Pretty Nails

Went to pretty nails yesterday for a mani and gel nails. A man did my nails. I left very disappointed. He used a clear substance when he started that he kept smelling, I asked if something was wrong, while I didn’t fully understand his explanation, I smelled it myself. It smelled like a soured sponge. I said I think it’s bad, he shook his head yes and continued. The tools they used were not sterile. My nails were filed crookedly. Polish is on my skin, and the skin around and under my nails are glued to my nails. I went with a friend, her nails look great. I however will not go back.

I get gel fill in and spa pedicures when I go to nail salons. My natural nails are very thin, so I’m kind of a big baby when it comes to the drill from fill ins. I always let the nail tech know this up front so they hopefully don’t bear down with the drill in one spot which can give a burning sensation. So because of this, my primary concern and rating result is based on whether or not it hurts.
I’m pleased to report that the nail tech giggled when I told him I was a baby, and he understood. He didn’t hurt me at all and did quality work.
The spa pedicure was very nice and relaxing. He’s doing that great citrus smelling scrub thing now and the massage feels great!
The facilities are nice and clean and the prices are reasonable. They seem to be adequately staffed for the time of day and season. I didn’t have to wait at all and there were other customers in the place.
They are open in Sunday’s as well, so if I still lived in the area this would be a big plus for me (I’m visiting family.)
The only down-​side so far is there is no TV in the manicure area. I won’t reduce the rating because of it, since they were at least playing popular music on the radio. However, sitting in a chair for an hour it’s nice to watch sports (Monday Night Football for example).
