Great service– great food nice ambiance with very reasonable prices. Try the Taco’s Al Pastor. When I left California I thought I said goodbye to decent TAP’s for good, but Azteca’s stand up against most LA joints. Very reasonable prices given the quality of food. Also, unlike many restaurants in this area, Azteca’s staff, even over staff so you aren’t sitting there checking email waiting for food. This place is a hidden gem!

Mexican restaurant located in ocean springs. It’s tex mex, but it’s relatively decent. I tried the sopas, they were a little dry but the spicy mango flavored salsa they served with it was yum! I are they with my chips because it was so good. Those house salsa was pretty good, I’ve had better and I’ve had worse so nothing to complain about. There is a cool bar area in the middle of the restaurant, and large patio area out front.

Love this place. great service and great food! My only complaint is. whenbyou order to go, you have to pick up your food from the bar. Which is fine unless you have a car full of kids. So I only order to go if i am solo.

This is our go to place in the area. Always great service, hot, fresh and really tasty food. We sit in the bar area. Carla is amazing. She makes excellent drinks and knows how to treat customers. It’s always busy in her area when we go. I get the molcajete which is a heated rock filled with grilled chicken, grilled skirt steak, sausage, cheese, grilled cebollin(I don’t know in English but it’s an onion) and a grilled jalapeño. Comes with tortillas, rice, beans and guacamole. The beans are good. Have ground meat and sausage in them. Never tried the rice as I don’t like Mexican style rice. Husband gets the wings plain with chipotle salsa on the side. Very good. Everything here is excellent and even when they’re super busy, the food comes out quickly and hot. Chips and salsa to munch on while you wait too. The salsa tastes fresh and has a slightly strong cilantro flavor which I really like. Overall, best restaurant we’ve been to since moving to Mississippi 2 years ago.

This is a review for the newly opened Aztecas in Gulfport on Hwy 49. Beautiful building, layout, it is like being in Mexico. Concept is sports bar meets Mexican food. But no soccer just american football on the screens. Clean, well lite, attentive staff. Food is just mediocre, menu needs better explanation. The cheese quesadilla is $ 4.00. It is a 10″ tortilla folded in half. Next door at Taco Bell that same quesadilla is $ 1.00. This needs to be 2−10″ tortillas and served whole, like a sandwich or perhaps served open face on a 12″ tortilla, this is a ridiculous price for tiny portions. The chicken burrito uses rather tough chicken meat, please consider using chicken breast as you have Americanized the food so much. The chili rellano was beyond awful. It is basically a green pepper roasted, then covered with ground beef in a Velveeta cheese sauce. The menu should state«Chili Rellano, with beef sauce». Perhaps make a selection of beef or chicken for the chili rellano. No, the servers don’t need training, the menu needs to explain what this chili rellano really is! We did not try the drinks, they appear to be the fishbowl type, with generous portions. It’s just Mississippi, but the food doesn’t resemble Mexican food except slightly in appearance.

This place had great food a year ago ! Now a 1 star for a margarita only. The taco was fast food grade, i couldn’t find the chili rellano. Service was good, people were nice.

Great margarita’s and I’ve enjoyed almost everything I’ve had here. Suggested items are: Sangria Margarita’s, Crema de Pablano(soup), Molcajete(assortment of meat, sausage, chicken, shrimp and cheese served in a hot molcajete). These items never disappoint.

There are few time I ever give a 1 star this is one of those times. After eating here I found the service to be negligible at best, the food was just ok. I have never had carnitas that came in hard over-fried lumps of pork it was impossible to chew and had little flavor. I can honestly say I don’t plan on eating here any time ever again

The Premium Margarita is deliciousness! but quite pricey :-( The Shrimp Alambres is superb. And the tomatillo salsa that comes with it is spicy good! If you order it, make sure to ask for the tortillas to be put on the side, otherwise they soggy them up by serving them smothered by everything. I don’t like the salsa, it’s too tomato pasty. It’s edible, but not the best. The service has always been good and friendly. And the atmosphere and décor are both nice. There’s a full bar and a bunch of TVs around(if you’re into watching TV while eating)… Overall excellent restaurant.

One of the best authentic Mexican restaurants I’ve been to, and it has quite a large menu. The salsa was ok, not spectacular. The chicken mole enchiladas were delicious & huge. I was so stuffed(came w/rice & beans)! Good prices.

Kinda just sorta ok. Nothing special. Bastardized text-mex for the toothless masses of the south. I will say that it was nice to be able to speak Spanish with my server who looked shocked I new Spanish. Helps out when eating in a Mexican joint. Plus got free drinks. Any way. Had the mole pablano. Chicken was actually cooked well. The mole was meeh. Margaritas were good(free). Overall I would come back if I had to & then only to see my homie Jorge & to practice my Spanish.

I love tamales at a Mexican restaurant but these were tiny and definitely from a frozen bag if tamales. Not homemade at all. Salsa wasn’t great either. Wouldn’t go back.

This place was great! The food was good, very fresh and came to the table quickly! Margaritas are huge! A little more pricey than most Mexican food, but totally worth it if you’re looking for authentic Mexican food.

Good authentic Mexican dishes, Very fresh … The margaritas are very good also … Side note … One of the waiters was breaking his neck to stair at a my lady friend, it was ridiculous. He was creep, and made her feel uncomfortable and I wasn’t feeling that at all. Some staff training is needed.

This is a brand new tex-mex restaurant. So brand new they still had the«We’re open!» flags still flying and it was not ironic in the sense that it had been open so long they were frayed, dirty, and looked like they might have been open back during Reconstruction. As stated, brand new. The inside is very luxuriant and clean-looking for a tex-mex place. The best tex-mex always comes from the places politely called«a hole in the wall» however this one still looked like it had promise — especially since the first option of Aunt Jenny’s did not bear fruit, and there were people in the parking lot of this place and it appeared as if they were open to serve food in exchange for money. We took a table outside since it was pleasant weather. In so doing I was mostly surprised how many people were drinking alcohol on a Monday afternoon at 1pm. A lot. The table next to us of four people had at least three people that were clearly, obviously drunk and another that was a maybe, The table to our right had a huge pitcher brought out to them and they had already worked on it pretty nicely before even considering the menu. Monday morning/afternoons are a lot more laid back in Gautier than what I am used to, I suppose. The menu is brand new, in matching this location of the franchise. According to Unilocal there are others so unfortunately it was not the«authentic» local fare we had been expecting, but still, it had less franchises than Subway so I suppose we did as well as we could. And at least they did not recycle their dirty, salsa splattered menus from other locations — they got new ones here. The menu is pretty extensive and covers a variety of options. What I liked was the way the salsa and chips were handled. They bring out a plastic holder filled with salsa and two small plates. The container is just like the molded ceramic containers that you find at Japanese restaurants that hold the sake and you pour the sake from the communal container into your own sake container and have fun. So they have an Eastern twist on tex-mex: muy bien. I went with the taco salad, which actually looked nothing like what I am used to, but that’s the fun in traveling. I went with the fajita chicken for an extra charge as well as the guacamole. The fajita chicken was not as high-quality and tender as I had expected from the interior, that they meant serious business, it was more akin to Taco Bell quality at non-Taco Bell prices. There was very little lettuce, the taco shell was extremely stiff and brittle to the touch, and the onions were spartan for this being«fajita-ish.» The guacamole was not authentic guacamole, it is the sort of thing that Taco Bell squirts from a plastic container, as in there is no avocado, jalapeño, or likely anything authentic in it at all — it simply came from a container somewhere that was mass produced and marketed to high volume markets. The fajita materials were deeply covered in a sauce which was pleasant and coated the lettuce. All in all three stars is pretty fair for a lunch that is twice the price of the new Taco Bell«gourmet menu» bowl that now actually has real guacamole with avocado you can see, so it was half the quality, however they regained points for the cute salsa presentation that reminded me of sake bombing. There are a lot of Taco Bells along 90. So give this a try instead of one of the many Bells and see for yourself whether it is a plus or a minus over Taco Bell.
