What is not to love about the GAC? A community driven and supported organization dedicated to teaching, promoting and realizing the importance of the Arts, be it paint, clay, pencil, metal, you name it! I have gone to many receptions and events at the GAC but tonight was a special one for me as I got to see fellow Unilocaler Olga D’s beautiful porcelain clay portrait of a Russian Valkyrie. She is an amazing sculptress! :))) Her piece was part of a mentor/student/member show which was full of color, good cheer and animation using every sort of imaginable medium. We are so lucky to live in such a creative and generous community. And thank you to Olga for inviting us to the opening reception. :))) One of the GAC’s other wonderful events is their Artists on Location fundraising auction. On the day of the sale, many(there were 85 last Fall) artists go and render their works in situ and then sell them later that day. I have purchased many paintings over the years from various artists which still adorn my walls. It’s a great time and for a great cause, supporting creativity and a non-profit organization that can only benefit from additional funds. They are located on the west side of the Garrison train station.
