With a name like J W Pickles & Friends, this place could not be passed up! My first visit was on the way to Ocean City for the Labor Day weekend. The place is designed to look like an old western saloon. Floors are wooden, entrance to a hotel in one corner, singing doors to the bar area in another spot… it’s really quite funny. The place has never been very busy the three times I’ve been, but the service and food has surprisingly been purty darn swell! And a place that has Shiner Bock on tap is always good with me! mmm There are always lunch and dinner specials and it seems that various nights of the week karaōke and dancing are hosted. There’s a good mix of food, from fish to steak entrees, sandwiches of all types to burgers. I highly recommend the open face turkey sandwich! Loaded with tender pieces of turkey smothered in gravy atop two large pieces of bread and accompanied by mashed potatoes and another side of your choosing. Costs under $ 10 and leaves you totally satisfied! Comfort food at its best I tell ya! The freshly baked homemade bread they serve up is really awesome! A whole round uncut loaf served piping hot… ahhh perfect crunchy outside and soft doughy inside. The bread alone is worth the trip! Next time you head to the Easter Shore and you find yourself on Rt 113 south of Rt 404, check out J W Pickles & Friends… I’m his newest pal!
