Good for country folks that like pork and everything cooked in pork. I don’t especially, so it’s not ever going to be my favorite spot. We went this morning and I ordered eggs, rice, and tomatoes. Unfortunately the rice was only available from the buffet, which I can’t do, so I didn’t get what I came for. The eggs were cold when I finally got them. The server was extremely nice and very attentive, so I would give her five stars. The staff is pretty much always very friendly.

Wow. Beyond excited with this find. Let’s start with the food-Delish!!! I actually thought about licking the plate but then my morals and values kicked in! How can great food be so cheap? I wrapped my mind around this all evening and got no where. The food is amazing! Customer service: Is it possible to be treated like a queen per dining at a restaurant? I’m not lying they were tooooo kind and treated me as if they knew me from birth! Not possible! Total shock by the way they treat their customers. I will definitely return for the best food and service in the area. Someone please wake me from this dream! Or don’t! ;-)

Stopped into this local joint this morning. My server was very attentive and handled all my needs plus some. It’s an old establishment that was attended by the long time local customers. It was rustic with old time pictures on the wall which is not a bad thing. I took on two eggs, bacon, hash browns and biscuit which set me back six clams and change. I also had a coffee which was not bad. My problem is the bacon seemed old, it lacked flavor and the hash browns did not come out crispy as requested. Eggs over easy one can’t mess up(I think) and biscuits were warm but also tended to lack flavor. To be fair I will give it another shot and try lunch as well. I like the drive up window for take out orders at Toot and Tell and will utilize the next to Time.

I’ve grown up in this restaurant and the food is always worthy of 5 stars! Great southern cooking, like you’re in grandma’s kitchen. The staff is very hospitable, and welcoming. I’ve never had a bad experience here. The desserts are great, especially the banana pudding and peach cobbler. It’s the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. I would definitely recommend trying it out, you will not be disappointed!

The worst food I think I have ever eaten! Just wanted my money! They were very rude when I complained.

Awful! Dirty, place smells bad, service is bad and unprofessional, AC set too cold, buffet food looked and tasted awful, not sure how this place has been in business so long. I will not be back!

Someone else here said, «you get what you pay for,» and Toot-n-Tell certainly is a prime example. Sure it’s cheap, but so is dog food. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was a homey southern. But that’s about the extent of it. My husband ordered off the buffet, but I wasn’t nearly so brave. My portion of chopped pork was good sized. Not the best bbq I’ve had. Veggies were clearly fresh from the can and the potatoes were lumpy, dry instant flakes. It was very meh. I prefer to spend my money at restaurants for food I can’t make at home. I enjoy experiencing my food. Toot-n-Tell isn’t the place for a nice meal. It’s a place to get cheap food cheaply.

I grew up around garner and have had a few sunday evening dinners here back in the day, were talking the early 90’s here. so it’s kinda like a(if you havent eaten here your not a local) kinda place. but since my early childhood has faded into the seemingly very distant past so has my interest in this old G-Town staple. to be frank i know exactly why i have been unknowingly avoiding this blast from my past. it was all due to a experience i had there when i was younger and let me tell you now im not dogging there food. i have had decent meals there in the past but for some reason everything was just off that day. the food just didn’t have that«kick», ya know?. and the iced tea had a funny taste to it that just stayed in your mouth afterword’s. it was just not the food and service i was use too growing up(it was really bad that day). maybe there was a change in staff or something along those lines, because after what seemed like a episode of fear factor i haven’t been back sense. but i don’t want to upset any current fans of this well known little spot but i think its ran its course with me. Sorry T-N-T you will be missed.

We had lunch here today — first time in a few years. I first ate here in 1954, just after we moved to Garner from Greensboro. It was a drive-in with curb service only then, but has been added on to a number of times, resulting in a kind of maze effect inside. The area that was originally expanded to add seats is worn, tired feeling, and dim — the«newer» area where the buffet resdies is a bit brighter — but the décor is still very dated, funky, in a shabby kind of way. They do breakfast, lunch, and dinner here — all country, all the time. The buffet is varied, both in content and quality. The fried chicken is very good, as is the fried pork chop. The fish(usually croaker), and the country style steak are better left on the buffet — in fact, the cs steak reminds me of the«mystery meat» served by most school systems in NC, back in the day. There is always fried fatback on the buffet — if you have to ask what it is, you will not like it. The veggies are almost all good, with the M&C, field peas, fried okra, and fried squash being excellent. The hush puppies and rolls served with the buffet are nice, as well. And most of the desserts are good, although the bannana pudding is not their best effort. Go for the peach cobbler and the chocolate cake. The sandwiches here are generally good. Nice Southern style chili dog, really solid pork chop sandwich — not quite up to Snappy Luch or Willie’s, but solid — it is served with bone in, as is the chicken sandwich. They also offer a fatback sandwich(called Fried Salt Pork), a country ham sandwich, and of course, a fried bologna sandwich. All are excellent, try them — just cut the fedders from your mind and let it soar. They do a killer breakfast, even though they do not offer liver pudding or scrapple. How very strange. The staff is what you would expect — efficient, folksy, slightly crabby, and most still slip outside for a smoke. Prices are more than reasonable. This place is country, and cool.

The food here was a mixed bag. The buffet is less than $ 6, so it certainly is cheap, but you get what you pay for. Some of the items are good, some are okay, and some aren’t quite so good. I ate lunch here, and the biscuits on the buffet were a bit on the stale side, like they had sat around since the place opened in the morning. All the desserts that I tried were really good. If you’re not a really big eater, you might be better off going to a cafeteria.

A Garner institution. There’s always fatback on the buffet. When Grandpa Jones read off the dinner menu on Hee Haw it might well have been the Toot and Tell It buffet. It’s a good old fashioned southern hole– in –the– wall restaurant. The décor ain’t much to look at but the food is what you go for.
