Always a momentous occasion when we drive by the Two Story Outhouse in the metropolous of Gays, IL. This town fo 300 boasts one of the most bizarre, yet strangely facinating stops that reminds you both of yeste ryear as well as the«what’s grosser than gross?» jokes that made the 80’s a decade you’d like to forget. It’s located about 15 miles outside of Mattoon, or about 20 minutes from the interstate. The outhouse was built in 1872 and was attached to the general store of the town. The signage out front of the outhouse reports that two story outhouses were common place in the 1800’s and early 1900’s — it’s nice to live today! There are a number of articles from all over the USA that have been written about this spot and all will gThey pay tribute to a number of soldiers from the area in this small park as well and despite being next to an outhouse, it’s done very respectfully. The photo ops here are truly priceless and remind you that things aren’t so bad these days. The town also boast a large water tower bearing the town name and, in the past, had an old bike that sat atop a light pole that was riddled to have belonged to hitler(seriously, a sign read«Hitler’s bike»). This however has since gone missing. This stop provides a rare and unusual glimpse into the past and something that you’re not likely to see again and certainly won’t regret having a picture of! Worth the trip every time you drive near it. Great site for more info —

If you are going by Gays, IL then you have to take a moment to visit the historical 2-Story Outhouse. The Outhouse itself is locked up to keep unintelligent people for using it. There are pictures from papers posted outside of the Outhouse. It shows that there are two holes, one for the boys and one for the girls. You have to check this historical site out.
