Sweet Matriarch Bakery

What a great find! The cupcakes were great but the cake was even better! All local and organic ingredients, perfectly sweetened. We are looking forward to getting another cake on my birthday:)

Update, got a Blueberry topped cake for my Birthday:) didn’t think it would get better than the first cake but it was even better than expected!

I am thoroughly impressed with everything about this establishment. As soon as you walk in the bakery you feel like you’re in your grandmother’s kitchen; the nostalgia from decades past wraps its arms around you while the aroma of fresh-​baked goodness beckons you forward. There is a beautiful array of baked goods in the nicely lit case, a tempting selection from the coffee bar and lunch is also available. I needed a birthday cake, and the owner (Tia) was not only patient with my indecisiveness, but offered some wonderful ideas to make my son’s cake special. When I picked the cake up, it was a piece of art! Surely a cake that looked this good couldn’t be possibly be as delicious. But, oh YES! It was the most flavorful and moist cake I’ve ever eaten! I will NEVER go to another bakery for a birthday cake again. This little shop in Georgetown, Kentucky is the «Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills» of the state. Go in for a cupcake and you’ll understand my excitement. LOVE LOVE LOVE at first bite!

I was excited to see the Sweet Matriarch Bakery has moved into the old Lock & Key location. They use natural, organic ingredients and make delicious muffins. I tried the chocolate chip muffin and it was heaven. The coffee selection is impressive. The current hours are 9 – 6 Monday — Friday and Saturday 9 – 4.
The owner was really nice and the sit down area was very cute. Lunch selections will be coming in the spring. It’s a great place to order a cake. They also have delicious sounding cupcakes and cookies. I’m excited to see what they do with the new space. Now I have a new place to go and write!
