Friendly staff but no gait analysis was even offered. Even as a beginner I know this is a no-no. He just looked at me standing in my old sneakers and told me what he would suggest ordering for me(very small selection). I got the impression that he didn’t think I was going to be spending any $$ and the entire exchange was just a bit awkward. I ended up leaving and driving into Austin to Texas Running Company where I received a gait analysis on a video screen and got fitted for 2 pairs of running shoes. I would be willing to give Runtex another shot though.

Oh my goodness! Josh at Runtex is amazing. I have never ran in my life, so I needed lots of help:) He studied the way I ran, walked, stood, and my feet to ensure the perfect shoe for me:) Not only did he talk to me about my shoe, he instructed me in a few stretches, run tips, and was very encouraging. He is a certified trainer, so he really knew his stuff! I prices are very reasonable as well. FYI, he is offering free core/training classes during the week, check it out!

Great experience at Run Tex today. I have always been hesitant because I assumed they would be overpriced. Not the case at all. They were right in line with any other retailer, on-line or otherwise. In addition, they went to painstaking efforts to ensure I got into the right shoe for my running style. The gentleman that helped me exhausted every option before we settled on the right shoe. To top it off, without even asking for one they offered me a military discount. Wonderful experience — they have a customer for life.

RunTex is in Georgetown! I was pleasantly surprised to find that RunTex has opened a store just off the main square. It isn’t fully equipped as of yet but there is a small selection of clothes and shoes. They will be expanding soon and are just waiting on another space to be finished out for a full opening. The nice thing is that they are able to have anything that you would normally get downtown shipped up to the Georgetown store. I needed a new Fuel Belt which they didn’t have at the store but had it delivered the next day; fantastic! Love the fact that even though I enjoy going to RunTex down in Austin, I can still pick up anything I need in a hurry at this store. Please give them a look and tell them Larry sent you!
