we were so close. Ok– nice touch. Trying to go the extra mile.
45 minutes later still no food. Finally we went up to the front of the office to see if they had heard from anyone. They told us he had just left. We spotted him in the parking lot and sprinted to catch him. He had already given two of the four meals away to people — and let us know he almost wasted 60 dollars worth of food. It seemed like he was expecting us to offer to pay for the food he gave away.
Now, as for the food. The pork chops were good-​about a three star. The sides were completely forgettable and the side of candied yams were burned. We could not judge the chicken or other meats as they were the plates he gave away. I will say that the portions are generous.
I hope that this was just a case of opening a new business snafus and that service and food will improve-​if not I doubt there will even be time for a return visit.
