Hot water heater went out Sunday night … Speake’s came Monday Morning! I saw the great reviews on Unilocal,remember seeing their truck around town and called in soon after they opened at 7am — what a relief to know that a great plumber was on the way with a new water heater. They were very polite, explained what they needed to do and were very clean. The part of the garage with the water heater looked even cleaner after they left. I was impressed with the tidy job of pipes and hoses in our hot water closet and also that they went into the attic to verify that the venting was correct. I also appreciated that he showed me how to turn on the water heater and what to do if we ever needed to turn it off. And all of this for a reasonable price. I’m glad I called Speake’s!

Very quick service. Had to power auger drain lines. Finally broke through whatever was backing up the sewage. We’ve used Speake’s for a long time and they are still our go-​to. Again impressed and thankful for their service. After unclogging, they even went the extra step to add recommendations to the service bill… «Add chicken wire on vents, no ultra toilet paper, wipes, or other products in the toilets.» Labor was under one hundred per hour and twenty f|ve dollar service call.

We called speakes to snake the main line on the roof. Due to my working hours I had a friend sit at my house and wait for speakes to arrive. When I called speakes originally I did tell them exactly what I want. But I didn’t tell the friend who was waiting what they were supposed to do. Speakes arrives on time and due to a break down in communication they just snaked the bath tub. I call them and tell them of the error. And they came back out. Snaked the roof. Very happy with the service. Honest people and I appreciate that. Highly recommend speakes plumbing.

Called these guys for a kitchen sink drain issue. Fixed it in 20 minutes, charged $ 145. ($ 95 labor plus $ 25 service call and $ 25 equipment). I wrote a personal check and for some reason they needed my DOB and driver’s license for proof. Never had that request from a plumbing guy before. I guess the rate is market rate and not anything cheap.

Very friendly and prompt plumbing service. Used to repair our hot water heater twice and they had a plumber at our house within a couple hours of our phone call both times. Rates are reasonable. Plumber polite, knowledgeable and thorough.

We only call Speakes Plumbing for our house and my mother’s house. They have taken care of water heaters, foundation leaks, gas lines, and water lines. All the crews have been knowledgeable and efficient. Even though no weekend service is available, they have always been quick to respond to our needs. Lucas, Casey, or Lee are always friendly and professional. They also take the time to explain to us everything neede. They are also well respected by city inspectors that follow up when permits are needed. Highly recommend them!

I was delighted this morning to hear a strong rainstorm with water pouring on my kitchen window. BUT it was not rain. It was a busted water spigot.

This could have been a very complex and expensive repair that would have involved immense damage to my siding. But plumbing genius Garlan made a replacement with a special kit he had in his truck.
The whole issue was resolved in less than 20 minutes after his arrival and it only cost $ 189. God answered my prayers with Speake’s plumbing.
In addition to the comfort and trust Speake’s provided, Garlan was personable, professional and knew his trade. $ 189 is a bargain what could have been catastrophic flooding and damage.
I would recommend Speake’s over any plumbing company in the Metroplex.

Simply put — Speake’s is the only plumber/​plumbing service I will ever use. I have 3 rentals and 1 personal property and they have done excellent work on all of them. As previous reveiws have stated — they are fair and honest, above reproach. I had to use an emergency plumber on a Saturday night one time, they tried to sell me on a 3k job. I called because my shower diverter (thing that switches from tub to shower) had quit. I also had some longstanding problems from the previous owners. Fixed the shower as best it could be fixed (the previous owner had used super glue) & told us that further repairs would take going through the wall, asking if we wanted to tackle that now or not. We didn’t. The previous owners had clogged the bathroom sinks with all manner of junk, they vacuumed that out & the sinks work great. Probably the most notable service was the one they suggested I didn’t need. Our laundry machine drain vents into the attic, instead of all the way through it to the roof. I asked for them to extend it through. They said that since it’s been that way for a while and they didn’t see any evidence of mold, they didn’t think it was necessary right now. I didn’t get it done, but I will call them in the future.

My mom was doing a load of laundry a few days back and as the washer drained it backed up into the tub. She initially called another plumber who shall go unnamed. They ran a snake through the pipes and couple times to the tune $ 200 each time didn’t tell her what was wrong and needed to be fixed wither time. They they wanted to dig up the yard and replace all the pipe down to the city line as a cost of $ 2k. I smelled a scam and had my mom call Speakes Speakes is what all business in the service trades should strive to be, fair and honest. They sent someone out to my moms within and hour or two. Not only were they able to find the problem, but they fixed in in less than an hour and the whole thing only cost $ 140. I could not possible say enough positive things about this company.
They are and honest and knowledgeable local business and they get the job done right.

My mom had them replace her hot water heater. That evening a huge leak came from the water heater and Speakes does not work after 5 p.m. They have no emergency service. So you are up the proverbial creek without a paddle if you have a problem in the afternoon. She had to have the City come out to turn it off at the curb until it could be fixed. She and my dying step father and handicapped grandmother had to go without running water all night until the next day when they replaced the water heater.
With a big company like this, they should pay someone to do emergency calls in the evening.

It was at this most August point in Earth’s history that the first amphibious creatures to evolve reached out with their stubby, scaly paws, and with deliberate steps, crawled out of the water and into the glorious sun. No longer confined to the reeking pools of the fetid swamps, they were now free! Free to roam the banks of slippery mud and begin their dominion of this new, uncharted world! They were the pioneers of the new future, a new world order that would span the millennia.
And it was about three whole seconds later that they realized what a colossal #$@&!@ mistake they had made.
The problem was quite simple. Land, by definition, was not water. Land was here, under their feet, but the water was now inconveniently over «there», and the further into the land you went, the more distant the water became. And since water remained essential to staying «not-​dead», this meant that the more involved you became with land, the more work you had to perform in order to get water.
For the first amphibians, this meant hoofing it over miles of jungle, dodging 8-​foot cockroaches and whatever other nightmares mother nature had just cooked up, all for the simple sake of getting a drink and live to see another day of roach-​dodging. Worse still, having kids required more water and an extended honeymoon at any one of a million watering holes that quickly became known as «Predator Heaven» or «Prey Hell» (today known as «Club Med»).
For millions of years, this was de rigueur for all the life that walked or crawled or slithered on this earth.
It was a serious bummer.
Then, around 245 MYA, the dinosaurs appeared. These newer models were special because of their revolutionary approach to the egg. Instead of dumping an egg in water and praying for the best as the roaches charged, these guys encapsulated the water INSIDE the shell of the egg. Mothers around the world were free to «fire at will» as they pleased, the nearest pond and its minions of death be damned.
It was the world’s first attempt at plumbing.
Sadly, it was about the most successful nature was able to devise until homo sapiens appeared. It was the Romans who most famously tackled the problem of moving water from where it was to where people wanted it to be — mainly, in their bathtubs. Because nature had forgotten about body odor during the leap to land, too.
It wasn’t long before the Romans invented indoor plumbing and health spas proliferated across the world of the ancients like Starbucks hitting virgin territory. For the first time, life did not have to bust its hump for a dip in lavender bubbles and a good loofah scrub.
Unfortunately, the new technology was entirely based on pipes made out of lead, and the history of plumbing pretty much went downhill from that point on.
Perhaps it was an affectation of the lead coursing happily through their veins, but humanity bought into the whole indoor plumbing concept and added to it exponentially. Baths became showers, showers became multi-​headed, holes over the inlaw’s room became toilets, and we all completely forgot how the whole thing worked.
As the opportunities for profit grew in this ecological niche, a new breed of specialists with low-​hanging jeans quickly evolved to pick up the slack and make a quick buck. And many of them made more than just a quick buck or two. For the unwary ex-​amphibian caught in the clutches of a wrench-​wielding roach named «Bob», a $ 2 leak in a shower could easily become a $ 15K home-​improvement odyssey through the depths of hell. And as quickly as the damage was done, «Bob» and his ilk would scurry back into the underbrush to hide under logs and leaf litter to await the next sucker to call out for a water heater installation.
Ever since, it’s been a hard job to sort out the roaches from the saints.
Happily, Speake’s is one of the few saints on the block. And what miracles they perform! They arrive, when they say they will arrive. Their arrival «window» can be as little as 2 hours. They know what they’re doing, and do it very quickly. They are very free and open with advice and options, but don’t push a hard sell. And they go the extra mile to make sure everything is done right.
My parents had a leak in their shower. $ 15K was the estimate to rip it out & replace. But Speake’s diagnosed a potential seal leak over the phone and talked them through the fix. About $ 50 and some elbow grease was all they needed. They did it themselves & hired Speake’s to install a set of water heaters. On that basis, we had Speake’s install our new heater. It wasn’t cheap, but they used quality materials you don’t get from Home Depot. Better yet, they installed a catch-​pan for the water and the release pipe (which went through the wall), gratis. Speake’s gets my highest recommendation
