Loved it! This is a great place to walk around a pretty farm, pet and feed horses, and hear interesting stories about their racing backgrounds. Our tour guide was very nice and knowledgeable and gave us plenty of time with each horse. He had a bucket of carrots to feed the horses, but you can actually bring your own so you can feed them as much as you would like. Make a reservation before you go!

What a great place to come see your horse if you have kids. It’s really interactive with me you know shown kids about horses and teaching them proper way of being around a horse and even feeding the horse. They let you pet the horses that were champions, who rode in many different races or even still active now. Our tour guide really explained a lot about the horses and the different styles of horses. The scenery around here was just to die for also as being someone who takes photos a lot. It was nice to bring my niece here just to look at the horses even though she kept trying to ride them. Lol but overall I will say the experience was great just very knowledgeable very fulfilling and just down right fun. I will say the only thing I would change a little bit is how they do the tours because I felt like we interact with more people who board the horses there then we did seeing the horses. It was nice to walk around but when you have a car coming back and forth so they can get to the horses kind of ruins the experience when you have to step off the side constantly. I think an easy fix to that would’ve been to put a fence up where are you walked through to see the horses and you don’t have to worry about the traffic of cars. I also believe they should do a little bit more with the property like maybe a restaurant or like a hotel where you can stay overnight and just enjoy the scenery.

It was a wonderful day on the farm for hubby and I. We are not familiar with the horses’ names or their racing pasts. What we do know is that they are now finally living the life of a happy horse. With no expectations, no racing, no worries, these horses are living out their elder years here on the farm. They receive visits from race fans and animal lovers alike. The guides know all of their stories and are never tired of telling the stories. If you want to, you can give the horses carrot slices. The guides will point out the not so friendly horses to you. After living a life of the race horse and then that of a breeding stallion, it is inevitable that many of these horses are not adoptable as they have bad temper and some will bite. But there are others that will come up, tilt their heads and start begging for carrots. I find them irresistible and adorable. Although I am quite conflicted on the subject of horse racing, I still felt the need to visit the horses at Old Friends. Although I realize this farm only holds a very small portion of retired race horses, but for the sake of the horses I still feel that farms like this is needed and we do need to visit them, support them and spread the news about them. Donations are accepted but not required for the tour.

What a wonderful place! Old Friends is a horse farm for retired thoroughbred horses. I’m not a racing fan but recognized many of the horses’ names. You get to meet many of the horses and hear about their career and how they came to be rescued. You can also feed and pet the horses. There is no fee for this attraction but they do ask for a donation if you are able to. The staff here is very committed and passionate about their work. My son enjoyed seeing the horses but I’m not sure if this will hold the attention of most young children. This is not a petting zoo and the pace of the tour is methodical. Highly recommended — Bring appropriate footwear.
