Mediocre when compared to other groceries nearby. I have been to other Shoprite stores that seem to be a step up in overall quality and customer service. I will avoid this store though as there are no baggers and just one register clerk per line. At least that has been my recent experience. I like to have the opportunity to follow along as everything is rung up, and there is no way to do that when you are bagging everything. I feel that it is irresponsible on my part to shop at places that are understaffed and lack in customer service, and I would rather goes somewhere that seems to be more appreciative of customers. The following is a letter I wrote, and mailed in, which describes the experience of shopping at second rate grocery. XXX — XXXXXX — XXXXXX — XXX ShopRite Customer Care PO Box 7812 Edison, NJ8818 My family went to the ShopRite of Gibbstown Grocery Store. We were dissatisfied as there were no baggers. There were around half a dozen lines with friendly competent cashiers; however we the shoppers were expected to bag all of our purchases. The cashiers would help with groceries if need be; however this would slow everything down for everyone. Not having baggers is a deal breaker for us. I find it to be a bad business practice and insulting to shoppers. For me personally I like to review my purchases as they are rung up on the register screen to take stock of my purchases for the week. I have always done so for personal inventory and budgeting of groceries. I cannot watch the screen, while having to bag everything. I can however go to many other groceries that provide this traditional and expected service. I feel irresponsible shopping anywhere that neglects expected customer service, so we will not be going back to this store anytime in the foreseeable future. Under-staffing is a short-sighted poor practice, that very much defines the customer experience of shopping at your store as a second rate grocery. It was not all that long ago that the chain Bottom Dollar bottomed out because people were dissatisfied, and chose to shop at decent groceries. I have past experience working in a grocery, and know that the register clerks also appreciate having assistance of having a bagger. Today my wife is a doctor and I work in publishing and multimedia, but we remember our teenager starter jobs. As a former grocery store employee I wanted to give my 2-cents.

The store is ok however their meats are terrible. Now the employees there are another story. Most ignorant, lazy, unhelpful and rude people I’ve encountered. At the deli counter, just wanted a 1lb of cheese sliced thin, the guy said well I’d rather you get the pre-sliced stuff. If I cut it for you then the cheese will have meat mixed in cause the slicer was used for meat. Really? your that lazy that you can’t wipe the slicer? The staff is always standing in the center of aisles and don’t move a muscle to let the shoppers get by. Went to get lottery tickets and the guy behind the customer service counter rolled his eyes and let out a sigh like I troubled him to actually do his job. If you want good customer service this is NOT the store for you. It’s a shame because its a nice little store but the employees treat customers like an inconvenience and are just nasty rude to people

Seems that they have made some improvements over the past 1+ years, so I’ll give them another star. It’s still my go-to supermarket in the area. I’d recommend this place. They do have very friendly cashiers. Unless it’s Wegman’s, it’s almost impossible to get another star for a supermarket.

Its small but quant. I’m used to bigger markets back in pa. Their deli corner could be bigger, a wider variety. They need to expand, or do some renovations, add a salad bar. The staff are very helpful, and the counter ladies. zero complaints. I would go there to buy 3, or 4 items and avoid the lines at the register
