Earthquake of 2010

If I slept through the three in California while I was in uni, you can bet your britches I slept through this one.

What earthquake?

Screw you. I freaking had stomach flu and was finally enjoying some quality sleep before you had to go and wake me up with your lame 15 seconds of shaking.
If you’re going to be a record earthquake and be on the national news the whole damn day, at least be something more significant. You’ve made a mockery of us Metro area residents. Rude.

In summary, I would have to say… East Coast earthquake of 2010… pretty lame.

An Earthquake without all of the destruction that potentially surrounds such a tectonic event?! Sweeeeeeeetttttt!!!
I slept right through the event — did not notice a thing!
In 1975, as a young boy (11 or 12 years old) I got to experience a rather massive earthquake while living on the Island of Guam — 6.7 on the Richter scale — centered along the Mariana trench. Don’t want a repeat of that!
The bottom line: Our planet is «alive» — the science of plate tectonics allows us to better understand our planet and where each plate is headed. Fascinating stuff! Science!
The USGS believes they may never be able to pinpoint the exact location of this quake — fault lines in the east are less well defined.

You all are wimps, sleeping through it. sheeesshh…I really felt it and got me jumping out of bed. There was lots of rummmmbling and I thought a neighbor’s house blew up. Yes, it was reallly strong as I live in Olney, MD…10 mins from the epicenter. I learned a lesson, next time I ran out I should be wearing something more other than a tank top and a thong. But hey, I had to ran 2 floors down! I did cover my butt on my way up.
Also, it was a great excuse to come late into work… got in at 10:30ish.

A friend of mine working in downtown DC called and told me there was a quake, but I figured it was just Farzan rocking with his ladies and told him not to worry.

It was meh. Go ahead and add earthquakes to the list of «Things that are better in California»

I was awake around 5:00 AM (yeah insomnia). I felt a tremble and thought it was the people up stairs walking too hard.

Slept right through it. I’m from California, and the of course the earthquakes are waaaay better over there than in DC-​MD-​VA!

The people saying ‘oh this was nothing’ are just like those asshats that said the blizzards were nothing.
Anyway, this earthquake scared the hell out of me because I’ve never been in an earthquake before. +5 stars for the popping of my earthquake cherry, but –2 stars for revealing to me the fact that there can be god damn earthquakes here.
There’s really not much else to say.

i didnt feel anything. i woke up at 5:20am for work. but i didnt even know about it until i got in my car and turned on the radio.
my dogs were barking at 5am though. maybe they felt it. i’ll ask them later to see and see what they say

It was sooooo intense that I slept right through it… but I have to admit, it’s kinda bad a** that our East Coast and West Coast can finally come to terms & help eachother out with earthquake kits… I guess you need them on every coast now-​a-​days.

TRUE STORY
i was sitting on the porcelain throne performing my morning ritual in the midst of a somnambulistic state — when it happened. just a few scant seconds after my pressing of the handle to release the water and its contents down into the labyrinth of the sewage system — the entire room began to shake in a paroxysm of reverberation.
as quickly as the tumult came upon me — it was gone.
i stood up dazed in bewilderment and looked into the empty bowl of which i had just sat and thought…
what did i eat last night?

The good: no damage.
The bad: I slept through it so obviously it was a dud.

That’s all you got Earth? A little boom then rumbling and a shaking building don’t scare me. My exact thoughts at the time: «I think that’s an earthquake. I’m going back to sleep.» Five stars for effort.

I want to give it 1 star. But «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» describes my experience better than, «Eek! Methinks not.»
I did wake up at 5:05 AM this morning… to take a piss. On the earthquake.

DC’s STRONGEST EARTHQUAKE and I survived to tell about it? How is this NOT «as good as it gets»?
I was asleep at 5:04am when everything started to tremble… and did I feel it??? HECK NO… I was sound asleep and even our 3-​month-​old didn’t wake up. Talk about weak sauce, but cool nonetheless for a 3.6 magnitude earthquake… and being my second earthquake that I lived to tell about. The first one was like a 2. x up in Maine many many MANY moons ago.
MOTHER NATURE AIN’T GOT NOTHIN ON ME!!!
