These guys have excellent bbq, but I’m wondering if they are closed. The past few days when I called no answer.

I can’t lie. The food is 4 stars but they are always closed during the times you want them. Big football game? Closed. Sunday night before a holiday Monday? Closed. Love their food but wished they could be as reliable as other takeouts, they would make so much more $$$ surely if they opened on those days when you wish you didn’t have to cook!

It’s very good when the owners are taking care of the restaurant. They make sure food looks good to go and give and they are also very sweet. However, last night they were not thwrw, the service was bad, my wings were raw from the inside, definitely not a good one.

Got the pulled pork sandwich; generous portion and meat was tender however it was tasteless. I think they forgot to season the pork. I love coleslaw and was disappointed that it was full of chopped red onion; couldn’t touch that. I’ll stick with Famous Dave’s.

Ehhhhhh I’m not sure what to make of this place to be honest! Passing through around lunch time, saw it and decided to give it and try. It was weird as it was right in the heart of the lunch rush and there was nobody to be seen! Ehhh they are kind off the beaten path… I ordered the heart attack sandwich and it was ll I could do to eat the cheesy bacon fried off the top of it! Pretty good though! The pulled pork was good and the sausage was also pretty good! It’ll be dinner later! Maybe they’d do better if they were better located? The service was great the guy behind the counter was really friendly and helpful! Sadly though I don’t think I’d go outta my way to go back! If I was close maybe… but not far out of the way! Lots of choices in the area!

Just visited Big Daddy’s new roadside location on Frederick Road. The Angus Brisket Sandwich was delicious! I’ll be back again soon.

Good food at a good price. I like that it’s near my office. Yes, no smoker but I also don’t like to smell like a BBQ after lunch. Give it a try.

I was pleasantly surprised when I ordered seasoned shrimp and ½ rack of ribs for the first time from here. I was a little skeptical because of some of the other reviews. I was blown away in the best way. The food was absolutely delicious! I even ate the coleslaw that accompanied the food. And I NEVEREVER eat coleslaw. But from here I ate every last bite. I’m very happy I decided to give big daddy’s a try!

Heard about this place from a friend. I ordered out because my husband wanted to stay home and watch his show. I ordered the crab cakes and he ordered the texas heart attack. We both were very surprised!!! It was incredible! I loved the potato salad, the loaded baked potatoes, the mac and cheese and just about everything we ordered. It would have gotten a 5 star if they would have gotten to my house faster. It took almost an hour to get to me but it was totally worth it. Will be eating there again.

The owner is very friendly and bragged about the high quality of his food. Sadly we experienced the opposite. First our order was incorrect after we waited a long time. Second all the food was dry and tasteless. They do not cook with sauce, which in this particular case is a blessing because their sauce is horrible. Very limited sides and none were particularly good either. I cannot recommend and do not plan on ever returning.

Hmm where to begin… With a name like this i must say i expected wow flavors. The food is good at least what i have diet is very limited because i do not eat meat at least not the one they serve. I had their catfish platter with potato salad and mac n cheese. the potato salad was quite flavorful a lil too mayonaissyy for me but its good. the mac n cheese is also great i can really see how you can mess that up. Now the fish tasted different the second time. The first time i got the fish it had a nice crunchy outside n still a moist inside like perfect fry and suprisingly the lettuce was still crunchy. The second time the fish was soggy and my lettuxe was drenched in oil. this place really is a hit or miss.

Recommended Big Daddy’s by a friend, and I tried really hard to like it, but sadly did not have a good experience. The wait was long(that part didn’t really bother me), but the food was surprisingly bland and the portions incredibly small. Got home to discover I was missing a side and rolls, and to add insult to injury my fiancé woke up with food poisoning. Like I said, we really wanted to like this pace but it seemed everything possible was wrong with our meal.

Was hesitant to go after reading these reviews but it was REALLY good. I grew up in Texas so I’m very particular about BBQ. This is a to-go place, there is no seating. Order was filled within 30 mins and everything was still piping hot by the time I drove the 3 blocks home. Called in an order for Pony Express Platter; comes with a whole slab of ribs, 1lb pulled pork, a whole chicken, 2 large sides, 2 liter drink, six rolls, and a side of killer BBQ Sauce. — Ribs: perfectly done. Nice smokey flavor. Meat falls off the bone. — Pulled Pork: ridiculously good. My son and I were fighting to make sandwiches out of it. — Whole Chicken: I was full from stuffing my face with ribs and pulled pork that I haven’t tried it yet. It was literally a whole uncut chicken, kind of bothered me that it wasn’t cut into fourths but I’m sure if I had asked them to do it they would have. — Side: Mac and Cheese and Twice baked potato salad; tried a little bit since again I was still stuffed. Both tasted good. It is not a creamy mac and cheese in case anyone is wondering. Still very good. — Killer BBQ Sauce: VERY tasty. It was good. Service was very pleasant. When I forgot my 2 liter the young man behind the counter came running out with it. I will definitely be going back to try the brisket! If you’re in Germantown and want BBQ, this is your place. Oh and they’re open late everyday! Midnight closing time Friday and Saturday, 10pm every other day.

Not sure why all the negative press. Ribs and wings were very good, as was the sauce. Don’t let negative ratings keep you from trying at least once.

i live right down the road and this is the 2nd time i have gone to Big Daddy’s Smokehouse. ill go through both times: ~1st time was right as they opened the doors, they were literally setting things up while taking orders. i ordered the chicken with pulled pork and 2 sides, one coleslaw and the other beans. the pork was tender and moist and with a slather of BBQ sauce was really tasty, the chicken was just ok. they tried to explain that it should be a little pink due to the way its cooked, it just looked weird. the coleslaw was pretty good and the beans had great flavor. overall a solid C– experience. ~2nd visit was 10x better than the first. i ordered the brisket sandwich and my wife the crab cake platter. the beef brisket was lean(no fat) which was amazing, had great flavor and was very tasty. the coleslaw was just ok this time as it was loaded with paprika(or something like that). it was way too powerful. my wife found the crabcake platter to be all meat, no filler as others have suggested. it wasnt a frozen patty either, it was cooked in house and tasted great. the sauce that came with it was odd(mayo + buffalo sauce???) but went well with the crabcake and was something new to put on a crabcake. i gave this experience a solid B+ and will def go back for the brisket again. overall i think it should have higher reviews. the location is odd but next to it is a fantastic italian take out place, a great beer store and indian market. i do recommend this place as a solid contender to famous dave’s and its the only real BBQ place in Germantown. i gave it a solid 4 stars and will go back again.

I agree with what some of the other Unilocalers have said. We had the nachos too and the typical round chip was disappointing. The picture on the menu makes them look much better. We also had the smoked wings which where excellent. Disappointed they where served with«salad dressing blue cheese» in a commercial packet vs homemade«wing» blue cheese sauce. It is true the pulled pork is dry but I loved it and I think it is suppose to be a drier pulled pork hence«smokehouse». The owner has samples of a variety samples out to try the day we came… the fries and BBQ pork salad was excellent. If they stepped it up… ie the chips, real wing blue cheese ect they would go up to 5 stars!

I love me some BBQ and since I wanted some BBQ I was like why not!!! I wished I hadnt… but I did and here goes my sad review. First of all, its in a rejected strip mall. Where Im sure they got a bargain on rent because there is nothing else exciting here unless your a local and like to walk to the local mart to get your smokes. Anywho, I thought when I walk in, I would get a nice wiff of like Memphis style BBQ. Wrong!!! I didnt even see a smoker. The food looks like its been in warmers or stewing in crockpot all day long. I got bbq chicken cuz I dont rolls with the swine. It wasnt even hot! The flavor was so bland. the side orders is nothing fresh. probably from costco or sams. nothing is fresh or remotely homemade and there is no place to sit down. AVOID!

What a disappointment! I am always up for trying new places, especially BBQ, but save your money and go elsewhere. We ordered here last weekend. We started with the pulled chicken nachos. They were typical round stadium chips(nothing wrong with that!) that had very little, un-melted cheese and were doused with hot sauce(odd for nachos, in my opinion). The chicken was not pulled, instead it appeared to have been a roasted or boiled chicken breast that was roughly chopped and put on top of the chips. For main courses, my wife got the crab cake platter. The crab cake was edible, but full of filler, over-fried, and fell apart rather easily. She described the baked beans side as from a can, without any additional seasoning, and the rolls as like they were from Costco. At least she was able to eat her dinner. I ordered the Texas Brisket platter and it was completely inedible. The meat came wrapped in tin-foil and was as gray as the packaging. It was also stone cold with both liquid and congealed fat and oil. I couldn’t even bring myself to try it and it looked so unappetizing. The BBQ sauce also left room for improvement. Again, it appeared to be a bottle sauce(again not necessarily bad), but one that seemed to have hot sauce added to it(see a theme). As a new restaurant, I understand that some kinks need to be worked out, but at this point, I felt that I wasted $ 30 and couldn’t recommend going back. Perhaps more experience and better quality product will convince me to rethink my position in the future.

I live just around the corner, so one lazy Saturday afternoon the wife and I decided to try it out and boy were we glad we did. I had the ½ slab of ribs, cole slaw, french fries, pulled chicken, corn on the cob which, I think was for more than one person however I consumed it as if it was all for me and it was quite tasty. It is brand new, so I am sure they are still working through issues, that being said everything was tasty and well worth the price. I am already planning my return trip.

Other than the Amish market, this is the only other BBQ spot in Germantown and it’s nice to have one open 7 days a week! Went here for the first time and will go back to try some more items on the menu. I had the pulled pork which was dry, but very flavorful. I also had the brisket which was very good. Thick, moist, tender slices of brisket with a good smokey flavor. The two sides I tried(Cole Slaw and BBQ Chicken Salad) were both good. That cole slaw will go great on a pork bbq sandwich and the BBQ chicken salad was surprisingly good. That would make a fine sandwich of it’s own. I tried the $ 10 platter and it was a fair amount of food for the price. It came with a healthy portion of meat, two sides and two potato buns. They also include their BBQ sauce, which again, surprised me as being better than your average sauce. Next time I’ll ask if they have a hot/habanero option, but this was good. They also need a thin vinegar based sauce to serve up some Carolina style pork! The place threw me for a loop at first… I saw the signs on the corner of Wisteria that made me think it was a local boy opening up an authentic southern BBQ which I looked forward to trying. Then, I walked in to an extremely plain looking entrance and saw a friendly young guy behind the counter who didn’t sound to me like he’d know his way around a smoker. And I didn’t smell any smoke. So, I thought this might be another asian restaurant claiming to serve southern BBQ… Then the owner(?) came out and explained that he owns 3BBQ places down in Virginia, just opened this location, and plans to open two more in our area. That explains such an extensive menu for a new place. They also have seafood and will have crabs. Will be nice to have another local steamed crab option other than Seafood In The Buff on 355 which has served me overpriced soggy crabs for too long. So, give Big Daddy’s a try and post what you think. They are in the old strip mall next to the self storage place on Wisteria. Next to the pizza and Indian place. Note, this is CARRY-OUT only. Not a sit-down restaurant. (3÷31 — I will have to try this place again soon. If everyone else is giving it one star, I’m wondering if I may have gotten lucky?! It *is* takeout only, there is no smoker smell, but the meat I got was hot and flavorful. I’m hoping they cook good crabs this summer!)
