To be fair, this is not a review of Dr. Hernandez’s service per se, but the overall organization and conduct on billing practices. Went in for a simple eye exam so that I could order refills for my contacts. Dr. Hernandez insisted I do the routine eye exam and a refraction. Paid my copay from my vision insurance and was out of the office an hour later. Recently, I received a bill(about 10 – 11 months later) from Dr. Hernandez’s office for a service that I paid via my insurance back in May of 2015. I don’t mind paying the $ 150 fee, but the fact that I had to receive the bill 10 months later is just unprofessional of the organization. If I was told after the appointment or a few months after that there would be a fee, I wouldn’t have mind, however to receive a bill 10 months later, is unheard of. Dr. Hernandez’s office still has my contact #, why couldn’t they inform me of the bill prior? To be clear, I have used the same vision insurance from another provider and have only paid the necessary co-pay. Contacts/glasses, I understand has a deductible and the insurance may only cover part of the cost.

Would never recommend this place! They are the worst, especially the office staff and most of them don’t know what they are doing. Couple of my really bad experiences that stands out: — They treated me for Glaucoma for more than 2 years only to find out later when i did my LASIK that i never really had Glaucoma. — I was overcharged on my last visit to Vision Source(which was before i relocated to California from Texas) and it took me an entire year to get my refund! So this happened on 11/2014.they did the same tests on me which they had done a couple of months back and the bill came out different. on checking with them as to why the charges would be different for the same procedure on the same benefit year, i was told that’s the amount which they got from my insurance company :| I kept on arguing with them but again whats the point in arguing with people who have no common sense! I waited for my EOB and sure enough i was overcharged. called my insurance company and they told Vision Source to refund the difference amount(around $ 39). I had to follow up at least 10 times and shout at them before i finally received my refund a year later! I’m lazy to type too much and since a picture is worth a 1000 words i have attached some images for proof(and even though the check says July, 2015 i never received it till Nov, 2015 since they kept on sending it to the wrong address apparently!)

I love this place! Dr Hernandez and Dr Nguyen are both great doctors! My son and daughter are both patients here. The staff and doctors are all professional, knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. They assisted me on purchasing a pair of Oakley’s for my husband without him knowing. We went in on 2÷6÷16 for my son’s eye exam and my husband kept trying on different pairs of Oakley’s they carried in the frames section. He was interested in only one pair of Oakley’s. I asked our eye technician Adrian if he could persuade my husband not to purchase them so that I could come back a different day to purchase them as a gift. He was superb he convinced my husband not to purchase them. I came to purchase them yesterday 2÷12÷16 and they were still available. I am so excited! I can’t wait to surprise my husband on Valentine’s Day and see the reaction on his face! I want to thank everyone at Vision Source! I couldn’t have done this without you!

Horrible. My son went last year for the first time. They pushed us to get his glasses at their location and would not give us the prescription until we actually looked and picked out glasses there. The glasses are STUPID expensive for what you get. At the time I was in a hurry but now that I think back on it, that is shady as all get out. I bought the warranty on the glasses, which was also pushed. Well, they broke. Exactly 1 week from the year point we had been there. I called to see if they would honor the warranty since it had only been a short time and nope. I explained we had a dire situation because my son can not see without his glasses(this was a Saturday morning) and they never offered to see him at all, just wanted to confirm an appointment that was set for 2 weeks later. I don’t need an appointment in 2 weeks, we need it NOW so we can get new glasses! Needless to say I will never be back here. And, can the person answering the phone take the rocks out of her mouth? You can’t understand a thing that chick says.

Terrible appointment! Thought my appointment was with Dr, Hernandez, but it was with another doctor who was hard to understand, took too long with the entire exam, etc. Just plain terrible! My appointment was for 2pm. and I didn’t leave their office until 5pm. Unacceptable! Excuse after excuse about the length of the appointment. With my vision insurance, the price of my glasses was over $ 400. I took the prescription some place else and my glasses were $ 180. out of pocket! Find another place to go!

I kept forgetting on writing a review for this place. So basically I took my grandparents here, we have to come back the second time for appointment because the wait was long for walk in. Even with second appointment the second time, we still had to wait for two hours. The doctor was very unprofessional and rude, she told me my grandparents were going blind, well they are not(we got second n third opinion just in case). They over charge and the whole experiences weren’t pleasant.

I’ve been meaning to write this review and kept forgetting. i went here a year or so back. I called first to get an idea about how much a basic eye exam would cost. Can’t remember the exact amount but they quoted less than $ 200. Well they get me in there and insist it’s necessary to run me through all these high-tech tests with these big fancy machines. Okay fine. The bill ended up being over $ 400. Okay, well if that’s what it costs to get the job done right then okay that’s fair. Well the problem is the prescription was way off. My glasses are unusable. The funny thing is they actually call to follow up(giving the impression they give a crap if they did a good job). So I told them the prescription was off and I can’t even put on my glasses. «Oh okay well I will let the doctor know and someone will call you back». Yeah right. Never heard anything. I never followed up because the money isn’t a big deal — with service like that she probably needs the money more than I do — or will eventually. She can keep it. I have an intolerance for incompetent people so even a quick phone call would only annoy me. In short, don’t go there. They have big fancy machines that they don’t know how to use and their follow up call is simply to make you feel like they give a crap. Waste of money.

I went to this establishment for new glasses. I took with me, a pair of readers I bought and loved the frames on and wanted to have them fitted with my new lenses. I was told it was not a possibility. Picked out frames and had an order ready to go which was gonna cost me somewhere around 400.00WITH insurance coverage! Next day I call and tell them I cannot do it and they are too expensive, so they say, they will stop the order and when I can to come in and we will draw up an order for a more affordable deal. In the meanwhile, I contact two different optical places that tell me without a doubt, that they can indeed fit the frames I want with the lenses I need. So, I call this establishment back and tell them that I have found someone who can do the job on the frames I want and I want my initial(half payment) outlay of money back. They said no, their policy is no refunds. I have had my insurance people speak with them, corporate from Vision Source speak with them and they are not budging. They both said how badly they felt and feel she is being unreasonable. I filed a complaint with the BBB and still waiting to hear anything on that. This has been going on since Sept 29 and now it is Nov 16! I just want my money back and I don’t want the glasses that they said they would NOT order, they KNEW I did not want them. I am ready to call channel 8 news to give them my story. Oh and I did not mention the fact that when I was seated having my eye exam, Dr. Hernandez pulled out her script pad and wrote me a script for eye drops for my «allergy eyes» as she called them without even asking me how my eyes felt. She said be sure and see me back in two weeks. Of course, so she can get even more money from my case as then she would be getting paid by my BCBS for the follow-up. I didn’t get the script filled as I did not need the steroid she said I needed. She sells jewelry in her waiting area, leftover from a business she was previously in. She is all about MONEY and getting as much as she can even if it is mistreating the people that walk in her door. There is a five star rating up above, she gets NOSTAR as far as I am concerned. My wife has had nothing but horrible things to tell me about this place. She has been a handful of times, out of necessity, and it gets worse every time. We planned to review it several times but, alas, it was neglected. It is finally time to review this monstrosity so that everyone knows to STAYAWAY! The latest tale in her words: Pathetic customer service and incompetant employees. I made an eye appt in advance, provided all of my insurance info to the front staff. On the day of appt., I am informed that the front staff never called to verify my information and my insurance was not processing correctly, for whatever reason. If the staff called me prior to my appt., it would have been simple for me to get the necessary information. Instead, I had to cancel my appt. The staff was not apologetic at all, the girl behind the counter just shrugged her shoulders to all of my questions.
