I’m not even a fan of sweets but I pick something up almost very time I’m in Gate City. Excellent cupcakes and pastries, good coffee and the staff is very friendly. They also serve lunch but I haven’t had a chance to try it yet. Definitely worth stopping in if you’re in the area.

This is a charming bakery/​lunch spot in Gate City. Why? Other than the food and the baked treats, which are all outstanding? Atmosphere. Personnel. Friendly. Charming. Welcoming.
There are tables in two rooms, small tables for two, medium tables and big tables. They welcome people here. Need a place to meet with someone and do some planning? Go to the Family Bakery, you’ll be welcomed. Want some lunch? Go to the family bakery, you’ll be glad you did. They frequently run out of daily specials because they are so darn good. Others have told me their coffee is wonderful. I know their lemonade is. Their bakery items are wonderful, and big enough to share. The cookies are HUGE, and big enough to share.
