Stopped in for lunch. Great atmosphere, owner was at the counter taking care of the customers. Having not eaten there before, I went with the Club sandwich. It was really good, the bacon was cooked for the sandwich & the veggies were fresh. Overall great experience, will be going there again!

I live a few blocks away and I have been to this restaurant many, many times. This was the first time under the new owners and it will be the last. I ordered the Ruben and my fiancé ordered an off menu sandwich with 3 meats and cheese, which was awesome. But, the Ruben was made on stale multigrain bread and with warm salad dressing, and was almost inedible. I have never returned a plate at a restaurant, but I did this time. I did it nicely and the sever kindly offered to replace it, but I respectfully declined. She did, however, take it off my bill. So all was well, right? No. The owner, and cook that day, came out of the kitchen and gave me the stare down. He never said a word to me, but stared at me for a few minutes and even whispered something to the server while looking at me. It was so awkward that we left, instead of staying for the excellent selection of beer and the band that was coming on. I understand that people make mistakes and restaurants can have off days. Given that Roots has many reviews and a local reputaion of inconsistent service and food, you’d think the owner would try harder to handle respectful complaints with more dignity and professionalism. His server handled it better than he did on this day. The server and the awesome off menu sandwich gives this experience two stars.

Fun environment, good food! Their vinaigrette is delicious. Didn’t drink any, but they seem to have a good beer selection. Love that their food is all fresh, and made in-house.

Great place for the family to hang on Tuesday nights. Enjoy karaōke! It’s a blast. It feels like a family setting, Like a huge living room. Food looks wonderful! Kids had fun. Games upstairs.

This place has a great atmosphere and vibe. The beer selection is small but stein and the food is great! Games really available to hang out with family or friends.

Never been here before so decided to try it out, I got a Pizza, it was alright, the pizza just went limp as soon as it was picked up, very greasy, and definately overpriced, was expecting a way bigger pizza. Stood in at the counter for a good 10 minutes before someone from the back noticed I was standing there, the guy bartending was too busy talking to his friends about sports to even notice I was there or to take my order. Won’t be coming back, but like the idea. Would of been more satisfied with a 5 dollar Little Ceasars pizza…

This is pretty terrible. Waited in line for 10 mins there are only 12 people here. Only one person at the register. Been waiting for 20 mins for a salad and two tacos. Still have not got our order. We’re on our lunch break will not be back here again. Pretty poor slow paced service. No sense of urgency.

Great food. We were starving after a bike ride. Little over priced, but left happy. Pizza was great and so was the salad. Thanks!

What a cool little spot on the square in lovely Georgetown, Texas! Arriving in town for a wedding in Austin, my wife and I met her sister and our niece at Roots Bistro for a quick lunch. They offer a nice variety of salads, sandwiches and homemade pizzas as well as a soup of the day. They also offer a nice variety of draft and bottled beers along with a decent wine list. I opted for the Reuben sandwich, one of my all time favorites. Served on toasted marbled rye with a nice portion of corned beef, coleslaw, swiss cheese and dressing, the sandwich really hit the spot. I was in a rather foul mood after a ridiculous drive down I-35 from DFW(those of you who have done it know what I’m talking about) so my wife encouraged me to have a glass of wine to take the edge off. I chose their pinot grigio — I don’t recall the vintage, but it did the trick. Upon leaving Roots Bistro, my tummy was full and my attitude was in proper alignment with the coming nuptial celebration. I look forward to returning.

Great Pizza and a good selection of beers. Open mic night is fun too! Our first time to go but we will certainly go back.

Frequented alot but not so much now. They lost key people who truly knew what great customer service was. If we are spending our money we should at least be able to be served fully and not be told to get your own condiments and silverware. Food is good… just could pay closer attention to customer service.

Don’t expect fast service, but wow! The pizza is great, such great dough! Get the pizza! Just don’t be in a hurry when you go there. It is located in the really quaint downtown Georgetown.

My husband and I were traveling back to the DFW area after spending time in Austin — attending a concert and hanging with our two dogs. Our criteria for lunch on a Saturday afternoon: dog friendly patio(with shade — it was 98*F), better than average food, not too far from I35, and definitely not a chain restaurant. Success on all fronts! Waitstaff was super friendly — they brought water for the dogs and ever offered to bring them some bread to snack on. I had the best BLT I’ve ever had and my husband also loved his breakfast tacos. Great experience. We will definitely be back.

If you are going to let a camera crew film a commercial in your restaurant and ignore ‘regular’ patrons in the process, then you should probably just shut down for the day. Waiting over half an hour for two breakfast tacos(that came without the ingredients ordered) was a tad annoying. Food was decent when it finally arrived. On the expensive side, as well. 9.50 for a sandwich with no meat? That was with free water.

Best place ever for personal service and great beer along with a delicious meal! Thursday nights are pint nights, and they bring in some tasty brews. Ping pong table upstairs, bar and stage down, plus a back patio! Happy hour is 3−7… $ 1 off. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Sad lunch experience. Did not have lettuce for salads(what?). Lunch service was very poor. Took over 45 minutes to get food. Don’t bother coming here. Food was awful! Decided to order the breakfast tacos and breakfast pizza(served till 2 pm), can’t go wrong with that right? Wrong 45 minutes later after the rest of my group meal came, they said, «Oh we have no eggs, do you want to order something else?» WHAT!!! Others in my group sandwiches were either very dry meat or it looked like the beef or pork was nuke in a microwave, very dry and brittle. Georgetown, don’t waste you time and money on this place.

Stop here! Great place to rest your feet and get out of the heat while walking around the square. Staff is very nice, the food is made with care and the selection of beer ain’t half bad. Didn’t wait long at all for our food, and there is ping pong upstairs. The only recommendation I would have for the business would be to maybe keep some board games or cards around so people can hang out longer!

Got take out from Roots with coworkers yesterday. My Cabo Cobb salad was anemic with almost no bacon or tomato and half of the lettuce was black and slimey. I had meetings for the next 3 hours, so I ate what appeared to be edible(the chicken and a few other scant vegetables) and went about the rest of my work day starving. That wasn’t the worst part of the experience. The worst part was the stomach issues later that night and today. I have barely been able to hold down food since lunch yesterday and I am still starving. This tale of poor food quality control is not isolated unfortunately. Another group of coworkers ate here and one of them found a hair in their food. The staff initially balked at remaking her food until she insisted. Stick to booze and live music. You guys have no business serving food. Avoid this place unless it is for drinks or music(and even then there are better drink locations on the square).

Come on! I’m still hungry! I spent 30 bucks on two small pizzas, a beer and a water! They really ought to tell you that their small pizza is actually an individual pan sized. I paid 12.00 for a pizza with what was called, The Kitchen Sink. Unfortunately I was missing all of the dishes. On top of that we waited 45 minutes for our food! We stopped somewhere to eat on the way home. That makes no sense? After we just had dinner. Epic fail. I want my money back!

A really great spot for a place to walk in, feel relaxed, and enjoy the music. The food menu isn’t big and the beer menu is nicely adequate, but what I appreciate here is the LIVE music and the atmosphere with a comfortable décor. I came here for a drink and a bite to eat during happy hour on a Saturday and happened to see a musician by the name of Billy Gilbert from the Houston/League City, Texas area playing. I really enjoyed his music and it fit well with everyone there relaxing as well. While here I ordered the Reuben and a nice chilled Hefeweisen on a warm Texas evening. The beer was $ 2.50 at Happy Hour? WHAT?! So naturally, I ordered more… the sandwich was a great companion as well. The Reuben had a pannini pressed crust that was thick and crunchy while the warm kraut and meat met your taste buds in delight. The sandwich came with a side of basic potato chips, but that’s okay. it’s pub food and they focus on the other things. While here I saw many other people order salads and pizzas. those are some options that I think I will try next time. Yes, NEXT time. because I hope to come back soon. Overall, the place has charm and is welcoming. I saw many people come and go at the front door, but I think it was because they just wanted to see what it was all about inside. It was just that attractive to draw their interests. with the music playing and the décor. I saw ages of all types here, young and old, all enjoying the moment. I saw people come in for the beer, order their food«to go» and continue strolling the square… Root’s is a nice place to beat the heat, enjoy a small town clean pub feel, and simply feel comfortable while you are in the area. The food is good and basic for a pub and the LIVE music of Billy Gilbert was SPOTON as he drew applause after each song. Roots is a nice place. I liked it on the first visit and I will be back when I am in the area. *closing note* It seems that Billy Gilbert played for his«tips». and though he did get some from the crowd in attendance… I would ask Root’s bring him back and pay him for a full night’s set, because I know he could pull it off for their crowds.(but that’s just my own personal closing note.) Thank you Roots for the Happy Hour deals and thank you Billy Gilbert for some good music for my Saturday night.
