Flounder sandwich was all bun and no fish. Service wasn’t good and it wasn’t busy. They overcharged our credit card and had to re-swipe it.

We stopped by for a very late lunch and enjoyed eating on the water. Food and service were excellent!

I am writing this review after I found out the store burned down this morning. A very sad thing for one of the best restaurants to move into Front Street. Limpin’ Janes Old South Eatery is 100% South Carolina Organic Certified. As a matter of fact when we were their we heard the owner telling a magazine«If you don’t believe it you can come to my farm and I will show you.» The menu features locally sourced chicken, fish, and beef as well as locally grown vegetables. I had the beer marinated chicken sandwich with collard greens as my side and she had a fish plate that was the catch of the day. The chicken sandwich was fantastic, juicy, and the fresh kale really was a nice touch with a nice crunch. The collards were fantastic as well. It takes a lot for me to like collards, even though I always try new ones I do not always like them. Her fish was very good, I am not a fish guy but I could have eaten it. Did I mention the craft beer on tap? Stone and Victory are always a plus!

Walking in, I can tell I am going to love it here. The ambience is totally my scene. Dark, broody, with an eclectic music selection like Ella Fitzgerald and June Carter Cash. There is a small bar at the front serving local beers, a dramatic stained glass door for the men’s room, and a small porch/bar area on the back overlooking the water. I ordered the oyster po’boy. Not a ton of oysters, minus, but the bread and sauce were both very good, plus. I got the grits on the side which were unremarkable but good. A little lumpy. The service was brusque which was kinda ridiculous since there were only a few people there. Overall though, I liked it and would recommend it. Definitely not a tourist trap, felt like there were a bunch of locals there.

We wandered in here late one evening when passing through Georgetown for the night, so it was too late to eat(kitchen was closed) and we just relaxed on the back deck and enjoyed the live music. What a great place! Not only is the location fantastic, but the owners and staff were friendly and helpful, the music was fun, and everyone was having a good time. Seemed a like a pretty local scene– everyone seemed to know each other, but were very welcoming. Drink prices were reasonable as well. If we find ourselves back in Georgetown in the future, we’ll be sure to stop in again(and hopefully eat some food next time!).

This place was a giant waste of time. We ordered the country fried steak. You could tell that it was frozen. The gravy was mediocre at best. The fries were improperly made home fries which were greasy and revolting. Don’t waste your time. Cracker barrel has better food for cheaper prices.

Delicious food knowledgeable server, beautiful view. Our first visit to Georgetown, this was one of the only restaurants open on the wharf on Sunday evening, it far exceeded our expectations. The artist who exhibits at the restaurant invited us on from the boardwalk. We received great suggestions from the server and had the crab & clam cakes plus the Low Country Combo with oyster appetizers. Fresh, clever, delicious food. The BEST tartar sauce I’ve ever tasted. Pair with the suggested Big Fire Pinot Grigio. Would definitely come back!

Eclectic little place with great food and atmosphere. Can be a little on the pricey side, especially at dinner. Worth the trip in to try some of their food and drinks though!

We decided to make the trip to Georgetown(a first for me) for this place. I am a vegetarian and they have a veggie specific menu in addition to their regular menu. Wow — we were so disappointed. We were there at 6PM on a Saturday night and there was absolutely no one in there. One positive — our server was super friendly and accommodating. My vegan burger was the cheapest thing on their veggie menu($ 12.50). It was housemade and not too bad. The fries were not fresh though. For the record — the tofu and veggie plates were $ 17. Are you kidding me??? My boyfriend got the blue plate special with country fried steak, corn on the cob and fries. The only thing he enjoyed was the corn. The country fried steak tasted like nothing. He compared it to cafeteria food. I had high hopes but was let down. Not worth the money spent.

We ordered the blue plate special with my mother-in-law getting the country fried steak(excellent), hubby getting the Vermonter(also very good) and me getting the pork and gravy(not so good-the meat was dry and the gravy wasn’t very appetizing). We also got the fresh veggies which was kale which had way too much garlic(and I’m usually a garlic lover). Perhaps they had an off day. They had local beer on tap which was excellent and the service was wonderful.

I enjoyed an excellent meal in this lovely spot on the harborwalk. It is a great atmosphere with understated nautical décor, exposed brick and local artwork. The food was excellent, with the best part of my blue plate special being the vegetable sides. The waitstaff was friendly, helpful and prompt.

On the High Side of Average — Has Potential. Walking in one immediately stumbles into the men’s toilet — what an odd reception structure! We were never greeted so we began making our way rather timidly to the patio on the boardwalk when a sullen fellow intercepted us and directed us to a sticky surfaced booth since a large(inference — important) party had the porch reserved. Early lunch: Getting past the fellow who clearly found his job as a wait person beneath him, we must state the food was notable. The Vermonter, a grilled ham sandwich with apple, cheddar cheese and sweet mustard, was very tasty. My husband ordered the LJ Burger and concluded, «It was good.» We had started our lunch with the fried pickles and enjoyed them so much we toyed with the idea of ordering a second serving. The choices of sides were chalked on an irregular chunk of slate mounted on the wall — not the usual black board. Local artists were displayed throughout lending to the cozy-yet-waterfront-hip décor. Afterwards, to walk off the meal, slip out the back porch and stroll the boardwalk. Unique food and pleasant ambiance certainly make this restaurant worth consideration if you find yourself in Georgetown. Date of Visit: 29Mar2012 PS The important party of 8 – 10 did show slightly after noon.

My Husband and I just recently moved to Georgetown and was referred to this restaurant by a local organic farmer. The restaurant is set in a beautiful location backing to a dock and the water. The food is all local, fresh and delicious! The owners are very gracious and the service is always awesome. The food is eclectic with a southern flare. The chicken fried steak is delicious as well as the crab and scallop cakes. We will be frequenting this place a a lot!
