Paws For Effect

Took my dog here for the first time, as we just relocated here. The staff is amazing and my dog looks the best she has ever looked. Other groomers I took her to don’t compare to this !

I discovered Paws for Effect over 10 years ago when I took my Persian cat to Petsmart to get groomed. I was called to come pick up my cat who was only half shaved. He had bitten the groomer and was left looking ridiculous and the groomer had to go to the ER. I understood that they couldn’t continue grooming a cat they couldn’t control and I didn’t know what to do. I felt terrible about what happened to the other groomer and was reluctant to take him somewhere else.
I had very recently moved to Georgetown and I didn’t know anyone or any of the local places. I lived near Paws for Effect and called them, hoping they groomed cats, which it turned out they did! Feeling very relieved, I took my cat in there and explained he had bitten the groomer at Petsmart. They explained they were experienced with cats and would use 2 groomers to keep the cat from biting. They did a great job with my cat and he returned home looking fabulous.
After that great experience, we started taking our terrier there regularly over the last 10 years. He is now very old and suffers from arthritis, bad knees, and a neck issue, so he has to be groomed with care. He has always come home happy, looking beautiful, and without any issues physically, which is not easy with all of his ailments.
We rescued another terrier who gets very grouchy if you try to brush her or touch places she deems off limits. I took her to Paws for Effect 2 years ago and warned them that she can be grouchy. They have been grooming her regularly ever since and she never gives them any trouble.
I have been amazed at their ability to develop a rapport with our pets. Our terriers get a warm greeting every time they go there and the staff always remember them. They take good care of our pets when they are there.
I absolutely love this place. They have groomed many of our pets (cats and dogs) over the years, most of which are not with us anymore, unfortunately.
I feel their prices are very reasonable. They only accept checks or cash, so that threw me off a few times because I forgot to bring my checkbook.
I highly recommend this place. They are awesome.
