Amazing winery. I’ve been a club member here for years and I love Dean and Ann. Wonderful people making extraordinary Oregon wine!

This is a special place! Do not pass it up! Deano is a wine making scientist, artist and genius with a fun loving, welcoming personality along with an amazing instinct to blend each bottle of wine to perfection! ! This is the best winery in the area.

ADEA — Dean and JJ were the highlight of our day in the Willamette Valley. Dean has a fiery passion for his craft and he is a great dude! Each of the wines we sampled were delicious. He shared some interesting details about the history of the area, how different wines tend to develop their flavor once the bottle is opened and the wine making business in general. We cannot wait to get back here to visit them again when the 2011s are released.

LOVE this place! We were introduced to this place by friends of ours at the beginning of summer. The 6 of us stopped by on our way to a couple other wineries. We had a little picnic out on the patio; Dean came out and did several pours and chatted with us. I loved everything we tried. We all ended up joining the wine club before we left. :) We just went to our first pick-up party yesterday. Yup, still love this place. Like the other reviews have stated, this place is unassuming. The tasting room is comfortable and relaxed. Ann knew each of our names when we walked in, although some of us hadn’t even met her yet. Football game was on & they had BBQ ribs to eat. Dean is knowledgeable, and will talk to you about any and all of the wines. Make an appointment and stop by this place — you won’t regret it!

We made the call as tastings are by appointment. Dean answered and said come on down. We arrived at his unassuming winery, and were greeted by Dean holding court behind the bar. We tasted everything, even the stuff that Dean had sold out of and had in his personal stash. We even got do to some barrel tasting. Dean is clearly passionate about his craft, and very laid back. And the wine. Outstanding! We left with 5 bottles, and will definitely be back for more. Don’t miss this.

I cannot give enough Kudo’s here. Dean-O is an awesome host, his wine is amazing and he is so laid back. I had the best time hanging out and tasting wine at his tasting room. The pinot is delicious and if you are lucky, he will take you into the cellar and let you do some barrel tasting! A must taste if you come to Yamhill!

Dean took the time to go over all of his wines with us even with no appointment. They’ve been in business since 1990. Loved these wines, loved the sweet dogs hanging out in the tasting room.

Mrs. K.(congrats on FTR, babe!) is correct, as usual, on this one. First the name: The owner, Dean Fisher, named the wine after his family members(awwwwww…): Ann(wife), Dean, Erica(daughter) and Adam(son). I can get behind that. As has been previously mentioned, the first thing you’ll notice is how much Dean does NOT look like the image of a stereotypical winemaker that you have in your head. Big bushy beard, lynrd skynrd t-shirt, big suspenders, jeans, etc. This is a guy of whom I would be relatively intimidated if passing by on a dark street. The Fishers first planted pinot grapes on their property in 1990. Curiously(and funnily) enough, it was because there *had* been hay growing there but Dean got hay fever, so he had to replace it with something else — what better than pinot grapes?! The first wine produced on the Adea label was the 1995 vintage. And he’s been going strong ever since. The second thing you’ll notice(if you’re lucky and he’s there) is Mack Daddy — Dean’s(the family“s) 175 pound St. Bernard. And a complete pussy cat(so to speak). We showed up a little late(4pm-ish?) and Dean was finishing up with some folks(some regulars, which after visiting I could see how easy it would be to become). Dean started us out with a 2008 Chardonnay. Now, Chardonnay is not normally«my thing.» And this was our last stop after a day of wine tasting. So that any wine had any impression on me whatsoever speaks volumes. And if I were to buy a bottle of chardonnay, Dean would be probably the second place I looked(Anderson Family Vineyards’ chardonnay is *awfully* good). We then moved to the 2009 Pinot Noir Rose. I’ve been lucky enough to have some very, very good Rose’s in my life and while this wasn’t mind-blowing, it was completely solid and something of which I would definitely buy a bottle(and at the price point, you really can’t go wrong). At this point it becomes a little fuzzy. Not because I had tasted too much wine and was consequently too blitzed to tell white from red, but rather because Dean offers a staggering amount of pinot noirs from various vineyards in various locations. I will mention the two that stuck out(and of which I bought bottles):(1) 2008 Pinot Noir Cherry Grove Vineyard and(2) 2008 Pinot Noir Dean-O’s Pinot. After tasting several, those two stuck out to my palate. Dean kept us entertained far past normal business hours. He let us taste some wine straight from the barrel(a first for me and pretty cool). He actually let us try wine from two different barrels(same varietal, vintage, vineyard, location, etc.) and it was really fascinating the difference that you could tell in the taste from barrel to barrel. It just goes to show what a complicated process(good) wine-making in — adjusting only one variable at a time until you figure out exactly what works best for all of the factors involved. Dean only finished after we had finished our wine(and his wife, Ann had called him home for dinner), a little after 5:30pm. Combining solid wine with such an unique and entertaining and truly down-to-earth, engaging personality as Dean makes this a place to ensure you go to whenever you’re in wine country next. I’m sure Mrs. K. and I will stop in whenever we’re ever even vaguely in the area at any time in the future.

Dean and Mack Daddy, the Saint Bernard greeted us on our after-hours tasting here. Both owner and dog are super laid back and completely welcoming with open arms. It was almost time to close but Dean treated us like we were his first customers of the day. What I liked most about him was his attire… suspenders and a Lynyrd Skynyrd t-shirt topped off by a big bushy beard. Dean is a no-nonsense, be who you want to be kind of guy. He also had a Redneck Wine Glass sitting out on the shelf, which he washed out and let me drink from at my request. As I said there… the wine didn’t quite open up like I had hoped in this mason jar glass. Funny, no? I will tell you that I couldn’t get past his Pinot Blanc. My friend had been searching for a good Pinot Blanc to replace the one that was sold out at Four Graces, and boy did this one hit the spot! I liked it even better than Four Graces, so I bought a bottle while my friend took home an entire case. After my purchase, I felt a little saddened that summer was coming to an end soon, because it is the perfect«sit out on your deck in the sunshine» kind of wine. It is quite sweet, which is a huge bonus for me. Dean then took us into the room with the barrels and grabbed his wine thief so we could take a taste from two of them. We grabbed a picture with him, laughed a little(okay a lot) more, bought some wine and then went on our merry way. Kudos to Dean and his family for creating such a hospitable, comfortable wine tasting environment.
