Top Notch. Always responds quickly. Had an incident a few years back with a kid getting into cars through the neighborhood @ 3AM. Wife called and they were 3 cars there before I could get downstairs and outside. Not sure why Georgetown/Williamson County cops get a bad rep. many say they’ll pull you over for everything. Well, I’ll say it like this. If you think they’re too strict, which I don’t think they are, it’s a good thing. Just keeps the bad seeds out, Plus, if you aren’t doing anything wrong, you shouldn’t have anything to worry about!

This is a great example of our local officers. I have been one of the many caught going over the speed limit. The Officer was very kind, professional and maybe it was because he saw that I am an old lady who was polite and did not even challenge his judgement that I was 10 miles over the limit on a frontage road. He could see from his computer that I have an exemplary driver record. He gave me just a warning, that since then, I certainly am more aware of my speed. He also advised me that my brake light was not working(a on and off wiring probem for years). This encouraging advise from him was just what finally made me get that problem fixed once and for all. So, I do agree that we have highly trained men and women who every time they stop a car, put their lives at risk. How would you feel about walking into a dark alley in the bad part of Austin at night? That is how it feels to walk up to a vehicle and not know if that driver may have a gun. My compliments to all at Georgetown Police force.

So my kid has been yammering on and on for a couple of weeks how he wanted to meet an officer who stops bad guys… Ok, fine. I take him and little brother into the Police Station next to the library, and the people at the front desk were very friendly to them. I explained the situation, and asked if they had anyone hanging around, not busy, that might like to come out for a moment and say hi. One officer was already out of uniform, and probably on his way home, but stopped on his way out to give them each a badge shaped sticker. Then an officer in uniform came out, introduced himself, asked if they were thinking of being policemen when they grow up, not a whole lot of conversation you can get out of a preschooler and a toddler, but he did his best. And of course the jumping up and down started when he asked, with a big grin, «Would you guys like to see my police car?» Pay attention, folks. These guys care.
