I had a bite of the tomatillo chicken tamale and I closed my eyes.
I bought the chicken tamale and the BBQ pulled pork tamale at the Beacon Farmers’ Market. The tamale stand is also seen at the Rhinebeck Farmers’ Market.
I really liked the pulled pork tamale, but I liked the tomatillo chicken tamale better. (I couldn’t eat the chicken tamale because I gave it to my husband.) It just had more of an ‘oomph’ in flavor.
I think it’s really cool the owner uses locally grown vegetables and locally raised meat for her tamales. But that’s not the reason I’d buy them. It’s the taste I’m thinking about when I bite into one.
