I re-joined about a month ago and though I still like it, there have been some minor annoyances that probably warrant a star removal: — The number of guys taking moose juice has increased quite a bit. I’m not talking about Bugaboo Creek’s signature pineapple-infused vodka called Moose Juice; I’m referring to the type of juice that gives those taking it literally the musculature of a moose. — The lonely spot rack has the noisiest spotter bars(or whatever they call the things that keep you from dying while squatting) known to man. Do you like when your ears bleed? Try adjusting these things. — I was okay with it this winter, but after further consideration, $ 45 per month seems a little steep for Geneseo. I’m sure supply and demand has something to do with it, but I’d much rather be paying $ 30. Or $ 20. — I know they have air conditioning, but it’s still clammier than Jenny McCarthy’s hooha in there. There are a few individual fans for the cardio machines, and by «a few» I mean three. If three people want to be cool while doing cardio, and you’re the fourth, you’re screwed. This usually isn’t a problem unless it’s really hot(the past two straight weeks) and you’re there between 5pm and 7pm(me, almost every night). — The vending machine has been broken for a month. I never buy anything from the vending machine, but if I ran out of protein powder and wanted the grossest tasting MRP known to man(Myoplex) for some post-workout protein, I would wish they were fully operational. — Again, I don’t care about this, but if you’re looking for a gym with classes(ladies) look elsewhere. The only reason I like classes in my gym is because I’m a huge fan of spandex… on other people. — The Freemotion leg press machine is fine for leg presses, but terrible for calf raises. I still like coming here and the 24⁄7 aspect is fantastic, especially when I feel fat at 9pm and want to get a quick elliptical session in. The locker rooms and machines are always clean, there’s ample parking, the townies who go here in the summer are nice and willing to hurry a set so I can use the machines, and the cardio equipment is newish and hardly ever out of order. I also like the single rope attachment over by the cable crossover for doing«wood choppers» and the fact they have a Bosu Ball. Four stars isn’t bad. It’s just not five stars.
