Having lived in the Finger Lake region I was fortunate to visit wineries quite frequently. I was surprised to find the Tousey Winery tucked away in the Hudson Valley. They have yet to produce a wine that has not become a favorite for me. The amazing detail to which they create their wines is evident from the intricate story on their labels to the flavors as they unfold on the palate. I frequently bring friends and family to the charming Tousey Tasting Room and they never disappoint. The friendly staff and beautiful surrounding are matched only by the beauty of the valley itself!

We always make a point of stopping at Tousey on our Hudson Valley trips. The wine is vastly superior to anything else in the region and the tasting fee is very reasonable. My favorites are their Pinot Noir and Queen of Clermont white wine. The owners are warm and funny, making an all around great tasting experience. Their honey is also fabulous! And Hudson Valley Distillery is close by and also worth a stop for their fantastic vodka and applejack.

Worst bottle of wine we’ve ever had. We picked up a 2013 Pinot Noir at a local farmer’s market for $ 26 and the seller said we could either either drink it now or put it away for a few months to let it age further. We decided to drink it now. The color of the wine resembled a dark brown liquor or a thin port wine, not at all the color of Pinot Noir. It was basically undrinkable and we wasted $ 26 for the sake of supporting a local winery. Wish we had not. I appreciate that small wineries need to move product, but there is no way such a young wine should be sold without an explicit warning not to open the bottle.

I am so glad I found this place on Unilocal. We stopped in there after a morning of apple picking. They had some of the better wine I have had in the Hudson Valley which is surprising since they haven’t been around that long. It was a good overall experience. Nice Mom and pop shop.

Modest and surprisingly good Hudson Valley winery near Clermont .You might expect the whites to be stronger than the reds but that proves not to be the case. I’d recommend the pinot noir and cabernet franc. There is a charge for tasting which is waived if you buy .The host is genial and knowledgeable and originally from Newcastle. They make their own crème de casis which was not available at the time.
