Gastro One

This is my review from (copied from FB):
They scheduled me for a procedure a few weeks ago, then called me less than 24 hours before my appointment to reschedule it because the doctor had a «conflict.» My husband and I had both made arrangements with our job so that we could be off, so we had to rearrange our schedules. Then the very next day (today) they called me to reschedule again! If they are not even competent enough to schedule an appointment, I do not trust them with my medical issues. I will be going elsewhere.
Also, they have a sign that says they are perfume and fragrance free, which is great because fragrances give me a headache. But the lady behind the desk was using a huge bottle of perfumed lotion…
Today they called me again to tell me the results of a test I had two weeks ago. This is the third time they have called me with these test results. Last time was last week. Severe organizational problems going on here.

This review is for the 8000 wolf river location. If you can’t afford to be away from work for 2.5 hours for a doctor’s appointment, avoid this place like the plague. I waited for over an hour to see the doctor. Plus, they request that you come in a half an hour early. So, if I didn’t get lost on the way here I would’ve been waiting for over an hour and a half. By the time the doctor saw me it was already 7 minutes to 5 (my appt was scheduled for 3:30), and he was unable to have any blood work done because the lab was already closed. While the doctor was nice, I will not be going back to this place.

Gastro One and specifically Dr. James Rutland are great. I have what is known as a difficult case. The staff and Dr. Rutland always work with me. They work very hard to find solutions to make me feel better, quickly. When I am in distress they get me in to be seen quickly. They are very caring and compassionate. They all know me not only by face but by name. They even know my husband by name. No matter how difficult my case got they did not tire of working with me they still strove to find new solutions to make me feel better. Dr. Rutland is very thorough and kind. He listens to you and takes what you say into consideration. He explains things very clearly. I have had both colonoscopies and endoscopes at the center and all have been done very well. All the staff there are also very kind and professional.

My doctor is affiliated with Gastro One so I used the diagnostic center that they own. I was a little reluctant at first as it appeared to be very busy, but, my fears faded quickly. The center was prompt and efficient, the staff friendly, caring, and competent. I was allowed to have my driver/​friend/​family member stay with me throughout the majority of my time at the center, which made the experience much more tolerable. (Did I mention that I hate doctors and medical facilities) The staff was efficient at checking me in, so fast that I ended up waiting just a bit before it was time to go to the back area. Once there, the nurses and assistants were methodical and again fast. My doctor came in and reviewed the procedures that he would be doing and made sure to answer any and all questions that I had. Once it was time to go back the staff in the procedure room was warm and friendly, they actually joked with me about the equipment and procedure. (hey, I was there for a colonoscopy, a little humor was needed and appreciated!) All and all the procedures took less than thirty minutes. After the procedure I awoke to a nurse and my driver/​friend/​family member. It was nice to see a face that I knew. Within about fifteen minutes the doctor came in again and discussed his findings and what followup would be needed (luckily my I had someone with me to pay attention to what was said as I was still just a bit groggy). Within thirty minutes I was awake, coherent, and ready to go. All and all a very pleasant experience for someone who really didn’t want to be there and dreaded having to go. Having been to several surgery/​diagnostic type centers in the last year or so, I would rate them as far better than most.
