Target master is making a killing off of your customers in which you do have control of. A transfer for a gun is 15 $ they make $ 15 dollars off of each gun how does that not effect the price of the gun. I don’t understand your point. You have control of who does the transfers. By saying this, you don’t care if target master is gouging your customers. And as far as your point on your auctioneers needing to communicate I see your point. But the fact is they constantly sush people to the point it’s to much. If I can hear the bids your workers can here them to. I do enjoy Briggs but I feel these things need to be addressed

I bought plenty of stuff from Briggs over the past few years: cookware, furniture, etc. I can’t speak to how the owner and workers are with handling the actual estates, because I never used their services for that, but I can say that they are always friendly at the auction. I used go to Briggs fairly frequently and they still remember me, which is always nice. My complaint though(which is no fault of Briggs), is that there alot of second-hand shop owners that go there to buy for their stores. That’s awesome for them, but bad for a new homeowner like me that just wants inexpensive, nice furniture. I tend to miss out when the price goes too high. Oh well!

More unprofessional behavior from Briggs. After posting my review they responded by saying the fault was mine for not calling in, despite my assertion that I had already made multiple phone calls after John Turner’s visit. Reading thru the reviews I notice I am not the only person to complain about the auctioneers, or to call them unprofessional. And I didn’t even mention the sick looking cat that lays on the rugs and furniture you are trying to buy. It’s a 3rd class organization with a better than deserved reputation. Seriously, do not go to these guys.

I like this auction very much. You can find beautiful things at reasonable prices. I wish I could visit more often. Unfortunately, both times I have been there, there is a sick looking cat strolling around. I wish the management would consider that some of the customers have allergies, and keep this pet elsewhere. I would give the auction 4 or 5 star if not for this unfortunate and unprofessional issue… Mary S.

I have attended many auctions. high end art auctions and many country auctions up and down the east coast. We set out to visit and enjoy some of the many auctions in PA and noticed Briggs had one scheduled on a day we would be in that vicinity. I called ahead to see if the merchandise I was seeking would be available and found out it was. We happen to notice a very negative review for Briggs and though perhaps it was just a disgruntled guest… so we headed over. When we arrived to preview the items and sign in we spoke with a lovely and pleasant woman at the front desk. She was helpful and directed us over to the showcase where someone would show us the items we were interested in. She was, as well, very helpful and patient. I have a visual problem and hoped for seats closet to the front. We were told to leave our names on a piece of paper and place that on a chair to «hold» the seating we wanted. She assured us no one would dare to «bother» with the paper. So… off we went awaiting the start of auction when we would return. We did come back at the appointed time and went to take our«held» seats. There was a couple seated there and when we nicely mentioned we had saved the seats as directed, we were told… quite rudely ‘seats don’t get saved here”. I noticed 2 other seats in the row ahead with«hold signs» on them and said«fine, we’ll sit here». The woman nastily said«no you won’t…don’t you see they are being held» !!! I asked here to make up her mind… do they hold seats or not !!! Seems it depends on whether or not you are a regular. The auctioneers assistant, who seemed to me the owner, embarrassed me in front of everyone a few minutes later by asking me to move back… other people wanted those seats. These by the way were not«held» seats just vacant seats. So now the auction begins and it doesn’t take long to realize the auctioneer was not acknowledging my bids. I am not a shy bidder! It would be hard for him to really miss me! I had to stand and shout for recognition… I was right in front of him two rows back! I was bidding on a lot of items and once they saw I was spending they paid a bit more attention to me. Things move quickly during bidding and I have to pay attention, so it took a few minutes for me to realize the«assistant or owner» was actually bidding against me!!! Where I come from, that’s illegal. To add to this mess there were people all over the place. They were examining items as they were being held up for bid… you could see nothing. This was the most disorganized, unprofessional circus masquerading as an auction that I have ever seen. The auctioneer could not be heard, the mike was not working properly, and he was not able to control the room. Talking, shouting, milling about and disrupting the flow of bidding was allowed to continue through the entire auction… at least for the time we were there. What can I say… The original review we read was spot on. This was the furthest thing from an auction I have experienced. Save your money and sanity… there are plenty of auction houses out there… let’s hope they are more professional than this nuthouse.

Went to Briggs this past weekend and picked up a few nice antiques with no issues. However, I did notice that several other people experienced this past Friday what I have previously experienced, even with several people yelling out to the auctioneer. I am raising my review to a 3 star because this past weekend was enjyoble with no issues for myself or my husband. However, other reviewers should keep in mind that the purpose of Unilocal is not to review other people’s comments such as mine was but to review your own experience with that place of business. If you would like to offer any other unsolicited advice when you are not aware of what I did or did not do, please feel free to message me. Most auction houses are tradition and I have been to so many different auction houses all over PA, NJ and DE and also estate auctions on site as well. My husband was born and raised and grew up with auctions since before he could walk. You are preaching to the choir.(LOL, people crack me up, everyone is an expert)
