I come here solely for the dog park aspect — but the few times when we have walked on the trails they have been very safe and clean during the afternoons/early evenings! The dog park is great because as stated in other comments — there are no ridiculous hoops you need to jump through to be able use the facility. That being said, it’s a pretty simple park… lots of dirt, not a lot of shade, and you bring your own water. I always bring at least a gallon jug because sure enough 40% of the people there will not bring their own water and their dogs drink out of your jug — which is fine! All dogs should have access to water… even if their owner is not responsible enough to bring some on a hot day.(grr.) Anyways — I have had very few issues with aggressive dogs at this park. I do feel very comfortable with the variety of dogs that visit. Although, as stated below again, I am not a baby sitter for your dog and child! One bad parent can ruin the experience… hence the few times we choose to go walk the trails instead of stay in the park. Even the nicest dogs at home can sometimes get annoyed and become aggressive around new animals — it can happen to anyone and any time! You must always be alert. If you’re sitting on the benches talking on your cell phone and not paying attention to your child and/or dog, then you should probably not be there. Or if something happens — do not get an attitude for someone trying to break up a dog fight or when your child gets snapped at for continuously pulling a dog’s tail. Just saying.

Unlike most dog parks in MoCo — this one is open to *any* resident of MoCo… and you don’t need to get one of those stupid tag thingies(that aren’t allowed for people who live ONEFRICKIN’ BLOCKAWAYFROMTHECITYLINE… even though my zip code and city name is the same… ARRRRRRGH). But I digress. The Ridge Road Rec Park has a ton of stuff — there are picnic areas, a skate park, basketball, baseball and tennis areas, and of course, the dog park. A few things about the dog park — there is no water — so bring your own water(there is always a few left over bottles of water by the pavilion — but I never trust those, so I always bring my own bottle). The dogs that come to this dog park are pretty nice — there were a few owners who didn’t police/discipline their dog when they got overly aggressive, but the other owners would step in and help out the situation, which is super nice. The space is huge. There’s not a lot of grass, but there always seems to be at least two or three dogs playing in this area. Also — if you’re a parent and you decide to bring your kid and your dog here — that’s fine, but please be aware that there are some big dogs, and even some small dogs that might be a little skittish… please tell your kid to a) not take a toy away from a dog, unless you know the dog and how they will behave, b) don’t HIT any dogs(OK, the kid that I saw doing this was only 4 or 5 so they obviously didn’t know any better and definintely wasn’t hurting the dog — but don’t just stand by and watch… teach your kid that is not OK. He was just lucky that the dog he was hitting was an older and very patient dog — or that could have ended really really poorly), and c) know that although that there may be a bunch of people here — none of us are defacto baby-sitters for you. So don’t drop your kid and dog off here, and then get on your phone and ignore both kid and dog. Because we’re not on the lookout for your dog or your kid — that’s your job as a pet owner and as a parent. Just saying.

Great place and it has a dog park where I can allow my dog to run around in a friendly and safe environment!
