The trails are mostly paved. I prefer unpaved trails. This is not for real hiking. The small unpaved trails are just that: small, a few feet in length.

Found this place on a Top 10 places to hike list that had previously turned out some great trail hiking locations. Spring Creek is easy to find but the trails themselves are not marked, hard to find and very lack luster. The large area marked«Spring Creek Preserve» ended up being a dangerous, overgrown area rather than anything that should be on a Top 10 list. The paved trail was very nice and would be a good place to ride a bike or jog but the dirt trails were a joke.

There are better trails for hiking in the Dallas area than this place. The paved areas are nice and good for runners and walkers but my friend and I prefer unpaved hiking trails. We read an article that named this one of the top ten areas to hike in the Dallas area so we decided to check it out. Per the article, we parked in the lot on the east side of Holford Road and took the paved path until it ended at Garland Road. From there you cross the street and there is a sign marking the trailhead for the unpaved path. «Cool!» we thought, adventure awaits! That is until we got a few steps in and realized the trail was severely overgrown. As bushes and thorny vines slapped us in the shins, face, everywhere, we continued on but the trail was very hard to follow and there were no signs or maps. We came to a point where the trail was so overgrown that we could not continue because it was impossible to find where the trail continued. We turned back and headed back to the parking lot where we talked to a runner who said the area used to be good for trail hiking until it became overgrown due to lack of maintenance. He suggested starting in the parking lot on the west side of Holford Road where there are a few more unpaved trails. We took his advice and found the trails to be easy to follow but short with no elevation changes. The total unpaved trail was about a mile hike. The trail runs alongside a creek that is a total joke. The creek had lots of trash in it and just wasn’t pleasant to look at. Overall, this place is a waste of time if you want to go trail hiking. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because the paved trail seemed to be a decent place to take a walk or run. I won’t be returning though.

A girlfriend & I decided to explore this place. It has a large parking lot, a few different trails(but no maps of them, or if they did I completely missed them). We enjoyed our walk & will definitely be coming back. It’s paved so it’s good for kids & their bikes(my kids prefer paved paths for biking). They do have restrooms although they were locked when we went.
