Hotel was fine with good service. Restaurant was slow, and had a very limited menu. Not cheap considering very few choices.

My wife and I stayed here for three nights as part of our honeymoon. We arrived late, but were greeted warmly by the bellhop who knew we just got married. We were upgraded to a room with two fireplaces. The room was unbelievable. A complimentary bottle of wine and strawberries dipped in chocolate were in our refrigerator. We called and got a reservation in the onsite restaurant. We enjoyed a delicious candlelight meal and exceptional service. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a luxurious getaway! It may seem expensive, but you absolutely get what you pay for.

Been there twice now and absolutely the best place I have been. Food is out of this world. You would think high prices and small portion but not true. You will not go away hungry and the quality of the food is unbelievable. You have to go. The building and view is gorgeous as well,

We stopped here for a drink in between wine tasting and dinner. Although it’s not advertised we called ahead to ask if we’d be able to stop and have drinks on the patio. The patio is beautiful and overlooks a perfectly manicured and landscaped lawn with Seneca Lake visible at its edge. We were the only ones on the patio and our waitress seemed busy with tables inside. I’d recommend this only for a drink on the patio as the inside seemed a bit dated and semi-dreary.

A very nice place and certainly a good place to go with your significant other however I was not overly impressed. My wife ordered the Filet Mignon which she said was delicious. I had the strip steak which was a special and it was below average, in my opinion. The salads were very good as was the bread. The wine selection was good and many were local which was nice. It’s a beautiful piece of property with nice gardens and vistas. If my steak were better I’d probably have a different opinion as all of the other stuff was good.

I give a 4STAR for the Strawberry Soup… excellant and freshly prepared… Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail… Moscato d’Asti white wine. delicious and I generally like a dry red… Strawberry Shortcake with flavors of mint and orange bisquits… beyond delicious. and dense heavy whipped cream like I’ve never tasted. all prepared by pastry chef Heaven. Yes that’s appropriately her name. NOWTHELESSTHAN4STARS. Both my guest and I ordered the luncheon lobster dish… lobster was tough and this dish was made 2 days ago and microwaved today. Tons of bottled strips of sundried tomatoes… the dill cocktail sauce for the Shrimp Cocktail was bottled with dried dill that had no dill flavor. Hang your head Chef. This was disgusting and this was A Fine Dining. With tip.this outside Terrace luncheon cost $ 100…3 drinks.2 appetizer.entrée.and 1 dessert… We were encouraged to sit inside as swarming bees were out on Terrace. but we sat outside and bees were friendly. The sweet young waitress needs some training. served food to each of us by standing in between us. and even rested her tray on my shoulder while removing items to our table. dropped each of our four utinsils in a clump on the napkin. and walked away. All in All. sat on the grounds and savored this beautiful estate after our meal. Thinkin somebody needs to pass the baton on to a meticulous seemed to be bristling with many people. But will they come back? I hope so. This is a beautiful invention. and my first visit. and I have lived here most of my life. Oh .and the pool outdoors is 70 ft long and 8 ft deep at one end. I was dying. I love it. and it’s outside. double die.

My boyfriend and I debated about whether or not to give this place 2 or 3 stars. Since I’m typing, I won; but he would like it to be known that he feels it deserves 2 stars. Positives: the room is very nice with great décor, bed is comfy, grounds are beautiful, staff is very friendly and the location is perfect. Cons: the restaurant was very disappointing. I ordered the salmon entrée and it was smothered in so much sweet mustard that I could barely taste the fish. My guy ordered the fillet and it was covered in a creamy mustard sauce(What’s with the mustard? Mustard is for hotdogs, not for smothering on top of a $ 38 piece of steak). His steak was very overcooked so he graciously sent it back. The next piece he got, which he asked for without the sauce, was literally raw. It was purple inside and very over-salted. His side of mashed potatoes were too garlicky and very dry. I do have to say that the desserts were fine and our salads and bread were delicious. Plus, the wait staff was amazing and attentive. The one other negative I need to point out is the fact that we were out of our room all day, from 10 to 3:30 and when we got back, our room still hadn’t been cleaned or made up. I definitely wouldn’t return for a second visit, mostly because the food was such a disappointment.

Food is fantastic. Candle lit dinner is very romantic. Sits right on the lake so the location is great.

Just spent a night with my family at Geneva on the lake. Really nice suite. The restaurant was excellent, and Maryann was very helpful in the restaurant and parlor.

I absolutely LOVE this place and one day I shall own it! I truly enjoy everything this gem has to offer. The five stars is because it is a five star hotel in my eyes. I have a hospitality management background and know a good brand/product. It’s very peaceful and I think everyone coming to the finger lakes should enjoy. This place has a rich history and you can feel it when you walk through the doors. They are extremely peaceful beings and I love the Holiday cards they send as a thank you.

Unique hotel located right on the north west shore of the picturesque seneca lake. Each room has its own different feel and charm. And the staff bend over backwards to make sure you are comfortable. Still looking forward to enjoying their offerings at the restaurant. But if it’s anything like the rooms … We won’t be disappointed.

You may need the home equity loan for a few nights, but the setting and food are really worth it. Price product mismatch are often an issue with these places… Geneva is worth it.

Wonderful romantic atmosphere with classic piano music as you sit at a round table for dinner. Simply fabulous — awesome shrimp cocktail & steaks!

Beautiful suite… only wish we had more time to enjoy it. It was filled with antique furniture and Neoclassic period artwork. The view out of the sitting area windows was spectacular overlooking the lawn, pool and lake.. Attitudes a little stuffy from some employees and other tenants, although the wait staff at the restaurant were fabulous in the morning. The night front desk guy, although we checked in very late, was quick, friendly and attentive. We really appreciated that. The creepy religious statues spread around the lawn were a special treat. Only downside is that it was very expensive for what was delivered. I would very much have expected more that a continental breakfast for $ 500/night.

Jason, Abby and Mason make this place! The villa is nice but needs some refreshing. The bathroom especially is outdated. I wasn’t find of the Murphy bed in our suite, but it was a nice surprise to have a kitchenette. We expected coffee service, but the keurig in our kitchenette sufficed. The candlelight dinner was amazing! Our server was Abby and she was fantastic! She was professional, personable and very attentive. I had the filet and he had the lobster. We both had the shrimp cocktail with homemade doll cocktail sauce, minestrone soup and chocolate decadence for dessert. He did the wine pairing and Abby did a wonderful job with the wine selection! Everything we had was phenomenal! Kudos to the chef! Jason was also a gem! Upon checkin, he carried all of our belongings to our second floor room and was so personable! He even offered to wash our car! Such a great asset to Geneva! I should also mention that this is not the place for guests who cannot walk long distances or climb stairs. The hotel is set up like an old style apartment building, so there are plenty of stairs and separate entrances. We didn’t have a chance to use the pool because it the water temperature was very chilly, but the pool area is very pretty. They do a very nice job with the external esthetics… fresh lilacs on vases on the terrace, pots of flowers, ivy climbing the building, landscaping, etc. Not sure if we will stay here again though because the rooms are outdated and the bed wasn’t comfy.

If you like good service, don’t consider this place. It’s an idyllic location, to be sure. BUT, the service is terrible. We went for cocktail hour around 6:30 and there was no one to serve us. Finally we managed to find someone in the kitchen(dressed in a t-shirt and booty shorts) who brought us some wine. This in the same dining room in which they require guests to wear jackets. And we had to walk back into the kitchen to sign the tab because they never came back to check on us. Worst of all, we were kept up half the night with extremely noisy neighbors and night time renovations. After we complained, the desk simply stopped answering the phone — and this was before 10 pm. Find your lovely view elsewhere — will never go back.

My Syracuse friend and I wanted a special place to get away to for our annual mutual birthday celebration. We’d heard about Geneva on the Lake and made reservations. What a happy choice! Bill Schicklel was the ultimate host, telling us about his family’s history with the place, the gardens, the wonderful dinner bluegrass group Rebecca Colleen and the Chore Boys. We dined well — dinner and breakfast — took the half-hour Seneca Lake boat tour, lazed at the pool, read the NY Times at our leisure, enjoyed the Stickley furniture throughout and generally just… relaxed. This is a lovely place with simple elegance and an easy pace. Highly recommended!

Grounds are pretty, great to stroll and read a book, 4 star. We stayed in the 2 bedroom townhouses, which if you enjoy claustrophobic 1970s living, is perfect. I can see how they were awesome 40 years ago, but seriously need updated for the price. 2 people is nice, 4 no way. The entire hotel seems similar, charging 5 star prices for what was 5 star 40 years ago. Grandmas aged accommodations don’t demand 2013 pricing. Another case of great website photography fooling you into thinking its much more than it is. They have bikes, but no trails, have to ride far on the road to get to them. Pool isn’t heated. The town stinks too, no where quaint to walk, no shops, etc. Room service was the standard over priced service charge built In, but then they add 15 $ PER person on TOP of everything else, thats just insulting to pay an extra 100 $ for 4 people in surcharges. Stay one night at the most here. I’d give 2.5 stars overall. No offense, if you’ve seen one winery you’ve seen them all, this isn’t Napa. Use your money in Montréal or upstate NY.

great place. beautiful back patio and exquisite grounds that go down towards Seneca lake where you can sit in a comfortable Adirondack chair and just gaze over the lake. The restaurant had very good breakfast and lunches. We didn’t try the dinners. One problem is that there are no elevators if one is handicapped or infirm. A complimentary pontoon ride is included along with a nice and wine and cheese party.

The rooms are old but nice and spacious. Our room had a full kitchen with a whirlpool bathtub. Granted everything was slanted up or down I was tempted to buy a roll or quarters simply to entertain myself on which room was tilted the most but I digress. The overall experiance although pricey was a nice little get away. We had a bottle of wine in our room which was very good it was a cheap 8.99 bottle of some cayuga lake stuff but because of that we still to this day buy a bottle or two for home. The staff was very friendly and attentive. the food was OUTOFTHISWORLD very very good 5⁄5 for the food 4.5÷5 for the room only because we had a climate control issue while we stayed here. We will return in the future.
