Finding this place felt like discovering a valuable gem in the pocket of a coat bought at a thrift store. Although Lake Station has a long way to go before anyone could describe it as beautiful, this park is certainly a big step in the right direction. It appears to be an artificial lake, given that it’s a perfect rectangle. They’ve lined it with driftwood carvings erected around the perimeter and facing the land, a playful allusion to Easter Island. There’s a little asphalt track surrounded by grass ringing those, with big leafy trees on one side, and marshy cat-tails on another. Irony can be found in the clearly visible billboards. The new City Hall and Library complex can also be seen from the park. It’s a block away from the new sports equipment at Four Winds Park.
