How can you not give the Sunset 5 stars. This is your typical great hometown independent ice cream shop. They have tasty ice cream and huge portions. We have been coming monthly for years and have never had a bad experience. Nothing fancy… simple, honest and satisfying. When my daughter has a bad day… she always says, «Can we go to get ice-cream at sunset?» The staff is always friendly. Nice spot to eat on the side of the building when it is warm. Our favorite ice cream spot in town. If you want a great value and tasty ice cream — give them a try.

Ice cream after dinner. A short walk from the Dobbins Tavern down Steinwehr. Local ice cream, lots of delicious flavors. You can sample the ice cream to pick your favorite. Friendly staff.

I had been craving ice cream all day, so I decided to stop here because it was open late. There was a man behind the counter who made kind of a snarky comment when we said we needed a moment to decide. I didn’t particularly appreciate it. For two single scoop comes we paid nearly $ 9, which I find to be absolutely outrageous. The portion size was generous, however. The inside was dated and kind of dirty. I tried a pretzel cone with my ice cream, and it was a little stale. It wasn’t quite what I expected. I wouldn’t get a pretzel cone again. I probably wouldn’t stop here again either, honestly. I usually prefer to support local businesses over chains, but I think I would go to the nearby Rita’s or Dairy Queen over this place. The location is prime, though.

Ice cream was good, but the staff was not pleasant. Not the cleanest place either… especially the bathrooms. I will be going next door to Kilwin’s from now on. It’s a little pricier but the atmosphere and ice cream are better.

Cute place ! Lots of flavors and options for sundaes and milkshakes too! Friendly service provided by the woman working there. She was helpful in recommending some things to do around town.

Cute little place for ice cream. They have a HUGE selection of flavors. I enjoyed the fruity tang of my sherbet while wifey got cookies n cream that had big olé chunks of oreos inside. I’ve had better ice cream, but boy on a hot summer day after walking so much it sure was a welcome site.

It’s a pretty typical ice cream parlor. Though with local ice cream shops, I’m accustomed to being offered samples. They didn’t appear to do that here(though it could be because it was the 150th anniversary weekend in Gettysburg). Pretty straightforward with your typical sundae options. All the usual flavors with some more interesting ones available as well. Generous portions were given in my two-scoop waffle cone. The ice cream itself is slightly better than store-bought but not super great either. They clearly still use artificial ingredients(like in the strawberry and chocolate chip mint and chocolate) but it is clearly fresher ice cream than just store-bought. It was refreshing on a super hot and humid July afternoon after walking for hours. If it were just a regular stop when I wasn’t nearly dying of heat stroke? Meh.

The ice-cream was really good and the service was great. We had the sundae which were really nice. They had a lot of selection of different ice-cream that was made locally. Super friendly. I am coming back.

Didn’t get a chance to try the ice cream because the person working was so mean, they wouldn’t let my 7 month pregnant niece &4 yr old nephew use the restroom. I will never support this business.

This straightforward ice cream shop sits directly next door to a Kilwin’s. I wonder who was here first. The ice cream is good but not great. My dad got his favorite, rum raisin, which he often cannot find. My sister got chocolate in a pretzel cone, which I had never heard of and think is a great idea. I got a hot fudge sundae with chocolate-malt ice cream. With the chopped nuts(skip the whipped cream) this was one of the best sundae combinations that I’ve ever tasted. Chocolate-malt is an inspired ice cream flavor. Yum. Service and prices satisfactory; location excellent.
