This is where progress goes to die. I hate to hate on Sam’s, because it didn’t do anything wrong to me, but I would be very very hesitant to recommend it to my friends unless they just really really want to try something different and old-timey. Just go to the Waffle House instead.

I grew up in georgetown and I love this place. People may not like the smoking atmosphere and that is the only reason I do eat here with my family(Wife and 3 yr old). I would often go here after a «big game» back in 1999 – 2002. I love the food for the price and the service I receive. They ban the smoking, I am a 5 star

They don’t seem to like outsiders. Clannish. Sarcastically friendly. Strange problems with the order. Food is average home made fare. Edible, not really good. Would never go back. Not a chance.

We love Sams. It’s where a lot of the horse people gather for good food, good price and good service. It’s got a kind of hole in the wall appearance but you won’t be disappointed!

Great little restaurant off Gtown Road. They have serve comfort food at its finest. You will get fast friendly service and called sugar a lot. I have to admit it is the first place I have ever ate where they asked me if I needed gravy with my french fries. I hesitated at first, but glad I got it. It was so good. Be aware they don’t have a lot of fancy décor or fluff. This is just a dive joint with great food and service. Stop in and enjoy.

With all the cigarette smoke, you’d think it was a bar instead of a restaurant. I didn’t event think they allowed smoking in restaurants in 2013. They advertise their beliefs more than their menu. Faith sayings in the restaurant and old Romney stickers in the window. Do yourself a favor and go to the Red State BBQ one block away.

As we pulled up for dinner, the parking lot was full so that was a good sign. It is just over the Fayette County line and in Scott County. When we walked in we were surprised by the smell or cigarette smell but once we sat at the far side of the restaurant we weren’t bothered by the smell from there… a glass or plexiglas wall separate the two areas. The crowd: consisted of locals who obviously frequent there. I won’t say much more than that… The food: Any place that offers 3 sides with an entrée gets an extra star from me. I ordered the strip steak and it was excellent. My husband had the sautéed fried chicken livers and bean soup and said that they were excellent too. Between the two of us we ordered 8 dinner items(and to go boxes) and every single item was piping hot… I was very impressed by that. The prices: the lowest that I’ve ever seen for that amount of food. Apparently they have an additional daily menu that has just a few items in addition to the regular menu. The desserts consisted of slices of pies for under $ 3.00 each. I got the chocolate meringue and husband got peanut butter and chocolate. They said that they’re made fresh daily… they were excellent. The only reason that I didn’t give 5 stars is the décor, chairs and tables are very outdated… it didn’t affect the food though so we will be returning.

great hole in the wall restaurant that is frequented by locals. went here based on the reviews on google. the portions are generous, food quality is pretty good, prices are low. they serve good old fashioned american diner fair. overall a great value.

I ate here for the first time when I was home in Lexington over Thanksgiving break. We went here for breakfast after a night of drinking and it was the perfect way to reboot for the day ahead. The food was cheap and tasty. I got fried pickles, fried mushrooms, and a pimento cheese sandwich, all of which were simple and delicious. This place isn’t necessarily the healthiest dining establishment, but it is really great at what it does. Friendly staff.

When I moved to Kentucky, I went looking for a good local diner and thankfully I did not have to look far. Well situated right at the county line between Fayette and Scott along Georgetown/Lexington Rd, Sam’s is a wonderful little place that always is busy, but rarely has a wait. I’ve tried something new every time that I’ve gone to Sam’s and have been happy with every order. Portions are good sized with just about everything, and on Friday’s I believe they still have an all you can eat fish fry. My brother in law swears by their fried bologna sandwich. The only complaint that I can give is that you sometimes need to stay on top of the wait staff, as they can get busy and forget about refilling your drinks, or forget to bring out your fries(happened once). Overall, it’s a great little restaurant and I’m always happy to go back.
